Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 20 Part 2

Ye Qiao was about to get up from her seat and suddenly felt a loss of breath. Her
face turned pale; she wanted to ask for her medicine but couldn’t make a sound.

Fortunately, Shen Ting was alert enough to notice that Ye Qiao’s lips were losing
color. She hurriedly reached out to support Ye Qiao and panickily asked: “Qiao Je,
are you alright? Do you need a doctor!” Shen Ting became even more terrified after
asking the question since she was well aware that there was no doctor in this remote
village. The nearest clinic was several miles away in town. If Ye Qiao was having a
heart attack, it would be hard to save her life!

Ye Qiao made a feeble sound: “......medicine.”

“Medicine, medicine…...right……” Shen Ting, flustered, couldn’t even see the
medicine which was right in front of her eyes. It took Ye Qiao some effort to point
it out to her. Shen Ying grabbed the bottle and rushed to pull out some pills. Her
hands were violently shaking as she twisted water bottle cap off. Water spilled
over Ye Qiao’s shoes. Shen Ting didn’t bother to apologize but handed the pills
in a hurry.

Ye Qiao swallowed the pills with some water and rested in her seat for a while
longer before she started to feel better.

She regained her ability to speak and gave Shen Ting a faint smile: “What are
you flustered for? Look at your eyes, they’re all red. I’m not going to die.”

Shen Ting wiped away the tears in her eyes and smiled: “I’m just too nervous.
Qiao Je, you’re a good person, you’ll have good karma in return. Heaven is so
unfair; a good person like you to be so sickish and bad people live such easy,
happy lives.”

“Heaven is very fair. Aren’t you living in good health?”  Ye Qiao was feeling
much better, enough to crack a joke. Inside, she was telling herself that heaven
truly was fair because she wasn’t a good person after all.

Shen Ting chuckled: “That doesn’t count. What I mean is……”

“Alright, alright.” Ye Qiao looked at the busy staff walking around outside the
vehicle and asked: “Are we filming today?”

Shen Ting was quick to return to her business mode, replying right away: “Yes,
we do. You’ll be filming the scene with Mr. Lu today!”

The filming didn’t actually start until it was close to evening after everything
was set up by the crew.

Ye Qiao was now in good condition and Lu Qing, a reward winning veteran
actor, was certainly well experienced for the scene. They worked well together
on their first try. Lu Qing took the chance while they were idle to praise her:
“You’re very intelligent.”

“I’m flattered.” Ye Qiao smiled and sipped some water. “You’re the actor I
admired since I was a young girl. Now in this scene, you’re the person who
Lu Zhiyao has a crush on. It’s easy for me to get into character.”

When Lu Qing first started acting, he had roles in several spy movies and
became quite popular. Ye Qiao became his fan when she was still in grade
school. During those years when she was in and out of the hospital, she
didn’t follow him. When she went back to school, he had already emerged
as a famous actor, winning numerous awards for best actor at national and
international film festivals. It had been a long-cherished wish of Ye Qiao to
work with him in a film. It was one of the reasons that she took the part in
this movie in the first place.

Lu Qing was used to young girls showing admiration to him, so he only politely
smiled in response.

After they chatted for a while, Lu Qing was concerned: “Do you feel comfortable
filming here?”

“It’s alright. I went to a mountain village before when I was filming <Sleeping Wind>.”

“En. This film is based upon a real story, that’s why we need to come here to film
on location where the real story happened. Human trafficking usually happens in
rather backward places. There’s not much we can do to make it more comfortable
in such a harsh place.”

Ye Qiao didn’t know whether he was a talkative person or not, but felt that he was
quite approachable, just like a big brother from the neighbor’s house. She became
more talkative as well: “I heard the government is also sponsoring this film so the
public will be aware of the problem. I wonder whether we’ll meet those women
who’re victims.”

Lu Qing was caught by surprise: “Even if we meet them, we can’t go rescue them.
It’s a complicated matter.”

Ye Qiao didn’t expect he would give such an answer. She forced out a smile and
ended the conversation to go back and rest.
