You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 105 Part 2
Tong Yao was left to face the anxiety all by herself. She was worried that either Dubhe or Alkaid who were sitting in the row ahead of them would turn their heads-- --She was left agitated for two whole hours until the bus arrived at the airport. Lu Sicheng, still in a daze, lifted his head up from the flabby body of the person next to him. Tong Yao, the person he had used as a pillow, was crowded into the corner of the last row, curled into a rather miserable ball.
Lu Sicheng sat up, moved the hood back, and bent over to hide behind the back of the front seat to grab Tong Yao’s hand up to kiss it. Then he felt completely refreshed and said: “Appreciated.”
Tong Yao, with her waist almost going to break, pulled her hand back and was totally unmoved by his appreciation: “Shut up, you shut up. I’ll never sit in the same row with you again. Next time, I’d rather sit on the floor.”
Lu Sicheng: “Gee.”
Tong Yao: “What are you geeing for.”
Lu Sicheng: “ To express my disappointment. I really want to sit with you.”
The two kids at the front row turned their heads back and gave them a look as if in horror. Facing their looks, Tong Yao had no choice but to remain silent.
……
ZGDX had decided to arrive at Xiamen two days early before the competition. They soon found it to be a wise decision. After they had all received their boarding passes, it was announced that the flight would be delayed and there was no estimated time as to when the plane would be fixed-- --
At first, there were passengers circling around the airline staff demanding a more definite answer.
The staff soon lost patience and replied plainly: “The airplane is having a mechanical problem. They’re fixing it. Do you want to fly in a broken airplane?”
Everyone quieted down and returned to their seats without any more complaints. Everyone from ZGDX was waiting in the VIP lounge…...One hour later, Tong Yao impatiently stood up and told the others that she was going to walk around outside-- --At the time, Lu Sicheng was discussing game strategies with the B team kids. He looked up when he heard her voice and said flatly: “Don’t go too far, bring your cell phone, and don’t talk to strangers.”
There was a momentary silence inside the lounge.
Tong Yao, with both hands in her pockets, looked straight without much expression at Lu Sicheng. Little Fatty thought for a little while and broke the silence: “Captain, you do know that our mid is an adult?”
Lu Sicheng looked deeply at Tong Yao then answered slowly: “I know.”
Tong Yao categorized that look as a part of his “rogue behavior” and gave him a hard look before turning around to go out of the room.
The airport was bustling with people hurrying to and fro…...Tong Yao had figured that the chance of being recognized by fans here would be less than 5% and so didn’t wear a face mask or flat cap like movie stars would. Then twenty minutes later, she was successfully ganked by a fan-- --
As she was bending over to check a certain skin care product, she felt someone pulling her clothes and heard a timid voice: “Are you…...Smiling?”
Tong Yao turned her head and found a 13 or 14 years old kid standing behind her. When their eyes met, the kid’s eyes brightened and began stammering before Tong Yao could answer: “It’s really you! Wow, I, I, I’m your fan. Ahh, your fan! Even before you started playing professionally, I already loved watching your streams. I also played mid and learned a lot of skills from you-- --I’m Dimond 1 now on China Telecom Ionia server. After I move up more, I’ll probably be able to play matches with you. My dream is to play a match with you!”
Tong Yao couldn’t say anything since the kid kept talking. Yet she felt quite happy seeing the kid’s red face and gladly signed an autograph for the young fan. Then they took a picture together amid odd looks from passerby-- --
It was clear on their faces: Who’s this? A movie star? What TV drama is she in?
After taking the picture, the kid wasn’t done with his questions and grabbed Tong Yao to ask in a small voice: “I’m now 13 and Diamond 1. I’m sure I can move up to Master during summer vacation. Smiling, do you think I can play professionally?”
“You’re Diamond 1 at such a young age. As long as you work hard, for sure you can play professionally. But to play professionally, you probably still have to have your family-- --”
Before she could finish her words, a well dressed middle aged woman hurriedly walked over from behind. Without waiting for the kid to turn his head, the woman dashed forward and grabbed him from behind while scolding: “I took my eyes off you for just a minute and you’ve wandered off, even chatting with random people everywhere. It’s almost time to board and I have to look for you everywhere. Why can’t you let me worry less? !”
The smile on the kid’s face instantly wiped away. He took a glance at Tong Yao, probably feeling especially embarrassed being scolded in front of his idol. He listlessly said: “I haven’t wandered off or talked to random people. This girl’s my favorite esports player-- --”
“What player?”
“Esports.”

ReplyDelete- yes Dad πππ
Considering she's already gone missing once after a game with her phone on her (to collect stamp No. 2, Ah Guang, if I remember correctly), I'm more surprised he didn't add to make sure not to silence her phone while he was at it.
