The Most Majestic You - Chapter 4 Part 2

The Most Majestic You
Chapter 4 Part 2

Qianxi checked the room number on the key and headed straight for the elevator.

She took off the suffocating formal dress.  It was well after midnight when she showered, hopefully washing off all of her bad luck.  Qianxi tossed and turned on the bed in the hotel room, but sleep refused to come.  She opened the friend group chat and sent an excerpt from a book.

“We would never openly wish to teach ourselves to never have a wish. But if we did, perhaps an unexpected blessing will feel like something falling from the sky or blown over by a nice wind. If the result is not satisfactory, then at least we can comfort ourselves knowing that we had no expectations to begin with.
------Qian Zhongshu  <Writings on the Edge of Life>”

There were still quite a few night owls up at this hour among her friends.

The comments at the bottom started to appear one after another, mostly from her close friends  in the “Night Shift Little Nurse Group”.  Yishui-er sent,  “Wow, our little princess is into literature now.” “Simmering chicken soup in the middle of the night?”  “Who provoked our Qianxi baby?”

Usually she was very used to the jokes, but now the more she looked at them the more she felt bad for some reason.

Just as she was about to turn off the phone, suddenly there a new “Like” popped up------Qin Xiao.

Qianxi hesitated a little, then opened the private chat window with Qin Xiao and sent a message.  “You still up?”

Qin Xiao replied instantly.  “Uhm.  I’m leading the team, working overtime.”

Qianxi felt guilty for interrupting her.  “You work really hard.”

Qin Xiao replied with smile.  “It’s always like this at the beginning of a start up. Why are you up in the middle of the night?”

Qianxi began to type, before deleting it.  This process repeated itself a few times.  She didn’t know how to explain her current situation.

She didn’t want to compromise easily, but she had no place to go.  She had some doubt about her own convictions, but she was unwilling to give up.

“I really envy you because your family supports you starting your own business.”

Qin Xiao quickly read between the lines.  “What’s wrong, did you have a falling out with your family?”

“Pretty much.”  But Qianxi wasn’t in the mood to continue and quickly switched topics.  “How is your company doing?”

“Everything is ready. As long as a streamer comes with enough resources, then we should have a very strong head start.”

“Streamer?”  She didn’t quite know about this industry.

“Uhm. Hosts for streaming various topics.  The main one is for video games, such as the most popular <The Continent>, StarCraft.  I’ve already been contacting several famous people lately, but there hasn’t been much progress yet. Internet streaming is a very new area and many professional players do not understand its value, so it’s normal to have difficulties  communicating with them.”

<The Continent>.  Wasn’t it the Chinese version of <Seventh Continent>?

Qin Xiao then sent another text.  “So we plan to find several stars to promote it first.  Isn’t your cousin a serious computer game fan?  I will probably need you to introduce me to her then~”

Her elder cousin, Ye Qiao, wasn’t just a serious gaming fan, she was a fanatic for horror and thriller video games.  She really couldn’t understand her.  She was a movie star famous for her artistic temperament, but she was so addicted to the game Hand Torn Zombies.

A message on WeChat popping in from another person.  It was from Xu Jimo after opened it.  “Do you have my identification card?”

She abruptly sat up with surprise and indeed found the card in her pocket.  After the front desk finished registration, they saw Xu Jimo had already left so they just gave her the card.  She was so exhausted at the time that she had forgotten to return it to him!

Qianxi sent a picture of a crying lama.  “It’s here…...I’m so sorry.  Should I bring it over to you tomorrow?”

“It’s no big deal.  I’ll pass by your hotel tomorrow.  See you then.”

“Ok.”  She sent a picture of a lama with fingers pointing at each other.

Xu Jimo quickly disappeared after they agreed on a time to meet.

Qianxi felt a little lost and returned to the chat window with Qin Xiao.  Qin Xiao was still excitedly laying plans to invite her famous elder cousin.  She didn’t have the heart to burst her bubble.  “It’s probably better to forget about it…...my cousin is a horror game maniac.  She will scare away users when she’s hosting.”

TL notes: She obviously doesn’t understand what makes a popular stream/youtube channel.

She then thought about something.  She pushed the image of Xu Jimo’s business card to WeChat.  “Ok, I can’t help you get a star, but I have one professional player.”

Qin Xiao glanced at Xu Jimo’s nickname, then shot back in shock,  “This is…...Xu Jimo? !”

Qin Xiao called directly before Qianxi could respond.

She was rather baffled as she answered the phone.  She was overwhelmed by Qin Xiao’s exciting voice.  “How do you know the K god?”

“From…...through company business.”

“You know him well?”

She wasn’t sure.  “Sort of……”

Aside from the fact that the room she was staying in had been registered under his ID and the lemonade she just finished drinking had been bought by him, they…...actually…...were not that familiar with each other?

“Do you have anyway to contact him and let me meet him? !”
