You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 153 Part 1

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 153 Part 1

Tong Yao went back to the break room and simply sat there, feeling rather down.

Her teammates were all quite attentive and her emotional state was soon discovered by the team’s support, or “nanny”, Little Fatty-- --Little Fatty stuffed the crackers in his hand into Lu Sicheng’s and turned around to ask Tong Yao: “What’s this?”

Lu Sicheng offhandedly lifted up Tong Yao’s chin and stuffed the crackers into her mouth. Then he tepidly said: “Haven’t lost enough times. Once things go against the wind, she shivers and is afraid of taking the blame. She’s scared to go on.”

Little Fatty was taken aback hearing it. But then he quickly changed his expression to indifference as if to say “oh, what’s the big deal, don’t scare me.”

“I’m not afraid of taking the blame……” With the crackers in her mouth, Tong Yao couldn’t speak clearly. She stared at Lu Sicheng, then chewed on the crackers as if they were Lu Sicheng’s head. After swallowing the crackers, she also took a sip of the green tea latte the staff had bought for them. The latte was sweet, but it didn’t save her from feeling miserable. She couldn’t think straight: “I’m nervous. I’ve never played such an important match-- --To make matters worse, I’ve met an insidious player like Ai Jia who I can’t really handle…… I thought about this while playing the match earlier and couldn’t come up with a better solution, so I thought it might be better for Lu Yue to go on.”

As she was talking, her fingers were scratching on the edge of the paper cup she was holding in her hand. Her movement indicated that she was still fretting.

Lu Sicheng nodded: “You spoke so much. You just haven’t lost enough.”

Tong Yao rolled her eyes and collapsed back into the chair.

Lu Yue giggled as he stretched out his long legs, just like his brother’s, next to her: “What, you want me to go up by yourself? It’s better if I go on, I can hide from Ai Jia all the way till the end of the match.”

Tong Yao picked up an empty cup next to her and threw it at Lu Yue. Lu Yue dodged and asked, still snickering: “This isn’t the first time you’ve lost to YQCB-- --We’ve lost to them once during the summer season. Besides, before when you were bullied by TAT’s Ah Tai and shivered whenever you saw him, what happened next? Is this how you reconstructed your confidence?”

“That time it was just a group match that we lost to YQCB. Besides, so many things had happened afterwards, I didn’t even have the time to really savor the taste of losing. As for Ah Tai, I just keep thinking he’s also a human being so I’m not that afraid of him anymore-- --Ah, but, nowadays whenever we have skirmishes with TAT, we never won if I was on. Ahhhh, what's the use of not being afraid of him, I simply can’t beat him. What to do, I’m quite desperate too!” Tong Yao looked up to take a look at Lu Sicheng who had pulled over a chair to sit right in front of Tong Yao. He leaned back into the chair and quietly looked at her. Tong Yao hesitated for a moment before continuing: “Besides it’s the finals. I wasn’t doing well just now. I’m afraid that I can’t adjust myself in time for the next match and hold all of you back.”

Everyone in the break room all looked at each other after hearing Tong Yao.

“My friend, there are all kinds of opponents in the esport world. You think you’re the legendary professional mid Faker who had never met an opponent equal to him-- --Even Faker dies in game. In your professional life, you're bound to meet an opponent who you can’t handle. At times like this, besides trying to run away, you should learn to stay low and give the chance to carry to the other teammates.” Lu Yue pointed at Lu Sicheng’s stone face: “During a match, you have this kind of person sitting right next to you. Haven’t you ever had the urge to just sit there and wait to win the game?”

Tong Yao: “......”

She never did. All she was thinking was I’m mid, I have to carry, I can’t mess up, I can’t just do nothing, I can’t hold others back, all of those things were not allowed-- --

Before she had the chance to say something, Lu Sicheng pushed Lu Yue’s hand away with a cold face. Lu Yue took his hand back and said: “Don’t always think that you have to carry in order to win the game. You can’t carry the team your whole life-- --My brother’s right. You just haven’t lost enough. If you’ve seen enough ways to lose a match, you’ll realize that everyone has the chance to take the blame. It’ll be your turn sooner or later…… Our teammate Old Cat’s being called our team’s weak point everyday. You’re a newcomer, what are you afraid of?”

Old Cat humphed: “Yeah, just sitting there waiting for the win makes me happy.”

Ming god raised his thumb at Lu Yue: “I’ll issue you a graduation certificate from kindergarten after we get home.”

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 2 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 2 Part 2

The spring chill was finally over after the Qingming Festival. Ruan Yu’s new novel <Really Want to Whisper in Your Ear> also started to be published on Jinjiang in installments.

Shen Mingying used to be an editor at Jinjiang and her assessment of the new novel had been quite accurate. Just as she had predicted, the pen name “Wenxiang” became a popular name once again after being silent for a year.
By the end of April, the new novel had leapt onto the most popular list on the site.
Soon after, a movie company contacted the site about the novel.

On a Thursday night in the beginning of May, Ruan Yu went to a restaurant downtown on a blind date after she had posted the chapter for the day.
She was forced to go, but she could understand her parents’ concerns. They weren’t necessarily in a hurry to marry her off, but were simply worried about her current condition.

She had graduated from college four years ago and hadn’t fallen in love a single time. Especially after she started writing, she didn’t even have a social life. Her parents were worried about her mental state.
Nowadays, social anxiety disorder is quite a common condition afterall.

Therefore, though they had arranged a blind date for her, their purpose was to have her go out to make some friends. If the two happened to click, then it would be even better if they became a couple.

Ruan Yu couldn’t get away from it and just thought of it as getting some personal experience in going on a blind date.

Considering it would be too awkward to meet for the first time in a small private room, both sides had chosen to meet in the main dining hall.

Her blind date, Mr. Liu, was three years older than Ruan Yu. He had a very clean face, had a gentle look and was pleasing to the eyes under the brilliant ceiling top lights. However, he didn’t seem used to doing this either and he acted rather uneasily the whole time. He seemed very nervous.

Before the dishes were served, they drank tea and chatted awkwardly. Once the dishes were served, both of them seemed to breath out a sigh of relief and started to concentrate on eating. Once they started eating, the atmosphere between the two relaxed somewhat.

The restaurant’s style was “big plate small bites”. All the food was quite delicate so one has to eat them elegantly. Ruan Yu ate a few bites of the main course, then lowered her head to drink the minced chicken soup when she heard Liu Mao ask her about her hobby or interests.

She put down the spoon and raised her head. Her shoulder length hair swang in an arc. She answered and being polite, also asked him about his profession: “I heard that Mr. Liu is a partner in a law firm, really it's as they say “young and promising”.”

Liu Mao became more relaxed as he spoke about his profession and modestly said: “I’m far from that. We have four partners in the firm, I’m the most junior one who’s doing all the actual work. Our most senior partner lives abroad most of the time. He’s really the awesome one.”

Ruan Yu didn’t know too much about the law profession and didn’t know what else to say. To avoid letting it become too awkward, she braced herself and continued the subject: “Living abroad and not doing the real work, then what does he do?”
Liu Mao shyly smiled: “Financial support.”

Ruan Yu also laughed.
Liu Mao glanced over the pair of crescent shaped eyes on Ruan Yu’s face and the pair of deep set dimples on her cheeks and was suddenly transfixed.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.
He hastily shook his head. He couldn’t tell her that he was captured by her looks. His phone rang right at that moment to save him from further embarrassment.
He said: “Sorry.” and took the phone with him as he got up. He walked all the way to a quiet corner in the restaurant: “Huaisong?”

There was a male voice from the other end: “En.”
Liu Mao checked his watch: “It’s almost 4 am over there, anything wrong?”
“I need a file and you haven’t replied.”
“Ah, sorry. I’m out of office on a blind date now. I’ll get someone to take care of it now.”

Liu Mao was ready to hang up the phone but heard the other end hesitatingly said: “......Blind date?”
“Yes, what about it?”
“Is it popular back home?”

Liu Mao laughed: “Yeah. You don’t have this kind of trouble in California, right?”
The other side also gave a short laugh: “It has nothing to do with location; it’s mainly because of your age.”
“......”

After poking fun at Liu Mao, the man on the other side told him to continue with his blind date and quickly hung up the phone.

The corner of Liu Mao twitched and called his staff to take care of the work. He put down his phone and walked back to the table. He was going to apologize to Ruan Yu again, but noticed that Ruan Yu was also on the phone and it looked like something wasn’t quite right.
Seeing Liu Mao had come back to the table, Ruan Yu gestured to apologize and lowered her voice to ask on the phone: “Is that so?” After a short while, she said: “I’ll be right back.”

When she put down the phone, Liu Mao hurriedly asked: “Is there anything wrong, Miss Ruan?”
“I’m sorry, something seems to have gone wrong with my work. I have to go back now.”
“It’s quite alright. Work comes first. Let me take you back.”

Ruan Yu declined but Liu Mao insisted. Ruan Yu decided to accept the offer.

The traffic in the city was quite congested at this hour in the evening. Ruan Yu turned on her cell phone to check Jinjiang while she was still in the car.

Shen Mingying had frantically informed her earlier on the phone that someone had posted on the Jinjiang anonymous forum “Bishui Jiangting” saying that <Really Want to Whisper in Your Ear> and another short story in progress on the site <Her Eyes Can Smile> had a strong feeling of deja vu. Just based on the chapters being published so far from both stories, there were eleven identical events in the story.

The poster had listed the similar events in columns, highlighted in different colors. The result was quite startling. The conclusion was that Wenxiang’s <Really Want to Whisper in Your Ear> was now being suspected of plagiarism.
In less than one hour, there were over two thousand replies to this post.

To have a similar plot wasn’t terrible. What’s terrible was that there were multiple similar events. What was even worse was that the other story had been published earlier than Ruan Yu’s. From the look of it, there seemed to be no way she could clear her name.
In addition, this poster seemed to have come prepared. The poster had reported to the site before he/she posted the comparison and only posted half of the comparison columns, the rest would come later.

Ruan Yu wasn’t too worried at first since she didn’t think it was possible. She was planning to wait till the blind date was over then go home to get to the bottom of it.
Yet Shen Mingying told her: “You better take care of it as soon as possible. I’ve looked over it, all eleven events are the same even in detail. Even the background campus is the same. Quite a few conversations are similar too.”

“The most obvious difference is that yours is from the female perspective while the other one…… is from the male perspective.”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 152 Part 4

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 152 Part 4

At the 38th minute, 29th second, three ZGDX players killed YQCB’s bot duo. YQCB’s jungler Gragas rushed over to help but didn’t arrive in time to save his teammates. At the same time, ZGDX’s Elise slung herself skywards to avoid Ashe’s ultimate and killed Gragas the moment she landed back on ground. After killing three enemies almost simultaneously, ZGDX then took down the Elder Dragon! !

ZGDX, now with Elder Dragon’s buff, destroyed two of YQCB’s turrets, one after the other. Then they also killed the enemy top, Gangplank, to caught up to the other side’s gold count and then went beyond-- --

Everyone called out in amazement again: Damn, a clash between Titans!

At the 45th minute, the two teams started another fight over Baron. YQCB had weakened Lu Sicheng first before initiating the fight as a last-ditch effort to come back on top. They didn’t expect Lu Sicheng would stand way behind Little Fatty and target his ultimate solidly on the enemy's jungler and kill him. Old K’s Elise, at the same time, slung down to the Baron pit and secured Baron with smite!

The audience stood up, applauded, and cheered!

Commentator A: [The almanac today really has everything written out! ! ! ! -- --Whoever starts making trouble will get shortchanged!]

At the 48th minute, 11th second mark, ZGDX led a wave of minions into the enemy’s base. They killed the other side’s top Gangplank, then their ad Ashe, and only the tanky Ekko, mid, was left shivering. The first round had thus ended!

……

Tong Yao took off her headphones. There was no smile on her face, instead she looked somewhat pale. Not only had she failed to carry the team’s momentum when she had the advantage in the early game, but instead somehow got herself killed. The team almost went down with her at the same time…… Fortunately, at that fight for Baron, Old Cat took the risk to teleport there and take down Baron, turning the game around for ZGDX. Otherwise, she would be the one that would be blamed if they lost this round.

A player’s mindset, skill, and even the ability to grasp the overall situation are all trainable. But a player’s play style is hard to change.

…...She remembered that ever since she started playing professionally, Lu Sicheng had said that a player like Ai Jia who has a steady playstyle and always looks for opportunities to strike would be her jinx. Judging from what had happened today, it seemed quite true.

The kind of dreadful feeling she felt after losing the match in the group round, which she thought she had already overcome, had now swept over her again…… On her way back to the breakroom, Tong Yao was a bit absent-minded and almost fell from a misstep on the stairs off the stage-- --Luckily, Lu Sicheng who was behind her reached over in time to steady her. After taking off his headphones after the match, Lu Sicheng had been keeping an eye on her.

Tong Yao looked up and met those dark brown eyes. She paused for a moment, then turned her hand around to grab Lu Sicheng’s sleeve: “Let Lu Yue play the next round.”

“......” Lu Sicheng took a glance at her, released his hold on her hand, then turned his head away: “No switching. Rotations are only for strategies.”

“But this is the finals. Such an important match, you can’t-- --”

“This is only a regional competition and you’ve become so fragile that you habitually run away from it. When we’re playing the international competition, every round will be very important and you expect Lu Yue to finish playing every round for you?-- --Today’s a best of 5, you’ll have to finish playing all of it even if your life's on the line.”

“......”

Tong Yao jumped up to hit his head, then turned around to find Xiao Rui.

Xiao Rui was nowhere to be found. Then she heard Lu Sicheng use an indifferent tone of voice to say behind her: “I said no switching and that’s it. No need to beg others.”

Tong Yao: “......”

Lu Sicheng was her boyfriend.

But when they went on stage, he was just the callous Captain Lu.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 152 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 152 Part 3

Tong Yao had three misconceptions which contributed to her mistake-- --

I have an advantage.

I can carry.

I can get a kill.

After Tong Yao died, she saw a wave of minions move up and signaled Old K to come and farm the minions so they don’t go to waste. Meantime she could only watch helplessly as Ai Jia’s creep score caught up to her and even go beyond hers……

The match had reached the 12th minute, the gold gap between the two teams had shrunk to about 700, which was an insignificant amount-- --An opponent that keeps looking for opportunities to make up their differences in economy was a tough opponent to deal with. YQCB hounded them, looking for weaknesses, and constantly employed diversionary tactics, before long they had gradually made up the disadvantage they had suffered earlier.

Tong Yao grew rather cautious after her death from being too prideful. Nevertheless, that experience seemed to have been a breaking point for her. In the following five minutes, YQCB’s jungler and support duo had come over three times. They managed to kill Tong Yao in one of the three attacks and forced her to use flash in another one. She had to return to home base with a sliver of health left……

On her way back, she again watched another wave of minions that she couldn’t get. She felt like her heart was bleeding and misstepped on the edge of a cliff-- --Her teammates were all quiet for a while, then Little Fatty comforted her: “Steady, steady, it’s alright.” Lu Sicheng’s calm voice also chimed in: “Don’t worry, it’s alright.”

Tong Yao bit her lower lip: “No, it’s not alright. I’m in big trouble.”

Everyone: “......”

Tong Yao was having a difficult time since the other side was targeting her. She couldn’t even farm properly. For a whole five minutes, her development speed was only half of the opposing mid…… Though Lu Sicheng was a bit ahead on creep score, he was pinned down by Pope at bot and couldn’t go anywhere else. The only help that Little Fatty’s Tahm could offer was assisting Tong Yao in escaping. Tahm’s ability to initiate small scale team fights was not as good as the opposing team’s Bard……

The match was dragging into the mid game.

By this point, ZGDX had completely lost their small advantage. It was YQCB which was in control of the tempo of the game now and their economy had surpassed ZGDX.

Seeing that Lu Sicheng was locked at bot by Pope and couldn’t take over the game, Tong Yao called Old K to come help look for opportunities to counter attack-- --After another few small scale team fights, ZGDX still didn’t gain the lead and their economy was lagging even further behind. ZGDX had to give up on looking for fights but to focus on developing……

At the 27th minute, YQCB took down an ocean drake.

At the 32nd minute, ZGDX’s top teleported to mid and worked in coordination with Lu Sicheng’s ultimate to tear YQCB’s bot duo apart. But YQCB’s Gragas blew all four of them up, then he worked with Gangplank’s powder keg, blasting ZGDX so that they were all on the verge of death. Tong Yao’s Syndra threw a Dark Sphere at Ekko, but Ekko was still able to clean up all four ZGDX players with help from his ultimate-- --YQCB was able to get back on top by losing their duo at bot, netting two extra kills.

At the 32nd minute, 11th second, YQCB started to fight Baron. Old K’s Elise went down to Baron’s arena to try and steal the kill, but died instead.

The entire audience thought that YQCB was in control of the game’s tempo now.

At the 33rd minute, 8th second, Old Cat’s Lissandra respawned and teleported to his ward in the bush near blue buff, directly under Baron’s arena, and forced herself in. She worked with Lu Sicheng’s Jhin to stun the other side’s weakened Gangplank and kill him. At the same time, Little Fatty rushed over and swallowed Old Cat, who had only a sliver of health left, and ran away. Tong Yao also rushed over to take care of the rest, killing the three remaining weakened YQCB players!

Everyone shouted in amazement: Damn, a turn-based strategy game!

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 152 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 152 Part 2

As they were bickering, Pope’s q ability had already reached the maximum number of Focus stacks, which increases Ashe’s attack speed, and rushed forward striking with multiple basic attacks before unleashing her w ability, “volley.” As her arrows flew at him, Little Fatty, noticing that both flash and exhaust were still on cooldown, began trying to retreat under the turret. As he did so, the enemy Gragas suddenly appeared and seemed to be planning on using his exploding barrels to force Little Fatty forwards into Ashe’s attack range, who could then finish him off from outside the turret’s range-- --

Unfortunately for the enemy team, their coordination was a little off. Their support cast exhaust on Lu Sicheng as Pope dove under the turret and followed right behind Pope, but he was a bit too slow at starting to tank hits from the turret as Pope had already been hit a couple times. Though Little Fatty had a sliver of health left, he was able to devour Pope. At the same time, Lu Sicheng used heal to help Little Fatty’s flagging health. By the time Little Fatty regurgitated Pope, his health bar was in a poor state, just like Little Fatty’s.

Old K yelled: “I can’t go over! Mid Ai Jia’s blocking me! Tong Yao! Come beat him up!”

At the same time, Ashe failed at her tower dive and could only use heal and flash to run away before all her health was gone-- --Seeing he had lost the chance to kill Ashe, Little Fatty angrily slapped down on the keyboard: “Damn, he’d be dead if only my exhaust was back two seconds earlier! ! ! ! !”

“If you had your exhaust, he wouldn’t have come up so hastily.” Lu Sicheng was rather calm: “He’s very good at tower diving and quite accurate at calculating this sort of thing, he just won’t die unless their jungler and support don’t arrive in time to back him up…… This time around, the success of his tower dive all depended on the jungler and support tanking properly.”

Lu Sicheng had just finished talking as Tong Yao, who had already worked together with Old K to force the other side’s mid back, blocked the retreating jungler, then killed him-- --

First blood!

After the intense tower dive at bot, mid followed with a kill!

Amid the loud applause and laughter from the audience, Commentator A kept talking: [The beginning of this match clearly tells us that the almanac says today is not a good day to initiate any trouble; the one making trouble will usually have to pay a heavy price.]

Commentator B: [Then, later on, whoever initiates the fight against Baron-- --]

Commentator A: [..................................Don’t say it. I’m scared.]

YQCB failed at their first tower dive attempt and their bot duo was forced to return home. In addition, ZGDX’s mid had killed their jungler. Tong Yao and Old K went down to bot to team up with Little Fatty and Lu Sicheng to push the outer turret at YQCB’s bot-- --At this time, Ai Jia went up to top to work together with Top Rongrong to push ZGDX’s top outer turret. However, ZGDX moved faster than YQCB, after getting the 650 gold from destroying the turret, they also took down the first drake immediately afterwards.

The match had been going on for nine minutes and the economic gap between the two teams was about 1500 gold. The duo at bot switched lanes to top and the match, after a little period of chaos, had returned to the laning phase.

Commentator A: [With one kill in hand and a several dozen lead in farm, Smiling should be feeling quite good now.]

Commentator B: [It’s hard to say; it depends on who she’s facing in lane-- --Ai Jia is the kind of player who’s good at looking for opportunity when under pressure. Facing him during the laning phase would be troublesome if she thinks she has the advantage and plans to kill him.]

What happened next proved that Commentator B truly had the potential to be a jinx. Right after his words, Tong Yao moved forward, cleared the minions, and threw a Dark Sphere at Ai Jia but he managed to avoid it. Then Ai Jia moved backwards a little bit-- --Tong Yao didn’t think too much about it but moved in simply because she felt that she could kill him-- --She entered the range of the turret and was stunned by Ekko. Ekko came and casted a combo of abilities plus his ultimate, then retreated out of Tong Yao’s attack range. Tong Yao’s health diminished quickly and she wanted to retreat. As she was moving out of the turret’s range, Gragas, who had just respawned, came up and blew Tong Yao back under the range of the turret and successfully got Tong Yao killed!

Commentator A: [Aiya, she’s too hasty this time. Too hasty!]

Commentator B: [What did I just say! Ai Jia is very good under pressure. No matter how much of an advantage you have, he can still fight back! Now another wave of minions is coming, Smiling’s going to lose on a whole wave of minions and all the advantages she had built up earlier will be wiped out! She’s really getting in over her head.]

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 2 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 2 Part 1

In April, the weather in Hang City was still unstable. The temperature had risen for the past few days, but once it was time for the Qingming Festival, it started drizzling again.[1]

On the last day of the festival, Ruan Yu went to meet Shen Mingying. Once she was out of her apartment, she shivered from the cold drizzle blowing into her face. She had to go back to put on a heavier overcoat before heading downstairs again. She went to a coffee shop and gathered her umbrella before going in.
The moisture lingering on her eyelashes gradually evaporated.

In the private room, Shen Mingying had already ordered coffee. Once she saw Ruan Yu’s attire, a cotton sweatshirt with a woolen coat, she frankly pointed out: “You’ve really become more and more informal now. You think you can do whatever you want just because you have a pretty face?”
“It’s already good enough that I was willing to wash my hair for you. I’m not here to walk the runway.”

“Being single, you have to have the awareness that you can have a romantic encounter at any moment.” Shen Mingying cast a sidelong glance at Ruan Yu, then pushed the laptop forward: “Anyway, give me the flash drive. Let me take a look at what a willful writer like you has come up with.”

Ruan Yu took out the white flash drive from her bag and handed it over. Then she picked up the latte and took a sip while checking Weibo on her cell phone. When she saw anything funny, she would share with Shen Mingying.
Shen Mingying would have a laugh with her in the beginning. But then she started to concentrate on the screen on her laptop and grew very quiet.

“What’s wrong?” Ruan Yu put down her phone and asked.
Shen Mingying slowly looked up from the screen: “This story looks like it’s going to be a hit……”
“Didn’t you say last time……”

Shen Mingying waved her hand, interrupting Ruan Yu. As if she had just found a gem, she was too excited to say anything for a while: “What I said before was about the kind of story that's divorced from reality. But this one is a real campus life close to most people’s personal experience. It’s easy for readers to empathize with it.”

Ruan Yu was writing about the First High School of Su City. It certainly would be close to reality.
She moved forward and asked as if she wanted more praise: “And?”

What’s more was that every time Ruan Yu got her thoughts straightened out, she wrote exquisitely. She had been writing for five years and among writers who had been writing for a similar amount of years, she was one of the top writers.
One senior writer had commented on her work-- --In a few words, she could tap the decadent from romance then in the end turn the decadence into splendor. This young lady’s writing is too crisp.

Shen Mingying would simply characterize her as a “proficient” writer. She rolled the mouse a few times and sighed: “Writing based on personal experience really tugs at one’s heartstrings. Very well, it’s a typical example of deep affection.”

“Don’t poke fun at me!”
“Who was the one who talked over and over about Xu Huaisong everyday next to my ear back then?”
Ruan Yu mumbled in a small voice: “Who hadn’t had a chuunibyou past?”
“That means” Shen Mingying glanced at her: “you don’t like him at all now?”

Ruan Yu nodded.

If it wasn’t for that diary, she actually wouldn’t have recalled much about Xu Huaisong nowadays. Even as she was writing in the past few days and reminisced about everything related to him, what was left was just a faint feeling of sadness.
It was almost like the feeling she had for the old house.
Affection? They hadn’t seen each other for eight years. Would there really be someone that sentimental?

Ruan Yu added: “If I hadn’t already gotten over it, would I torment myself by writing this book?”
“Make sense.” Shen Mingying: “Tsk, but you aren’t afraid that he’ll discover this book? That would be rather embarrassing.”

Ruan Yu said: “No, it won’t happen.” The novel would be written from the female lead’s perspective and would be fictionalized and adapted. So many years have passed, who could recognize the prototypes of the characters?
Besides, she felt that Xu Huaisong at the time had never matched her name with her appearance. In addition, would a person who didn’t seem to belong to this world read romance novels?

Ruan Yu’s phone rang.
Shen Mingying noticed that she had changed her ringtone to a piano piece. She suddenly remembered a plot she had just read where the female lead hid in the school flower bed eavesdropping on the male lead playing the piano.
She seemed to understand something: “So it’s that song <After the Rain>.”

Ruan Yu nodded while answering the phone: “Mom.” After a few exchanges, she said: “I’ll be over.”
“What’s up?” Shen Mingying asked.
“My mom has come to visit my apartment suddenly.”
“Then you go ahead.”

Ruan Yu stood up to gather her things. Before she left, she said: “I figure she’s here to persuade me to go for blind dates.”
“Then how do you plan to escape from it?”
Ruan Yu frowned: “She comes up from the suburb herself on such a cold and rainy day. I probably can’t get away from it this time.”

Ruan Yu picked up her umbrella and hurried away.
Shen Mingying laughed and gloated at the news towards Ruan Yu’s back: “Don’t forget to stream it then!”

In the beginning of the match, under the audience’s watchful eyes, Little Fatty moved his champion, a catfish that was equally as plump as he, and waddled up to the lane-- --He had passed his team’s own jungle-- --swaggered across the river-- --before squatting in the bushes of YQCB’s jungle. Little Fatty started to laugh wryly.

Lu Sicheng: “Be that way. If you get killed for being too careless, then you don’t have to come back.”

Little Fatty ignored Lu Sicheng. When the system announced “Minions have spawned”, the minions began charging out of both side’s bases. YQCB’s duo at bot started to fight the big and small krugs in the jungle and intended on taking these two down before going into their lane. Little Fatty, relying on the fact that his champion was quite tanky, waited till the little krug only had a sliver of health left to jump out from the bushes and licked the little krug-- --

But he failed to grab the little krug from YQCB.

After taking the experience from killing the krugs, Pope turned to continuously strike Little Fatty . Little Fatty turned around and scurried away using flash-- --As he was scrambling away, Little Fatty only flashed a few millimeters forward and crashed into a wall. In ZGDX’s team channel, there were sounds of-- --

Tong Yao: “Oof”

Old K: “Oof!”

Old Cat: “Oof!”

Lu Sicheng: “What a Silver move.”

Little Fatty’s champion only had a third of his health now. After drinking his health potion, he hurriedly turned around and used his second summoner spell “exhaust” on Pope to slow down his movements and reduce his damage. Then he barely survived!

It was a typical example of going for wool and coming back shorn!

Tong Yao: “Bot’s starting on hard mode.”

Old K: “Fooling around.”

Old Cat: “The moment Little Fatty passed by the river, bot had ended. Old K comes up to top when you’re level 3. I’ll carry this round.”

“You carry what. They are laughing at our top as being a two-man top and you still call Old K up to help you. Don’t you know what shame is?” Little Fatty nagged at Old Cat while frightenedly swaddling back to next to Lu Sicheng.

Lu Sicheng was steadily farming at the moment. When he saw his support who had only a sliver of health left had come back to hide behind him, the corner of his eyes twitched and he pinged the floor: “Why did you come back here for? It’s better you get killed over there and go back to spring afk.”

Little Fatty giggled: “Back to mess you up.”

Lu Sicheng: “......”

The team’s channel was quiet for three seconds. Then everyone realized the reason why Little Fatty had played support for Lu Sicheng for four seasons and never had won a warm spot in his heart-- --It was a result that had been created by Little Fatty himself little by little day after day. Up till this day, it probably had taken up all the tolerance and care in Lu Sicheng’s lifetime for him to not go afk at an official competition or give Little Fatty a good beating.

Three minutes into the match, both bot and mid reached level three, one after the other. Based on Pope’s habits, he would try to get a kill before reaching level four. Even if he wasn’t in a good condition, he would still call up their jungler to help him tower dive-- --Lu Sicheng knew Pope’s tendencies and had seen him doing it many times in training matches, so once his champion had reached level three, Lu Sicheng signaled Old K to come stay at bot. He was sure the other side’s jungler would for sure come to bot since Little Fatty had neither his exhaust or flash like a big fat sheep exposed to a hungry wolf. It didn’t make sense for the other side to not come for him……

Little Fatty: “I can feel the greedy looks from the other side. They’re sizing me up and down.”

Lu Sicheng: “It’s only normal. You were the one who tried to show off in their territory earlier after all.”

Little Fatty: “I was trying to trick Pope to use his flash to chase me, alright? Who knew that he wouldn’t take the bait.”

Tong Yao laughed while farming: “He’s not dumb. Besides, the only one who can trick Li Junhe in this world is Lu Sicheng.”

Little Fatty humphed and said: “Snob!”

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 1 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 1 Part 2

After coming back to Hang City, Ruan Yu started to brainstorm her new story and finished the outline in three days. It was the first time in 11 months of writer’s block when ideas for a story flowed out of her like a spring.

She sent the outline to Shen Mingying’s email. Then she received Shen’s WeChat message: [Aren’t these stories between you and Xu Huaisong?]
[You can say that.]
[You plan to take up the challenge of writing a pathetic story about a female lead’s one-sided crush on the male lead?]

Shen’s words stung her.
Ruan Yu sent a voice chat: “Would I be dumb enough to dig my own grave? It’s not going to be a documentary. If the male lead doesn’t like the female lead, how can it be called a romance?”

Xu Huaisong didn’t like her, but art is inspired by life and can go beyond it. Why couldn’t she adapt the pathetic one-sided crush into a two-way crush?

Shen Mingying asked amusedly: “Understood. So this is going to be the story about the author’s own fantasies.”
Ruan Yu was speechless. Yet, what she had said wasn’t wrong either.

“Alright, then. But I have to remind you. The kind of tall and aloof male persona like Xu Huaisong isn’t that popular nowadays. In addition, with those disadvantageous elements like the school and crush, I figure this novel won’t do that well.”

Ruan Yu didn’t seem to take it to heart. She laughed and said: “I’ll give it a try. If it doesn’t go well, I’ll just think of it as personal amusement. You said it too, it’s just a personal fantasy.”

After hanging up the phone, Ruan Yu poured herself a glass of milk tea and sat in front of the computer. She started to flip through the diary to find some entries that she could try her hands on. She hadn’t written for so long, she had to get the feeling back first.
She stopped on a page which had much more words than the other pages.

The page was crammed with words and the handwriting was lively, each stroke seemed to indicate her surging feelings. The date of the entry was New Year’s day, when she was in 12th grade.

Ruan Yu searched her memory and remembered what had happened that day.
That day was the day she got to be the nearest to Xu Huaisong in her entire time in high school.

The school had organized a firework party at midnight on New Year’s Eve that year. The sports field was filled with people. She pretended to be inadvertently standing right next to his right hand side. What she didn’t expect was the moment when the fireworks started exploding, he suddenly held her hand.

She shockingly turned her head, but only saw the apologetic expression on his face under the flashing lights from the fireworks.
He released her, pushed up the thin-framed eyeglasses on his nose, and embarrassedly said: “Sorry, wrong person.”

Ruan Yu wrote this incident into the file.
But she figured that when readers read about this, they probably would have the same thought as she had at the time: since the male lead said “wrong person,” then there must be a “right” person. Therefore, it seemed the “right” person wasn’t the female lead.
It sucked! Discarded!

She held her head and pondered some more, then added one more line. She added: After saying so, his heart thumped like the beating of drums and his chest was pounding louder than the exploding fireworks above.
-- --With the added line, it implied that “the wrong person” was only the male lead’s excuse.

After she finished writing it, Ruan Yu took a sip of milk tea.
Somehow she did feel that she was just entertaining herself.

*

Around the same time, more than a hundred kilometers away, at an area in Su City which was about to be demolished, a young lady wearing a school uniform ran down the stairs from the attic of the house with a box in her hands: “Mom, is there any use for all this junk?”
Tao Rong took a peak in the box: “This is all your brother’s stuff from his high school years. Pack them up.”

Xu Huaishi said: “Oh.” She put down the dusty box and took out an old cell phone from inside the box: “He used such an obsolete phone when he was in highschool? It does have a vintage feel to it.”
“We were afraid to distract him from his studies, so we specially bought this phone for him.” Tao Rong gave her a glance and said: “Don’t mess up your brother’s stuff.”

“It’s just a broken cell phone. It can’t turn on without a battery……” As she was mumbling, she randomly clicked on the buttons. Suddenly the screen of the cell phone lit up. She jumped.

So many years had passed and the phone was still functional. Was this a cell phone or a fighter plane?
Xu Huaishi was taken aback. Seeing her mother was coming her way, she hid the cell phone and squatted down pretending she was busy sorting through the junk. Then she turned around to discreetly play with the phone.

This phone wasn’t a smart phone. There was no passcode after turning on the phone. By holding down the start key and clicking “confirm”, the phone could be unlocked. She randomly clicked on different keys and easily reached the home page. With a couple more clicks, she saw “contacts”.
But there wasn’t even one name inside.
She returned to the “message” page, there was no message there either.

She thought, very well, this was very “Xu Huaisong” like.
There was nothing there. She was planning to turn the phone off. Before she backed out, she noticed that right next to the “draft” box there was the number 327 on it.

Three hundred twenty seven drafts? Was her brother doing math calculations on this outdated phone?

Xu Huaishi hesitated for a moment, then clicked on it, and read a random one.
The receiver was left blank. Date created: 12:10 AM, January 1st, 2010. The contents: [I lied. It’s not the wrong person. Happy New Year.]

Xu Huaishi’s hand shook. She could smell puppy love even across from the screen.
Puppy love? A person like her brother?

The way she was holding the phone became rather reverent.
Because it was possible that this wasn’t just any outdated cell phone, it was actually…… a new world which hadn’t been discovered by anyone.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 151 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 151 Part 3

Commentator A: [Welcome to the finals of 2016 major league summer competition. Now the match will officially start with the ban & pick phase!]

Amid the passionate mood of the audience, with the announcement from the commentator, the much anticipated match was finally going to begin-- --The setup on the competition platform was different from other matches. Special background music for the ban & pick phase was playing and abstract images of the teams’ logos twisted and extended on the floor on the stage following the beat of the background music. It had pretty much upgraded this event to the same level as an Olympic game or a super sports event. The internet addicted teenagers in the audience were marveled by the sight!

Commentator A: [Now all the players are in their seats and have put on their soundproof headphones. The doors of the soundproof rooms are closed, too….. The soundproof rooms used in this final competition are well ventilated. Don’t worry, your idols won’t suffocate inside.]

Commentator B: [Alright, let’s take a look. The first thing YQCB did was to ban Leblanc which is very reasonable-- --To be fair, sometimes Smiling doesn’t take Leblanc either because she didn’t have the chance to or because ZGDX didn’t want others to see how she played her. But now it’s the finals, there’s no reason to hide it anymore. Therefore, it’s a safe move to ban it.]

Commentator A: [ZGDX just banned Kalista, the champion that made both Chessman and Pope famous. As if they were saying: Brother, let’s not play Kalista now. Save her for when we’re in the world competition to play against others.]

The audience burst into laughter.

Commentator B: [YQCB followed up by banning Twisted Fate! Hahahahahahahaha, all of Smiling’s favorites are banned. I know you’re good at using assassin type champions and I just won’t let you have them. Isn’t that so irritating!]

Commentator A: [What about the “come out and face me” she just said!]

The commentators spoke passionately.

The ban & pick phase for ZGDX was also quite noisy-- --

Tong Yao: “After banning my Leblanc, they banned my Twisted Fate as well, damn. I haven’t played Twisted Fate for so long and they still remember it! Are you sure the security is really airtight…… Lu Sicheng, it can’t be that you've been tricked by your dear friend backstage and carelessly spilled the beans. Otherwise, how could they know that I’m planning on taking Twisted Fate?”

Lu Sicheng: “They can fight their way all the way to the finals, they aren’t some dummy team. You’re good at Twisted Fate but haven’t been using it for too long. They knew you were saving it for now-- --Besides, I tricked Li Junhe last time, do you think he’s going to fall for it again?”

Tong Yao: “......”

Lu Sicheng: “Once we’re in the arena, he’s been avoiding me like I’m the plague. He probably would put a zipper on his mouth if he could.”

As he was talking, Lu Sicheng banned Karma.

Tong Yao: “You seem sad that he ignores you.”

Lu Sicheng: “I’m sad. I’m such a nice person and he was so guarded against me like I’m a thief. Heart broken.”

Ming god slapped the two chatty players with the folder in his hand: “It’s the summer season finals already, can’t you two be more serious? Is this the time to commemorate your past friendship-- --Little Fatty, ban Azir. It’s no big deal if all five of our bans are mid champions. We don’t have Lu Yue playing today anyway.”

Little Fatty said oh and banned Azir.

The other side returned the favor by banning Vladimir.

The final result was exactly like Ming god said it would be. There were five banned mid champions. To the fans and commentators who knew ZGDX well, the result wasn’t something surprising at all.

The ban & pick phase ended.

There weren’t many champions left for the mids to choose from afterwards. Old Cat took the first chance to grab Syndra for Tong Yao. On the other side, Pope and Liangsheng took Ashe and Bard. Old K took Lissandra, which the other side might choose as their mid champion, for Old Cat for top. Then, Ai Jia basically only had Ekko left for him to pick-- --

The ban & pick phase for both sides went by rather quickly.

Even the commentators were amazed at how well prepared both teams were. Both sides didn’t hesitate about which champion to pick and were clean-cut in their decisions…… It took only half the usual time to finish-- --

ZGDX’s choices: Lissandra, Elise, Syndra, Jhin, and Tahm.

YQCB’s choices: Gangplank, Gragas, Ekko, Ashe, and Bard.

The first match of a best of five of the finals of the 2016 summer competition, with ZGDX against YQCB, finally started.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 151 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 151 Part 2

The exchange between Ai Jia and Tong Yao seemed to have the smell of gunpowder. The audience was marveled by it. Tong Yao calmly said: “Recording the video in a small room probably aroused his animalistic side. After he finished the recording, he had to apologize to me with Jin Yang twisting his ear.”

Lu Sicheng: “You can still destroy him even if he apologized.”

Tong Yao nodded: “Right. I’ll let him eat his own words.”

[Junglers]

Old K: My jungle is mine, his jungle is also mine.

(cutaway)

Xbang (looking at the camera confusedly): (with a Xinjiang accent) Is that what he said?

Xbang (turning nervous): (with a Xinjiang accent) It can’t be. I won’t give it!

……

The confusing look on Xbang’s face was so cute that everyone including the players were laughing. Even Old K, with one hand supporting his head, was laughing so hard that his body shook. He waved his arm at the jungler sitting in the next soundproof room and shouted: “You won’t have any choice but to hand it over to me!”

[Tops]

Rongrong: I’ll challenge him one on one. Tell him not to bring his buddy.

(cutaway)

Old Cat: Bring what buddy?

(cutaway)

Rongrong: Everyone knows that ZGDX’s top lane is a two-person lane. I heard that occasionally when the jungler doesn’t come up to top, this particular top would get irritated and give him the silent treatment. So childish.

(cutaway)

Old Cat (reaching over to scratch the red hair on his head): (bleeped)-- --Does he have a death wish? Where did he hear that if Old K doesn’t come by that I’ll get irritated and give him the silent treatment? ! I’ll send him a letter from a lawyer for spreading rumors like this!

……

Little Fatty: “Your ability to lie through your teeth is first rate..”

Old Cat indignantly said: “I think so too.”

Little Fatty: “I’m talking about you.”

Old Cat: “......”

Old K: “Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!”

The segment ended with the audience in a delighted mood, still savoring the exchanges between the players. Then background music started to play and on the large screen, it started to show the promotional video for this year’s summer competition which had been recorded before the beginning of the season-- --

All twelve teams in the major league and every player of each team were shown in the video. In the beginning of the video, it was a scorching sunny day which symbolized the major league which had performed pretty well during S2 and S3 internationally. Then the sky turned from sunny to cloudy, a thunderstorm suddenly descended. Twisted pop-top cans danced in the wind, abusive graffiti was written on the walls, a mouse stayed put next to a trash can, and the players came out from a heap of rubble with brisk steps, faster and faster-- --Players from the last few teams began to run in the thunderstorm; Red Arrow, Huawei, CK, and the last one was ZGDX-- --The five players of ZGDX dashed in the rain. The camera pulled nearer, closed in on the faces of each player. In the end, when the five players had run to the end of the alley, the camera gave a close up shot of Lu Sicheng. One of his feet stepped into a puddle at the end of the dilapidated alley, splashing water all over the place!

Accompanied by the boom of thunder, the splashing water beads transformed into broken glass pieces as if the spell of the stormy weather had been broken-- --The sky grew calm after the storm and sunlight broke through the clouds.

Parts of the video had been shown numerous times during the summer competition and only now everyone was finally able to see the whole episode-- --From sunny to stormy, it represented how the major league had been doing in international competitions throughout the years. The metaphor in each scene indicated the status of the region was gut wrenching to the fans until the scene when Lu Sicheng trampled the gloominess into pieces-- --

The whole audience stood up at that very moment, cheering, applauding, and chanting “LPL”![1]

[1]: The title of the Chinese profession league is “League of Legends Pro League” normally shortened to LPL.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 151 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 151 Part 1

Right after the opening ceremony and before the official match, there was a segment where the organizer broadcasts pre-recorded messages from the two opposing teams, where the players either brag about themselves or diss the other team. It was a customary segment in the finals of every year and was designed to add some lighthearted fun to the event-- --

But there had been occasions, even in other regions, where a certain player went overboard boasting about himself and was bullied so badly after he had lost the game that he had to retire from playing professionally.

Both teams had gone into the soundproof rooms and sat down in their own seats. The large screen behind them started to broadcast those pre-recorded conversations. The door to the soundproof room wasn’t closed and the players hadn’t put on their headphones either. They all turned to look at the large screen with the audience……

[Supports]

Liangsheng: What to say? Haha, we won the group matches, so we shouldn’t have any problem winning the finals, right? It hasn’t been an easy year for us; a relegation team in the spring season and champion of the summer season. Like a story from the novels, perfect.

(cutaway)

Little Fatty: I can win at bot even if I just keep a dog there, besides, what we keep there isn’t just any dog, it’s a dog god.

……

Amidst the laughter of the audience, Tong Yao could clearly hear someone shout between fits of laughter that Little Fatty’s head had too much “hot air.” Lu Sicheng clapped his hands and chuckled: “Very well, in the future there’ll be phrases like “can win even with a dog” on your cheering boards.”

Little Fatty complacently giggled but before he could say anything in response, he heard Lu Sicheng continue: “Aiya. The point is you have to have fans to make the cheering board for you. Dog walker, do you have fans?”

Little Fatty: “......”

[Ads]

Chessman: Why not stay in Korea so we don’t bother each other? Why bother coming over to the China major league to challenge me? It doesn’t make sense to let him be without teaching him a lesson. I’ll make him admit defeat in his heart and with his words.

(cutaway)

Pope: (In Korean with Chinese subtitles) For a long time, I’ve been asked over and over-- --Who’s the number one ad in the world, you or Chessman-- --This question is too bothersome and wearisome. We should give everyone a chance to see it clearly. That's the reason I came to China. It would be more interesting to defeat him in his own turf. If possible, I would like to see his remorseful tears when I lift up that champion cup.

(cutaway)

Chessman (smiling): Did he say that? What’s so bothersome about the question regarding who’s the world’s number one ad? I have just one answer even if I’ve been asked 800 times: me.

……

Screams and applause filled the arena. ZGDX fans started to shout “Chessman”. A short moment later, YQCB fans also started to chant “Pope.” Fluorescence cheering boards were lifted high up in the air…… The lively atmosphere seemed to have driven away the torridness of the summer night!

Little Fatty: “The above are remarks from a gay couple.”

Tong Yao was confused: “Isn’t my idol Gao Xuecheng the world's number one ad?”

Lu Sicheng pursed his lips and cast a sidelong glance at her. Under the cold stare, she kept her mouth shut.

[Ap mids]

Ai Jia: Ah, what should I say? That woman’s too cocky, I’ll show her my true colors. Have to let her understand the esports world is still a man’s world.

(cutaway)

Smiling (laughing happily): He said that? Hahahahaha, I can’t wait to see his true colors. Ai Jia is indeed a very good player at being “underdeveloped and waiting to be hit.” I hope he won’t be hiding under the turret, come out and face me.

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 1 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Hello all,

We've deciding on translating a story called 你是迟来的欢喜 (Ni Shi Chi Lai De Huanxi) or You're My Belated Happiness.

We hope you enjoy. And thank you to the people who gave us recommendations to translate.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 1 Part 1

Hang City’s weather in March could be cold one day and hot the next. It could even turn into a different season the very next day.

Ruan Yu picked a sunny day to go back to her family’s old house.
She had gotten news that the family’s old house was going to be demolished soon. A nostalgic person couldn’t stand to hear news like this. She decided to go have a last look at the house since she hadn’t been doing anything lately.

The Ruan family's old house was built in the fringe of Su City. All of the houses in the neighborhood were built in a similar style, with mint green colored outer walls and three stories high with a triangle garret on top.
Ruan had moved away from here after she graduated from high school and hadn’t been back in almost 8 years.

The empty house had been cleaned not too long ago, it wasn’t dusty but the air had a stale smell. After she unlocked the door, she walked up to the attic. Some of her old stuff from her days as a student were kept in the attic.

The stairs squeaked as she made her way up. After she pulled open the curtains in the attic, golden sunlight flooded into the room and she could see tiny dust particles floating in the air.

She briefly tidied up the place and moved a vintage wooden crate out. Ruan Yu sat down on the floor cross legged. As soon as she opened the crate, her cell phone rang.
She put an earbud into her ear and answered the phone while checking the stuff inside the crate.

A female voice came through from the earbud: “Miss Ruan, when you answered this call, it means that up till 1 pm, March 19th you haven’t handed over the outline of your new novel to your ex-editor. In addition, it has been a whole 11 months since you completed your last novel, to the day.”

Ruan Yu chuckled: “You’re an ex already, why are you still pushing for it so harshly like a debt collector?”
“Please, debtor, correct your attitude towards this matter.”
Ruan Yu looked up to the ceiling and sighed: “Miss Shen, Miss Ruan remembers that she told you that she would give the outline to you by the end of March.”
“Then, may I ask whether you’ve decided on the theme?”

Ruan Yu, dejected, sniffled before answering: “No.”

The lady on the other side grew irritated: “It’s been 11 months, Ruan Yu, you can give birth to a child and finish the postpartum confinement month in that time! You’re a full-time writer, do you want to become completely irrelevant?”
Ruan Yu began to flip through her diary and perfunctorily said: “When an author doesn’t have her muse, writing can be harder than giving birth to a child.”
“You shut yourself up at home everyday, who’s going to give you your muse? The thing about writing……”

As Shen Mingying rambled on, Ruan Yu stopped responding. Her eyes landed on one of the pages of her diary and her whole body froze on the spot.

The timeworn paper looked slightly yellow under the sunlight. The words written on the page: “May 11th, sunny. Today I saw Xu Huaisong three times. The first time, I was taking English test sheets to the office and saw him and some other boys from his class in time out in the hallway, being lectured. The dean was so mean……”

“The second time, I passed by the school's arts classrooms and found him squatting in the nearby bushes feeding cat food to a stray cat. So he likes cats too, so nice.”

“The third time, I went to PE and saw him running by himself around the sports field. He looks so nice without the glasses. No wonder there were girls who delivered water to him. I also bought water, but I didn’t have the courage to give it to him. If my dad knows that the person I have a crush on is a student in his class, then Xu Huaisong would be in big trouble! Oh, on the other hand, he might not want to be with me anyway……”

Ruan Yu was quiet for too long and Shen Mingying thought something might have happened to her. She asked Ruan Yu where she was.
Ruan Yu answered: “Back at our old house.” After saying so, her eyes, still fixed on that page, gradually brightened up: “Mingying, I got it.”
“Got what? You have a theme for your story?”
“Right, the setting will be at a school and the theme is a secret crush. How’s that?”

The other end of the line grew dead quiet, then very suddenly she said: “Wake up! Those whining and groaning stories about lost loves in their teenage years have long gone out of fashion. There’s no money to make at all!”

Ruan Yu took a look at the diary: “But…… do you still remember Xu Huaisong?”
Shen Mingying overlooked the sudden change of subject and asked: “Who’s that?”
“The one in our high school, from room 10.”
“Oh…… you mean that tall and slender guy who didn’t talk much, who you had a crush on? It can’t be that you’ve met him over in Su City?”

Xu Huaisong was indeed from Su City. His grandmother’s house was in the neighborhood. But as far as Ruan Yu knew, he had left the city even earlier than she did and no one from her high school had heard any news of him for many years.

She closed her diary and laughed: “How can that happen, you think life is like a novel?” After thinking it over, she continued: “Let’s not talk about it now. I’ll give you the outline of the story in a few days. I’ll hang up now.”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 150 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 150 Part 2

August 23rd, 2016, ZGDX was on their way to Hangzhou.

……

August 26th, 2016, Hangzhou, they were at the arena for the summer competition finals.

At dusk, the audience began to file into the arena. Over ten thousand seats were all occupied-- --In the darkness, one could only see the lights of the various fluorescent cheering boards from fans of both teams and the glowing bracelets on their wrists.

They were like a field of fireflies.

Standing afar backstage, Tong Yao couldn’t clearly make out any of the faces in the crowded audience.

Yet she could clearly see those twinkling words on the cheering boards, “Go ZGDX”, “Chessman”, “Smiling”, and even large smiling emoticons…… Right in front of her was the soundproof glass room for the final match of the summer competition. With the glass room between her and the audience, she couldn’t make out what the audience was talking about or what the commentators were saying. She could only vaguely hear shout after shout of a certain player’s id or the name of one of the teams.

It was quite an amazing feeling.

Half a year ago, she was one of the many in the audience, sitting away from the stage and looking up at the empty competition area while eagerly fixing her eyes on the backstage entrance, excitedly awaiting her favorite team and favorite player to appear there-- --

But as for now……

Tong Yao took her eyes away from the audience and turned around. There were staff members running behind her who were shouting “It’s going to begin soon, are you all ready”, “Are all the players here?”, “The substitutes have to be there too. I’ve already said it several times, why are you still asking now?”, “Has everyone got their cape yet? All the players need to wear it. The opening ceremony of the finals is about to begin.”......

In the midst of the confusion, Tong Yao keenly caught the key words “cape.” Her lips twitched a little and looked down at the black cape hanging on her arm. In her other hand, there was a face mask in the shape of a fox. The mask seemed to be quite delicately made. It was a small mask with red eye sockets with a mouth that curved upwards, there were even flower twinkles in between the eyes…… As she was looking at these two items, resisting the urge to wear them, the cape was pulled away from her arm. The tall man behind her opened the cape and draped it over her: “The backstage workers are already in such a chaotic state, can’t you just put this on yourself?”

Tong Yao looked up and saw the man behind who was tying the cape for her without any expression-- --He had the same style of cape on him and on his forehead, there was a fox mask hanging there which covered about half of his face. The mask was different from Tong Yao’s in terms of style and size.

Tong Yao: “......”

She looked down at the hands pulling on the strings of the cape: “I just don’t understand why they have to make the players go on stage at the opening ceremony looking like a Death Eater going out to slaughter a village at midnight……”

Lu Sicheng glanced up at her, looking rather powerless. Then he pulled the mask out of her hand and took a look at it before putting it on Tong Yao’s face-- --

The muffled sound of Tong Yao’s voice came from behind the mask: “It’s totally chuunibyou.”

Lu Sicheng pursed his lips: “Shut up.”

Tong Yao stood on her tippy toes and reached over to touch the mask on Lu Sicheng’s face-- --The delicate mask covered half of his face and the tip of his nose seemed to point even more sharply under the edge of the mask: “...... When you were playing professionally in Korea, you really didn’t get any cosmetic surgery? Let me pinch your nose, so pointy, tsk, tsk, I’m jealous…… Your mask is better looking than mine. Why is mine covering my whole face?”

Lu Sicheng grabbed her hand, the corner of his lips slightly curved up, and his other hand moved over to lift Tong Yao’s mask up a little. Tong Yao’s chin showed under the mask as Lu Sicheng looked down about to say something. Behind them, some staff members shouted: “Get ready! Let’s go!”

They heard an explosion in the sky right afterwards. Fireworks exploded with colorful lights, lighting up the night sky!

[Friends and fans, welcome to the 2016 League of Legends Professional League China Region Summer Competition Finals. I’m today’s commentator A! Tonight, we'll witness the finals of the summer competition and the emergence of the first team that will be representing our Region in the world tournament!]

Accompanied by the commentator’s voice, the two teams, together with substitutes, 16 players in total, walked onto the stage wearing capes and various masks. The two teams stood in a row and in the middle of the stage was the champion cup of this year’s summer competition-- --

When they passed the soundproof glass room, the cheers of the audience were suddenly in stereo, like thunder. The fans waved their glow sticks and cheering boards in their hands with expectant eyes……

[ZGDX, Pang!]

[ZGDX, Chessman!]

[ZGDX, K!]

……

Whenever the commentator called a player’s name, the player would take off their mask, walk up, and bow-- --

[ZGDX, Smiling!]

When Tong Yao’s name was called, her heart suddenly stopped beating in her chest. She lifted up her hand, slightly moist from nervousness, and shakingly pulled of the mask on her face-- --She forced herself to keep cool but couldn’t help herself from breaking into a smile on her face-- --When the heart in her chest started to pump again, with force, she pulled the mask off and walked a step forward-- --

Under the gaze of all the well wishers’ eyes, she accepted applause and well wishes.

Tong Yao’s brain went blank. She looked at the people who cheered for her, shouted loudly for her and wondered if this was going to be the most beautiful moment in her life?...... The kind of moment that she would treasure forever.

Everyone was smiling. The flashing fireworks exploding above their heads reflected on the championship cup in front of them as if painting brilliant colors to the cup-- --Amongst the din of thousands of fans cheering, there was only this cup in the players’ eyes.

This was the night for both ZGDX and YQCB.

The night of the final battle.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 150 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 150 Part 1

On August 14, 2016, B group’s semi-finals ended. YQCB defeated Red Arrow 3 : 0 and qualified for the finals of the summer season-- --In the afternoon of that day, YQCB was celebrating the win as if it was the New Year. Tong Yao was playing with her cats in the front yard when she saw the next door team’s boss standing at the gate with a stack of red envelopes in hand and giving out the envelopes to the players one by one after they came down from the bus. Each envelope was quite thick; it was so thick that Tong Yao grew very envious.

“We’ve also gone on to the finals. Why does the team next door receive red envelopes and we haven’t even had a decent meal.” Tong Yao with a cat in her arms, looked next to the window at the man who was lying on the couch playing with his cell phone.

The man lying on the couch playing with his cell phone said: “Think about which scenario is more precious, the one who had the second highest grade in the class on the mid-term and now is trying to fight for first place or the one who had the lowest grade on the mid-term, almost got demoted, and now is having the chance to get second place or even first place?”

Tong Yao checked Tieba and found that the fans were all rooting for YQCB. They had become the most popular team for now. Tong Yao was envious.

“......” She looked up and happened to see the red envelope in the hands of the captain next door. It looked like it contained at least three or four thousand RMB in it. Tong Yao said without much expression on her face: “Our boss doesn’t have any esports dreams.”

The man on the couch said: “I’m your boss.”

Tong Yao: “......”

Tong Yao dropped the fat cat on the tummy of the man on the couch. He hissed and his body jerked while arching upwards-- --Dabing stepped on his tummy, then sat down squarely on his flat belly.

……

August 15th, 2016, it was the day of the match between CK and Red Arrow to fight for third place of the season in the loser’s group. The match lasted for seven hours and every round lasted more than 50 minutes. Eventually, CK, at the last minute, amazingly turned the game around from being behind 10,000 gold and took third place of the summer season.

With this result, CK fans switched to being fans of  ZGDX. Because YQCB had a very low score in the spring season and their accumulated scores could very well be overlooked. Therefore, as long as ZGDX could get the slot to go to S6 as the champion of the summer season, then CK could get the other S6 slot by having the highest accumulated score of the year.

The night that CK won third place, many CK fans swarmed onto ZGDX’s Weibo official site and left messages rooting for ZGDX. It was quite a chaotic scene……

A fan jokingly said: [It used to be that a castle can only have one king; fans of CK and ZGDX have never coexisted with such harmony. This grand occasion of “we’re close as one family; we just want the ticket to S6 even if we have to be shameless” is truly spectacular.]

…...The finals of the summer competition had been set for August 26th, at an arena in Hangzhou.

During the eleven day break, both teams began closed door training with only a fence between them-- --Each team was on guard against the other team. The bosses of the two clubs, who were on very good terms, hadn't spent time together drinking for quite a few days. Even Dabing was forbidden to interact with the cat next door, Ah Mao, raised by Ai Jia.

“Why? Because someone could draw a map of Summoner’s Rift on the back of a cat?” Tong Yao was speechless. “You might as well build a concrete wall between the two houses. It has to be thick enough so they can’t wiretap us.”

Xiao Rui: “If it’s three months instead of 11 days from now to the finals, you’ll see that wall being built.”

Tong Yao: “We’ve been neighbors for so long and only now you begin to realize it?”

Xiao Rui: “They were just a relegation team before. Who needs to bother with a relegation team? Now it’s different. I keep having a feeling that we’ll be facing them in the finals. And what if we’ll also face them at the S6 finals?”

Tong Yao: “Don’t be so conceited. Let’s go make a post: The manager of ZGDX says bluntly: this year’s S6 finals will be a civil war within the China region. The Korean region isn't even worth mentioning.”

Little Fatty: “Very well, come to work for the publicity department tomorrow.”

Xiao Rui: “You don’t understand. It’s a man’s sixth sense.”

Xiao Rui touched his head and was deeply convinced of his own hunch. He felt his hunch was too strong to overlook and turned around to ponder whether he should contact a mason to build the wall.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 149 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 149 Part 3

Tong Yao put her cell phone away: “..........................Be more reasonable. We’re for sure going to play the finals of the summer season and CK has at least an 80% chance to beat Red Arrow. I was simply stating the facts and expressed my sincere and well wishes out of politeness.”

Lu Sicheng stopped walking: “Sincere and well wishes?”

Tong Yao: “......Fake, fake and mundane wishes. How’s that?”

Lu Sicheng looked down to take a look at Tong Yao and didn’t say anything-- --This was the first time he had taken a look at Tong Yao since the end of the match. Tong Yao was relieved and dragged him to a corner of the parking lot. She took the backpack he was holding in his hand and dropped it on the ground. Then she grabbed his hand and took out the bandage from her pocket and began wrapping his hand.

Since Lu Sicheng had left the breakroom ahead of everyone else, even the driver hadn’t come out yet.

There was no one to open the door of the bus for them. They could only hide in the corner so as not to be seen by fans-- --Tong Yao looked down and carefully wrapped the bandage around Lu Sicheng’s wrist as if it was made of glass…… When Lu Sicheng looked down, he could see her eyelashes slightly quivering.

After thinking for a while, he dryly asked as if he wanted to make sure: “You really don’t have any thoughts about Yang god now, right?”

“My only thought is thanks that he introduced me to League of Legends.” Tong Yao answered without even looking up: “Otherwise where could I go to win over a big idol like you.”

Lu Sicheng huffed again but from the tone, he seemed to enjoy the flattery. But he was still reluctant to admit it: “Sweet talk.”

Tong Yao stopped wrapping her wrist and couldn’t help curving up her lips: “Sweet talk is it? Then do you like hearing it?”

Lu Sicheng fixed his eyes on her for a while. Then he sighed as if making a concession and lowered his head to kiss the smile on her lips: “I don’t like to hear it. Get lost.”

He let Tong Yao finish tying the bandage as he spoke before pulling Tong Yao into his arms, acting in total contrast to his own words…… The other members of their team happened to come down just then. Xiao Rui led the group at the front. He immediately saw the team’s mid and ad glued together. He rolled his eyes: “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Why do you hold her so tightly, are you afraid someone will grab her from you?”

Lu Sicheng looked up at Xiao Rui and said without any facial expression: “The junglers from half of the 12 major league teams.”

Xiao Rui was surprised: “Hum?”

“They’ll have to fight me for her.” Lu Sicheng briefly explained. He raised his chin after saying so with pride written over his face in capital letters: I’m telling the truth.

Xiao Rui looked at Lu Sicheng, then looked at the girl in his arms. If she was a little bit shorter, then others might say “are you taking your daughter to buy candy?” when she was going out with him. Xiao Rui twitched the corner of his lips: “I have to say I admire your conviction that while you’re in love, you consider each other as the best there is and force-fed yourself to believe that the whole world also thinks she’s the best. It’s intoxicating how blind you can be.”

The door to the bus opened.

Lu Sicheng held Tong Yao’s hand and headed towards the bus: “You didn’t see when she shook hands with CK’s jungler and made a deal to see him at S6, he was almost in tears and blue veins were bulging on the back of his hand.”

Xiao Rui: “Then if you care so much, go chop off his hand.”

Lu Sicheng: “I intend to do so.”

Tong Yao patted Lu Sicheng’s back and turned around to make a face at Xiao Rui.

The others also got on the bus and they went on their way back to the base.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 149 Part 2

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 149 Part 2

Tong Yao: “Players shaking hands after a game is just proper etiquette. Besides, I’m not the one who makes the rules. It’s only a hand shake; we’ve been doing it the whole season-- --Among all the major league teams, which player’s hand haven’t I touched except my own teammates? I can’t disinfect my hand right there after shaking hands, can I? You aren’t being reasonable.”

Tong Yao: “It’s just a hand shake.”

Tong Yao: “Didn’t you also shake hands with him? What are you jealous about?”

Tong Yao: “Be optimistic.”

Tong Yao: “Aiya, it’s been such a long time. Though I like to taunt Yang god, I don’t actually have any other thoughts about him-- --I’m not angry at him anymore, nor do I miss the past. I’m just having some fun with him, that’s all. The fans, even Yang god himself, knows about this bad habit of mine-- --Haven’t you heard the saying that after a break up, when you can add their deleted phone number and WeChat account back and are able to make some jokes about each other as friends then that means you’ve truly put the past behind you.”

Tong Yao: “Hasn’t everything I said make a lot of sense?”

Tong Yao: “Captain.”

Tong Yao: “Cheng Ge.”

Tong Yao: “Hubby.”

Tong Yao: “Baby.”

Tong Yao: “Lu Sicheng!”

Tong Yao: “......Damn it. You’ve even gone on a blind date before!”

Tong Yao: “There must be a lot of pretty young ladies on your WeChat Moments! You must be looking at their pictures everyday!”

Tong Yao: “Did you delete the WeChat account of that blind date of yours? Give me your phone, let me check it!”

Tong Yao followed behind Lu Sicheng hopping and skipping as she spoke. When she was ready to grab his cell phone-- --She bent forward and her hand was about to reach into his pants pocket. Tong Yao heard Lu Sicheng hiss and frown as he tried to avoid her hand……

Then he thought about it and felt that there didn’t seem to be anything to hide. He let Tong Yao reach into the pocket to fetch his cell phone out-- --The pocket of the team uniform was quite deep. Tong Yao searched around for the phone and heard the man say above her head with a cold voice: “Just get the phone. What are you touching around for?”

Tong Yao: “......”

Tong Yao used her two fingers to fetch out his cell phone and unlocked the phone with her own fingerprints. She checked his WeChat record right in front of him. The most suggestive chat she could find was someone asking Lu Sicheng last night: “Your majesty, are you sleeping at the queen’s place or mine?” The person who sent the message was Little Fatty.

Tong Yao also went through Lu Sicheng’s WeChat contacts. She was hoping to find a picture of a pretty young lady there then she could say “see, you’re looking at her everyday”...... Though it wouldn’t be a nice thing to do, it could nonetheless solve her immediate problem-- --She flipped through the contacts and finally found a nice looking young lady in it who seemed to be a hostess on a certain game platform. Tong Yao clicked on the profile to see her Moments. This young lady posted selfies almost everyday, but her Moments had been set to “blocked.”

Tong Yao: “..............”

Lu Sicheng sneered to show his contempt.

Lu Sicheng had a clean record.

It was so clean that Tong Yao totally couldn’t counter attack.

“Seen enough?” Lu Sicheng grabbed the phone back: “Before I met you, I was the esports Fahai[1], alright? Also I’ve never made a deal to meet my blind date two months later at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium either with a ‘see you there’ and ‘it's a deal’.”

“What are you talking about?”

Lu Sicheng lightly grunted with disdain written over his face.

Tong Yao decided not to bother with him referring to himself as the “esports Fahai” for now but to pull out her own cell phone to search for the place Lu Sicheng had mentioned. It turned out to be the location for this years’ S6 world tournament finals. It was in San Francisco.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 149 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 149 Part 1

After ZGDX players bowed to the audience on stage, Old Cat went to do the MVP interview. Old Cat’s last brilliant play, when Gnar was trapped under the turret and transformed into Mega Gnar, killing CK’s ad, reminded everyone of the spirit of the first top player of the world, Marin. When he was still in the major league, he would rather die than give up even if the enemy was specifically targeting him.

It was probably because both of ZGDX’s carries were always quite dazzling, Old Cat as the top was usually overlooked. In most circumstances, Old Cat would cautiously develop his champion and maintain the team’s early game momentum, waiting for when both their mid and ad developed to the point where the two of them can take over the game-- --So when the game was going smoothly, Old Cat didn’t seem that important. Sometimes, when he made mistakes and couldn’t hold the early game, people would even say he was ZGDX’s weak link.

-- --But in reality, it was rare to find a top player in the whole major league who could steady the game, could carry the game when necessary, and also had a deep champion pool.

“This seems to be the first MVP interview Old Cat has done this season?” Tong Yao asked.

“Not playing well. Who could he blame for not getting MVP?” Old K rolled his eyes.

Tong Yao chuckled and shook her head: “Are you looking for a fight with him again?”

Little Fatty: “What Old K means with that tone is something like: My son hasn’t done well in this year’s college entrance exam. He missed Tsinghua University just by a bit and had to go to Peking University instead. I’ll teach him a lesson after he comes home for not studying hard enough.”

Tong Yao: “......”

Tong Yao looked over at the interview area as she was packing up her equipment. The host happened to ask Old Cat why they had all gotten slapped by Ming god during the ban & pick phase of the last round of the match. Old Cat thought about it and said: “It’s because during the ban & pick all the other teammates were talking nonsense and only Ming god was seriously thinking about it. No one was paying attention to him and he got angry, then we all got slapped…… Actually I was the only one who hadn’t joined in their nonsense, but I got hit anyway, so unfair.”

Tong Yao: “......”

The audience and the host all laughed hearing Old Cat’s answer. The interview went along nicely.

Tong Yao looked back and was about to say something-- --Then she sensed that something didn’t seem right. Her captain seemed rather quiet all this time.

While all the other teammates were making fun of Old K’s first MVP interview of the season, Lu Sicheng kept his quiet and threw his backpack onto his shoulder after packing his stuff. Then he started to walk out, only to stop after a few steps. He turned back and bent over to pick up Tong Yao’s backpack, then he strode off the competition stage ignoring Tong Yao’s existence.

Tong Yao followed with quick steps and reached over to pull on the strap of Lu Sicheng’s backpack: “Slow down.”

Lu Sicheng paused, turned to take a look at her, then coldly turned his face away without saying anything. But now each of his steps were a little shorter than before. He walked back to the breakroom, drank some water, and still kept quiet with a poker face. He continued to be silent and left the breakroom to go to the parking lot-- --

He seemed to be in a mood totally opposite to the happy mood in the breakroom.

Xiao Rui watched his back as he disappeared out of the door and asked with confusion: “What’s going on with him?”

Didn’t they just win the match? And won it quite brilliantly

Why that face?

Tong Yao was asking the staff where they had put the bandages at the time. After a staff member pointed out the location, she found the bandage under a pile of papers and stuffed it into her pocket. She was about to go after Lu Sicheng but paused after hearing Xiao Rui’s question. She explained nicely: “He’s jealous.”

Then she also disappeared out of the door rather urgently.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 148 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 148 Part 3

The audience was loudly cheering for ZGDX! On the stream, a bunch of “gg” showed up on the bullet comments. On Tieba there was a sudden burst of posts like-- --

[CK played quite well, but ZGDX still outplayed them.]

[ZGDX’s still stronger, look at how they work together.]

[Look at today’s CK and ZGDX, plus YQCB badly beat Red Arrow. Suddenly it feels like we can challenge the Koreans this year at S6.]

[ZGDX is invincible.]

[That teamwork, I’m stunned.]

Inside the arena, Commentator A’s excited voice overpowered the audience: [The teamwork of two first rate teams! Whether it’s CK switching from mid to fight for Baron or ZGDX’s diversion to steal resources! Brilliant! Truly brilliant! Who said this year’s major league teams aren’t good, I think they’re just fine! ! ! ! ]

For the remainder of the game, CK tried very hard to fight back. At around the 40th minute, Yang god took down Baron, making up for the one he had lost to Old K earlier and destroyed all three of ZGDX’s outer turrets, earning back 4500 gold and helping his team to survive.

At the 45th minute 30th second, in a fight for the Elder Dragon, the difference between the teams shortened. ZGDX lost two players in exchange for three of CK’s. ZGDX lost their mid and support while killing CK’s top, mid, and support. It was Old K against Yang god again. This time though Old K used Smite to take down the Elder Dragon!

At the 50th minute 11th second, ZGDX finally was able to push into CK’s base at mid.

At 52nd minute 18th second, CK’s Maokai teleported into mid lane to distract the enemy minions. His teammates took the opportunity to come out of the spring and killed ZGDX’s weakened mid, bot, and support Thresh, only their top, Gnar, and jungler, Hecarim, were able to get away. CK then counter pushed ZGDX’s base from mid.

At 55th minute 30th second, CK made a mistake, failing to retreat early enough, and ZGDX didn’t give them another chance to come back again-- --At the moment, Gnar was a little bit short of becoming Mega Gnar and CK was thinking of retreating before it happened!

ZGDX wouldn’t let them get away!

To everyone’s amazement, Tong Yao’s mid Lissandra was the first one to use flash followed by her e ability to initiate a team fight. Then she began to flank CK’s ad, Butterfly’s Sivir. At that instant, Gnar had finally turned into Mega Gnar and killed all 5 players of CK!

GG!

ZGDX moved in to destroy CK’s base and destroyed their nexus. ZGDX, as everyone had expected, moved up to the finals of the summer competition!

They had already gotten one foot into the S6 world tournament!

The moment Tong Yao pulled off her headphones, she could hear the crowd chant “Go, go, ZGDX” in her ears. Tong Yao was filled with emotion. She put down her headphones and looked around. She saw her captain whose lips were beginning to curve upwards and he had picked up his water cup to pretend to drink in order to cover up his smile-- --

Tong Yao’s brain short circuited for a moment. Before she realized what she had done, she had already grabbed the water cup from her captain, cupped her captain’s handsome but somewhat shocked face, and given him a kiss on his face!

…...The computers in front of them had blocked the view for most of the audience. Even the fans who were sitting in the front rows didn’t have a clear view of what Tong Yao had done. They only saw her suddenly bend over towards Lu Sicheng. Only a fangirl who was standing at the side of the stage taking photos saw it clearly. She screeched and her expensive single-lens reflex camera almost fell out of her shaking hands onto the ground!

Lu Sicheng lifted his hand up to wipe his face. His eyes met Tong Yao’s smiling eyes which were even brighter than the laser lights on stage. He became even more delighted than earlier and raised his hand to pat Tong Yao’s head: “That last flash to initiate the team fight, good play.”

Tong Yao’s eyes turned into crescents as she smiled.

When both teams shook hands, CK’s players looked rather sullen. Only their support Old Wang was a happy-go-lucky kind of person; he grabbed the hand of ZGDX’s equally happy-go-lucky Little Fatty and said: “You guys go for it. Get the championship, alright? You go on S6 with the championship and we’ll get to go to S6 by getting third place. It’s perfect.”

Little Fatty laughed happily.

Lu Sicheng was walking ahead of Tong Yao. After he shook hands with Jian Yang, he turned slightly sideways to see Tong Yao who was behind him-- --Then he saw that Tong Yao didn’t even bother to give him a look but reached over to shake hands with her ex-boyfriend.

Lu Sicheng raised his eyebrows.

At the same time he heard Tong Yao say to Jian Yang with a smile: “I said we would shake hands again, see, it’s come true…… Go for the third-place match. We’ll see you at S6.”

Her tone of voice was unperturbed, a total contrast to the way she spoke to him when they shook hands during the opening match of the summer competition. The way she rooted for him seemed to be a sincere wish.

Jian Yang was a little taken aback. He looked up and saw sparkles in her eyes.

He realised that Tong Yao had really put the past behind her, what happened between them in the past wouldn’t bother her anymore…… He should have felt relieved, yet somehow he suddenly felt a little sad.

Nevertheless he smiled also, nodded, and lightly said in a hoarse voice: “Alright, see you at S6. It’s a deal.”
