Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 19 Part 3

Zhou Tingsheng covered Ye Qiao’s wide and unsettling eyes, lightly stroking
her eyelids to close them: “Why are you so shocked? I don’t even care.”

“That’s not the problem.” Ye Qiao recalled how she had felt in the movie theatre.
The feeling of breaking through and destroying everything revived in her heart.
It felt as if she was standing on a cliff, longing to jump off. Unable to control the
urge, she closed her eyes trying to avoid it all.

“I think I’m really sick.” She used her hand to support her forehead.

Zhou Tingsheng couldn’t help but having an ominous feeling.

Indeed, Ye Qiao didn’t contact him for the next two days. Zhou Tingsheng would
send her messages from time to time, but she never replied. On the third day,
Ye Qiao left early in the morning with the crew to the countryside. 2301 was
deserted, as if Ye Qiao had never been there before.

Zhou Tingsheng was left taking care of Ophelia, it seemed that he was the only
proof of any connection between the two people.

Zhou Tingsheng cut some fruit for Ophelia and Desa, mixing it with pet food,
and poured the mixture in the pet bowls. The two pets, one big and one small,
ate side by side at the same speed. Zhou Tingsheng, amused by the scene,
took a picture with his cell phone.

He viewed the picture with a smile on his face, then suddenly felt rather lonely.

He hadn’t felt like this for a long time, the feeling of emptiness within his chest,
a lonely void.  Not even tobacco could fill it all.

Bored, he started to search online for Uranus.

It’s indeed a green planet, like an unpolished emerald enticing those that look
at it.

He extinguished the cigarette and tried to call Ye Qiao.

Ye Qiao had just arrived at the countryside. The crew had to go into the mountains
to film and they had just reached the furthest point that public transportation could
take them. All she saw now were dirt roads and forests.

The filming crew had rented a few vehicles and loaded them with the actors and
equipment. Xu Yinshan held her cell phone outside the window and complained
to her assistant: “The signal can’t be this bad all the time in this place?”

Her assistant sat on a stool, somewhat dizzy from the bumpy ride: “I heard that the
place where we’re staying doesn’t even have 4G, probably not even 2G. They may
not have any service from time to time, if you want to make a phone call, better do
it now.”

Xu Yinshan angrily responded: “But there’s no signal here either. I can’t even send
a text message out.”

Just at that moment, Ye Qiao’s cell phone rang.

Xu Yinshan sulkily put her phone away and gulped down some sparkling water.
Shen Ting hid behind Ye Qiao and chuckled.

Ye Qiao was powerless to stop the phone from ringing. She could only resignedly
pick up her phone to take a look. Her expression changed-----it was Zhong Tingsheng.
Ye Qiao hesitated for 3 seconds and rejected the call.

She didn’t know how to face him.

They had intimate bodily contact but there was no spiritual connection. Now she
even felt that the intimacy was a mistake due to a bout of confusion.

Ye Qiao was trapped in her self doubt. Gu Jin was sitting on the passenger seat in
the front. She was being jostled by the bumpy ride and couldn’t see him clearly.
Yet she could still hear his words, as if it was some kind of prophetic curse. Ye Qiao
didn’t want to believe that she had really given up on herself and indulge in casual
relationship just because she had been dumped by Gu Jin.

That sort of her would be too pathetic.
