You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 137 Part 2
Lu Sicheng cast his eyes downwards to cover the emotions in his eyes and walked into the front yard of the base.
The reporters were all writing swiftly behind him.
Lu Sicheng suddenly stopped at the door.
He turned around and walked back out of the front gate. With one hand resting on the iron gate, he bent over slightly and spoke to the reporters outside in a somewhat quiet voice: “I don’t have anything against you guys reporting the news-- --But regarding what you end up writing and what kind of headlines you’re going to use, you all better be more careful-- --Especially some particular esports new sites that I’m not going to bother naming one by one. But if I ever catch you making up stories, even if it’s just a punctuation mark, then you can see whether I’ll sue you till you go bankrupt.”
All the reporters: [......]
All the reporters were dumbfounded. Lu Sicheng straightened up and said flatly: “I’m finished talking.” Then, he left.
The reporters looked at each other in confusion.
They totally couldn’t understand why the person who was relatively polite just a few seconds ago would suddenly become so hostile.
It looked like he was really in a bad mood.
……
Lu Sicheng went inside the base. When he opened the door, he saw Tong Yao, with cat in arms and wearing slippers and loungewear, waiting for him at the entryway. She looked up at him, the skin under her eyes had a faint bluish color from not sleeping well.
Lu Sicheng subconsciously frowned. The same feeling of heartache and pent-up rage he had when he came back early yesterday morning to see Tong Yao curled up with the cats under the blanket in bed came back to him. Yet, he didn’t know what to say to her at the moment. He simply lifted up his big hand to pat her head, then the head of the cat in her arms. Then he bent down and pretended to be busy taking his shoes off.
“I watched the matches.” Tong Yao’s voice came right next to him: “You played quite fiercely today. Did you get possessed by Pope?”
“......En.”
Lu Sicheng lifted his eyelids to give her a glance, then put on his slippers before going inside.
Tong Yao followed him with the cat still in her arms: “Why wasn’t there a MVP interview after the match? I was waiting to see what you would say…...Why didn’t you do it? Are you not feeling well? Stomach ache? Catch a cold? Or having a headache? I saw online that people said that you deliberately stayed away from the interview, is it true? W-- --?”
The man in front of her abruptly stopped walking.
Tong Yao was caught off guard and bumped her head into his back.
Tong Yao: “Ouch.” She backed three steps away and looked up to meet Lu Sicheng’s eyes. Lu Sicheng paused a bit before asking: “What did they say online?”
Tong Yao felt nervous for no reason under the gaze of his dark brown eyes. She forced out a smile: “......They said that I was punished by the club because I had said something inappropriate during the earlier MVP interview. And you’re unhappy with the decision and played the matches with emotions due to the injustice and refused to do the interview afterwards to protest. Well, I certainly know all of that isn’t true at all, how could it be possible that you-- --”
“I am unhappy.”
“......”
The smile on Tong Yao’s face freezed next to her lips.
“But it’s not towards the club.”
“......”
Tong Yao was going to ask more questions, but Lu Sicheng’s cell phone began to ring. He looked down to check the caller id, then paused for a moment before saying: “I’m tired. I’m going to go rest for a while. Don’t call me up for dinner.” He then turned around to go upstairs by himself…...Tong Yao watched him go up. He seemed in a hurry to answer the call. After saying hello, he then said in a low voice: “Wait a bit”......
He went up the stairs as he answered the phone and didn't even look back.
Tong Yao was left besides the staircase, looking up at his back until his door was slammed shut. She tightened her arms till the cat couldn’t take it anymore and screeched as it slipped away from her arms.
The first floor of the club was quiet.
Little Fatty walked behind Tong Yao, poked at her waist and asked in a whisper: “What’s going on here?”
Tong Yao seemed to come back to herself then. She moved her eyes from the tightly shut door, smiled as she pulled her hair behind her ears, then used a seemingly casual tone of voice to say: “How would I know.”
-- --From that night when Lu Sicheng slammed the door as he left the base till today, he had been acting like this the whole time.
He seldom spoke, was quite gloomy, and seemed distracted and listless whenever anyone said something to him or asked him anything…… He seldom spoke to Tong Yao either. Sometimes he would ignore her or simply hold her but without a word as if his mind was elsewhere. But when he played games, he was a totally different person-- --He was as irritable as he was when playing today’s match. In the past couple of days, that was how he played ranked games. Others might not have noticed it, but Tong Yao saw it all. He wasn’t willing to say anything, but was using the game as his only outlet for his emotions.
In those few days, Tong Yao had kept assuring him that she was fine, but it didn’t seem to do anything to change Lu Sicheng’s attitude-- -- In the end, even Tong Yao was wondering whether Lu Sicheng was really distressed over her problems…..
He kept quiet.
He refused to cooperate.
There was nothing Tong Yao could do about him.
She felt extremely helpless.
