You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 19 Part 3

Xu Huaisong frowned at the computer.

“What’s wrong?” Ruan Yu asked.

“It’s too long. My eyes hurt.”

Wasn’t he in the hospital for some stomach problem?

“Then, read it after you take a good rest.”

“You read it.”

“?”

Ruan Yu had to rub her ears: “What did you say?”

Xu Huaisong closed his eyes and pulled up the blanket a little to lay half of his body down on the bed: “I roughly remember the original text. You read it once over and I’ll make sure there’s no problem, then our work will be done.”

“......”

He would have no problem with it but Ruan Yu would have a lot of problems with it.

Ruan Yu couldn’t even fake a smile now: “I’ve gone over it, there’s no problem with this chapter.”

“During the second World War, the British and American forces wanted to reinforce the structure of their fighter planes. They investigated the damage on all the surviving fighter planes and concluded that they should reinforce the areas that had taken the most hits. But statisticians pointed out that they should pay more attention to the areas where there were less direct hits. Because if those areas suffered heavy damage, then it’d be almost impossible to fly the plane back. People tend to overlook those statistics.” Xu Huaisong told the story with his eyes closed.

“......”

A writer like her wouldn’t have the kind of imagination to link a comparison column to World War II.

Ruan Yu couldn’t find anything to say as a rebuttal and took out her cell phone instead.

Alright, she thought, she’ll just let him fly a fighter plane.

It was just a short piece of exotic writing. Weren’t we all adults?

Ruan Yu went to close the door, put down the thermal box, picked up her cell phone, and put her left hand over her right wrist to steady herself. Then she cleared her throat and used a mechanical voice to read: “Chapter 23……”

Before she couldn continue, someone knocked on the door.

Ruan Yu paused and Xu Huaisong also opened his eyes.

The nurse outside the door said: “Mr. Xu, there’s a Ms. Tao here who says she’s your mother and was asking about your room number at the information desk.”

A minute later, Ruan Yu, who didn’t have the chance to slip away, was face to face with the mother and sister of the male lead in her story.

When the door opened, all three females were looking at one another. Tao Rong and Ruan Yu almost nodded at one another at the same time as a greeting.

Xu Huaishi was quite surprised and looked all over Ruan Yu from top to bottom. She seemed to have recognized Ruan Yu: “Aiya……”

“Xu Huaishi.” Xu Huaisong straightened up and gave her a glance with a dark face: “It’s Friday today. You’re skipping class?”

Xu Huaishi forgot what she was going to say and pulled on Tao Rong’s arm: “How can I? Mom gave me permission! Look, you don’t come back to Su City after you return to the country, so we’ll just have to make the trip to come over.”

Tao Ron lightly patted her hand: “Your brother’s busy.” She also took a look at Ruan Yu who was standing there: “And this is?”

Ruan Yu then realized that she was still in a position with her cell phone tightly gripped in her hand. She made the move to introduce herself: “How are you? I’m Mr. Xu’s client. I’m here to discuss my case with him.”

Xu Huaisong didn’t have any objection to her introduction. He called on Tao Rong and Xu Huaishi to sit down and said: “I’ve told you I’m alright. It’s just that I haven’t gotten used to the climate here.”

“You even had to check into the hospital……” Tao Ron’s eyes turned reddish but stopped from continuing, probably because there was a stranger in the room.

Ruan Yu immediately sensed that her stay there had interfered with the family reunion. She was planning to leave but noticed that Xu Huaisong was looking at her: “Wash some fruits for my mom.”

She replied with an “oh” and turned to pick up the fruit basket on the stand next to his bed. After she had walked out of the room, she seemed to feel that there was something not quite right.

He told her to wash fruits for his mother? Why did it feel weird somehow?

As she was wondering, suddenly she heard a crisp voice coming from behind: “Jiejie, let me help you wash!”
