Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 20 Part 1

All of a sudden, a scream jolted Ye Qiao back to reality. “Cheng Jiang Je-----”

Everyone in the car turned to look at the back row where Cheng Jiang was leaning
against the back seat, face pale as a white sheet of paper, and covering her mouth.

Gu Jin immediately shouted: “Stop the car!”

Cheng Jiang’s assistant helped her out of the car so she could vomit.

Ye Qiao watched her through the window. Cheng Jiang was painfully bent over with
her back facing the car. The front door of the car slammed shut. Gu Jin had hurriedly
jumped off to support her body and lightly stroke her back. Ye Qiao could almost
imagine the tone of his voice as he comforted her, gentle and pleasant. His voice
would make anyone trust him like a father and cry on his shoulder without a concern.

However, Cheng Jiang wasn’t Ye Qiao. After she had turned her stomach inside out,
she took the water Gu Jin had handed to her and rinsed her mouth. Though weak,
she leisurely wiped her lips clean with napkins and slowly separated herself from
Gu Jin. “Thank you,” she said to him in front of everyone.

Her gracefulness was impeccable.

The entire line of vehicles had come to a stop. People from different cars had come
down to comfort her: “How is Cheng Jiang Je?” “Are you alright, Cheng Jiang Je?”

There were other people who were also suffering from motion sickness and
dismounted for a short rest.

The whole crew stopped for 10 minutes because of Cheng Jiang before they moved
out again.

When Cheng Jiang reentered the car, it was her assistant helping her. It seemed that
the nervousness Gu Jin had just shown was that of a director to his female lead.

Xu Yinshan stretched out her hand to help. Her heavily made up face was worried:
“Cheng Jiang Je, you alright?”

Cheng Jiang waved her hand and went pass Ye Qiao’s seat.

Xu Yinshan was already unhappy about Ye Qiao’s silence. She gave Ye Qiao a cold
glance: “Cheng Jiang Je has been uncomfortable the whole morning from the bumpy
drive and sitting in the back. You’re feeling fine, why are you unwilling to change
seats with her?”

She had already labeled Ye Qiao as unwilling before Ye Qiao had said a thing. If Ye
Qiao did offer the swap, it would seem quite pretentious now.

Ye Qiao didn’t move. Even Cheng Jiang turned to look at her. Ye Qiao met her eyes
and was surprised to see her eyes have “why bother” written all over them. It was the
same look as Gu Jin’s. That familiar look said more than just “why bother.”

Ye Qiao gave a self-deprecating smile and got up to help Cheng Jiang over: “Cheng
Jiang Je, sit over here.”

Ye Qiao didn’t bother looking at Xu Yinshan. She quietly moved to the back. Shen Ting
looked crossed, but had held her tongue. She moved Ye Qiao’s belonging to the back
and pouted in protest. Ye Qiao had a weak heart condition and her face was also pale
from the rough ride. Ye Qiao gave Shen Ting a look so she’d calm down.

Gu Jin spoke from the front of the car: “Sorry for the discomfort. We’ll be at Min Village
in another half an hour. Please bear with me, everyone.”

Ye Qiao grew drowsy and soon the noise disappeared.

She slept till they had arrived at the village.

The crew moved all the equipment from the vehicles to a farmhouse they had rented.
Most of the people in the car had already disembarked. Only Xu Yinshan was left in the
car, retouching her makeup. She saw in her little mirror that Ye Qiao had woken up,
sneered, and began exiting the vehicle.

Irritated by her behavior, Shen Ting complained: “What is she so cocky about…...She’s
probably watched too many of those dramas about palace infighting.”
