You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 13 Part 2

The next second, Ruan Yu was surprised by all the Weibo profile names filling up the whole screen. They were coming from Xu Huaisong. It looked like a list of people waiting for their execution.
Xu Huasisong: [List them in the statement.]
Though this was business, Ruan Yu was moved by the gesture nonetheless. She typed: [Mr. Xu, thanks for your effort!]

There was no response. Ruan Yu turned off the chat then heard the doorbell ringing.
It was Shen Mingying at the door.

After she quit her job as an editor at Jinjiang, Shen Mingying worked together with her boyfriend to run an online shop. She, like Ruan Yu, didn’t have to work from 9 to 5 and had come to visit Ruan Yu.

The first thing Ruan Yu said to Shen Mingying was: “Don’t try to comfort me. I probably have gotten used to it, I’m feeling alright.”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Shen Mingying walked straight towards the living room: “I’m here to gossip about Cen Sisi.”

Ruan Yu had told Shen Mingying yesterday about Cen Sisi.
Once she thought about it, Cen Sisi would probably count as Shen Mingying’s “nemesis.”

After Ruan Yu started her writing career, she recommended Shen Mingying to Jinjiang to work as an editor for ancient romance novels since she couldn’t find a suitable job after graduation. Ruan Yu wrote modern romance novels for two years and got tired of it. She switched to writing ancient romance stories and Shen Mingying happened to be assigned as her editor.

While the story was in progress, somehow the relationship between the two was exposed by someone in the forum anonymously. That person kept complaining the editor was unfair and always saved the best spot on the recommendation list for her best girlfriend.

After making a few inquiries, Shen Mingying had found out that this person was “Su Cheng”, in other words, Cen Sisi.

The accusation caused quite a stir at the time. Though Shen Mingying hadn’t abused her editorial power to favor Ruan Yu, it was hard to convince other writers and readers. In the end, she resigned from Jinjiang.
Ruan Yu was also looked down disdainfully by many. Her writing was affected by the incident since she felt guilty about Shen Mingying losing her job. She hastily ended the ancient romance story.

Later on, Ruan Yu started a new story but there were people who kept bringing up the incident. She forced herself not to be influenced by those comments and struggled to finish the story. Afterwards, she had fallen into writer’s block and couldn’t come up with anything for eleven months.

This past incident was the reason why both of them insisted on filing the lawsuit since this was the second time Cen Sisi had stirred up trouble for them.
Wasn’t putting up with her once already too much?

Shen Mingying said: “It seems that she knew all along who you were. What exactly have you done to offend her in college that she would keep going after you after all these years?”
Ruan Yu sighed: “If I knew, I wouldn’t be in this position now.”

“You took a scholarship away from her?”
Ruan Yu shook her head.
“Took a quota from some sort of recommendation from her?”
Ruan Yu shook her head again.
“It can’t be that you took her man away?”

This time, Ruan Yu didn’t need to shake her head. Shen Mingying repudiated it herself: “Impossible. You’ve been single since birth, you don’t want any man even if they came on to you.”

Shen Mingying remembered that during Ruan Yu’s senior year there was a freshman in her department who kept chasing after Ruan Yu. The whole department knew about it but it didn’t work out.
It wasn’t because the freshman didn’t look good. He actually became a movie star later and had a lot of female fans.
Shen Mingying had called Ruan Yu “blind” many times because of this.

“Speaking of it, what’s that xuedi of yours doing now?”
“I haven’t followed him.”

Shen Mingying’s mind began to get sidetracked from Cen Sisi. She took out her cell phone to search: “What’s his name, Li something? Oh, is this his Weibo?” She lifted up her phone: “SC Li Shican.”
Ruan Yu glanced at her phone and nodded.

Something flashing by in Ruan Yu’s head with that glance.
SC? Why did the initial look somewhat familiar?

“Yo, he happens to be streaming now.”
Shen Mingying hopped onto the stream. A slightly hoarse voice came out of her phone: “Alright, I lost this round. I’ll take Dare. Come on ‘I love to eat rabbit’, speak up.”

“Didn’t expect a big star could be this easy going, even playing Truth or Dare with fans on  stream?” Shen Mingying mumbled as she opened a pack of preserved plums, while she watched the stream with interest.
