You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 163 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 163 Part 2

[It's my own design, it’s my own remorse, Help me to decide…….]

The image of the deity gradually blurred away. The four giant screens appeared to be splashed with cinnabar colored ink. The red coloring began to smudge and spread out, the deity with the golden wings was consumed by the red ink. An oriental dragon leapt out from the sea of red ink, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws-- --

[Nothing ever lasts forever]

At another corner in front of the S6 trophy, another group of 15 players, wearing uniforms in red with bright yellow dragons embroidered on them, rose slowly on the elevator platform-- --When the huge dragon roared as it broke loose from its bondage of thistles and thorns which symbolized the downturn of the region, its gigantic claws fiercely smashed the ground. Inside the arena, some of the audience who had just sat down suddenly stood up again. They used Chinese to shout at the top of their lungs “Go LPL”.[1] The cheering was so loud it felt like it would tear off the roof of the arena!

The familiar voices of Chinese commentators could be heard on the four screens. Scenes from the past matches of the three teams were shown, killing their enemies, turning the games around in team fights, or sneak attacking the enemy’s base-- --

[They’re backdooring the enemy base! Xiao Hua! Xiao Hua! Red Arrow never expected that the tug of war for Elder Dragon was just a charade; CK’s Xiao Hua teleported directly into Red Arrow’s base! There’s 100 health points left! 50! Let’s congratulate Team CK!]

[From the spring season relegation competition to the summer season competition, YQCB has fought every step of the way for the last ticket to S6. Congratulations to YQCB!]

……

[The champion of the Summer Competition! ZGDX! Audience, let’s stand and give them a nice round of applause-- --]

[The first team to represent the China region in the World Competition this year has been decided!]

[Please win back the glory that belongs to us and make up for the regrets of so many years on behalf of all 12 teams in the China region! The China region will no longer bow to the world!]

Amidst the elated shouting, the moment the five ZGDX players were shown lifting the trophy on the main screen. The tall and handsome man picked up the slender girl. With happy tears in her eyes and a beaming smile, she cupped the face of the man and bent over to kiss him……

There were cheers, whistles, and laughter in the audience.

The girl on the screen was now standing at one of the corners of the triangle formed by the three Chinese teams. She waved her hand with a wide smile at the audience as a greeting!

[rule the world.]

The oriental dragon disappeared from the screens-- --

Then, on the screens, a blue berserker warrior appeared which represented the North America region. It symbolized their resilient and fearless fighting spirit.

Next was the green python representing the China Taiwan region. The python was the incarnation of the oriental dragon. It had fangs and a pair of eyes that could see everything in the darkness. With just one strike, it could unexpectedly kill the enemy…… It symbolized that during S2, the Taiwan region had unexpectedly fought all the way to the top and won the championship of that year.

A hawk came next, which represented the European region. It symbolized how the region had always soared in the sky as a predator and was trying to break through the stormy clouds to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the deity and the gigantic dragon.

The last was the archer which represented the wild card teams. As the most ordinary people in the universe, the wild card teams always lingered outside the five major regions. Yet they fearlessly challenge powerful forces in the nature and bravely drew their bow to aim at the heavily clouded sky-- --

The five regions plus the wild card teams, altogether 16 teams, stood in the center of the stage surrounding the S6 trophy in the shape of a six-pointed star-- --

On the big screen, the archer’s arrow shot through the sky.

Cracks appeared in the dark sky.

[So glad we’ve almost made it]

[So sad they had to fade it]

……

[rule the world.]
The background music ended and the arena filled with light. The host of the ceremony, tall and in a suit, walked up onto the stage from the side. He was in high spirit and announced in a loud voice-- --

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the opening ceremony of the 2016 League of Legends Professional Leagues World Competition. Now, let me announce that this grand event has officially begun! Let’s cheer! Let’s shout! Call out the names of the teams you love. Let them know that you’re here, you’re their strongest pillar of support!”

Fireworks exploded in the night sky outside the arena.

All sorts of different languages were spoken at the same time, then all the sounds unexpectedly mixed into a harmonic prelude to a wild show.

The grand event, the last battle, officially kicked off!

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 163 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 163 Part 1

Soon it was September 30, the day before the long weekend of the Chinese National Day holiday and the opening day for the 2016 League of Legends Professional Leagues World Tournament.

All the Chinese people who followed the professional league turned into various streams at 7 o’clock in the morning waiting to watch the opening ceremony of S6. These people were either taking a break from work, or skipping classes, or had simply stayed up all night at home so they wouldn’t miss the start of the stream…… Many of the streams had already started since 6 am before the opening ceremony officially started. Viewers were able to watch the lucky fans who were able to go to the arena arrive with various cheering banners or boards. They also could see the staff running around getting ready for the opening ceremony. The bullet comments were also bustling-- --

[Why hasn’t it started yet?]

[The last time I was this nervous was for the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony…… Will the China region be able to prove its worth this year?]

[I wish I could be there!]

[The Sona cosplayer has nice boobs 66666]

[I see someone cos Yasuo. Big brother, let me tell you, if you cosplay as this champion in this country, you’ll get beaten up.]

[China region! China region! China region!]

[I feel sorry for all of the Bronze and Silver out there, why bother watching all the noobs from the China region picking on each other. It’s better to watch the godly fights among the Korean teams.]

……

The chaotic scene lasted till 6:59:50 am. The pitch black stage suddenly lit up! The number “10” appeared at the same time on the four large screens around the stage-- --The audience in the arena grew excited. They waved the cheering sticks in their hands and started to count down in unison!

Ten.

Nine.

Eight.

……

Four.

Three.

Two-- --

Accompanied with a loud bang, white fog flowed out from the stage and there was a woman’s voice singing [Welcome to your life]. Her voice was deep and husky, penetrating into everyone’s eardrums-- --An elevator platform in the center of the stage slowly rose up. A shining, exquisite S6 championship trophy appeared in front of everyone’s eyes……

The audience went crazy. They stood up, shouting and cheering the names of the teams they supported and loved-- --

Amidst the cheering, the light in the center of the stage gradually grew brighter. The background music <Everybody Wants to Rule the World> began to play. When the woman’s voice sang the words [rule the world], golden rays of light suddenly appeared on the four big screens!

The pictures on the screen became clearer. The golden rays of light were peaking through the mass of cream colored mist. Gradually people could see an ancient deity with a golden crown on its head and golden wings walk out of the mist. The deity’s eyes were closed, it was difficult to make out their facial features, but it looked haughty and indifferent-- --The crown symbolized the status of this region’s position in the past few years and the deity’s overall appearance emphasized their dominance. When the lens got closer, the beam of light suddenly shone from behind the deity, dispersing the mist as the light shone on the crown.

The deity opened its eyes.

In the middle of the stage, right in front of where the S6 championship trophy was placed, an elevator platform rose up. The three teams from Korean region, 15 regular players, stood back to back, forming a triangle gradually appeared in front of the audience-- --

In the meantime, all four giant screens were playing highlights from matches that the three teams had played in their summer competition. Accompanied by the exuberant shouting of the Korean commentators in the background, the main screen showed the last moment of the Korean region summer season: the five players of team TAT lifting up the trophy of the summer competition.

The audience started to loudly chant in unison “LCK!”[1] “LCK!” Though S6 was held in the US, the fans for the Korean teams were still much greater than those of the other regions since the Korean region was the king of this game!

[1]: LCK is short for the Korean league: League of Legends Champions Korea.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 162 Part 4

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 162 Part 4

Tong Yao: “......What’s going on?”

Xiao Rui: “It looks like before the end of the first round of the group match, CK and YQCB will have to play skirmishes with each other to the point that their players would be fed up just by seeing each other’s game ids.”

Tong Yao squashed the water cup and threw it into the trash: “Why can’t they get the other teams to play skirmishes with them?”

“It goes without saying, the China region hasn’t performed well in the last few years in the World tournaments. We used to be able to beat North America, kick the European region, and openly challenge the Korean teams…… But now, in recent international competitions, even some of the European or American teams which we labelled as noobs could occasionally return the label to us.” Xiao Rui touched his chin: “It’s normal that weaker teams can’t arrange skirmishes with other teams during international competitions. See, those wild card teams didn’t even bother to come early.”

Tong Yao: “......”

She thought it was so unfair.

Tong Yao: “I truly don’t think Korean RP is any better than YQCB. During the MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) this year, CK had won all the matches during the first round of group matches, even beating the Korean teams, not to mention teams from other regions-- --The other teams haven’t even played with CK face to face yet, what makes them……”

Xiao Rui: “Right.”

Tong Yao: “?”

“So it would probably last till the end of the first round.” Xiao Rui shook the scheduling sheet in his hand: “After the first round is over, there will be a major shuffle of the skirmish scheduling-- --
October 7! After that day, whether this sheet in my hand will be filled up like today will all depend on your performance.”

Tong Yao was still indignant about how the other Chinese teams couldn’t get other teams to play skirmishes with them-- --

She knew that the China region hadn’t performed well in recent years, but she didn’t expect it would have such direct consequences……

Even teams from the Taiwan region received better treatment than those two teams!

Looking at Tong Yao’s red face from being too angry, Xiao Rui sighed and patted her head.

“Respect doesn’t come from the favors of others, we have to earn the respect on our own-- --It all depends on us whether we can return the “noob” label.”

……

That night, the news media back in China somehow got wind of the news that CK and YQCB couldn’t get other teams to play skirmishes with them!

However, with the rules, “praise only, no trolling; rewards for reporting, reporting is everyone’s duty”, set up by the hosts of two of the most popular Tieba forums in place, there was no one around posting derogatory comments anymore. The fans were unprecedentedly united on this issue-- --

[What the heck! Who are these damn dogs looking down upon!]

[Granted that the Koreans have their noses in the air, they’re really good afterall. But who are those European and American noobs? Let’s support our teams and crush the others! Go YQCB! Go CK!]

[Aiyo, I’m pissed off, qaq. They dare look down upon my cute relegation team!]

[Even our relegation team can qualify for the world tournament, what are they picky about? My poor YQCB!]

[I support my Yang god raising pigs and Chinese sturgeons in their jungles!]

[It’s time to throw the “noob” label, which had been put on some people at S2, back to them now. Chinese teams, don’t be afraid, just do it!]

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 9 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 9 Part 1

Ruan Yu almost lost her grip on the cell phone. She hesitatingly typed: [May I ask, is it necessary to video chat about this case?]
[En.]
Her heart sank. Last night she was thinking how nice it was that they didn’t have to talk face to face, but now it turned out to just be wishful thinking.

Ruan Yu looked down to check her pajamas and quickly replied: [Sorry, it’s not that convenient for me right now.]
[How long?]

His question was concise but forceful. It was hard to discern his precise tone of voice while communicating through text. Ruan Yu even had the feeling that he seemed to have lost his patience.
She was late for the appointment by an hour and reluctant to video chat with him. She figured that she had been acting a little unreasonable and made the promise: “In ten minutes.”

There was no response from Xu Haisong. It took some time before Ruan Yu realized that perhaps he had already started counting?

Ruan Yu quickly put down her cell phone and took off the top of her pajamas. She randomly grabbed a chiffon shirt with ruffle sleeves to put on. Then she found the shirt was a little transparent. She took the shirt off and put on a camisole before dressing again.
There was no time for her to change out of her pajama pants. She thought she could ignore her bottom half since it couldn’t be seen in the video chat. She turned to rush to her dresser.
In the mirror, she looked utterly miserable from being exhausted for the past few days.

It wouldn’t do.
People always say that one should always show her best side in front of her boyfriend. “Ex-male idol” and “Ex-boyfriend” had only one character difference, so they were about the same? How could she be so sloppy?

Ruan Yu put on some toning cream on her face, dabbed some concealer under her eyes, and covered her lips with a thin layer of red lip gloss. Just as she was almost done with her face, she glanced at her bangs.
Her bangs were too oily but there was no time to wash her hair now. The mattifying powder she usually used on occasions like this had run out two months ago.

There were only two minutes left.
She rummaged through all her drawers and in the end used some loose powder on her hair.

30 seconds before the ten minutes was up, Ruan Yu ran to the living room and turned on her computer. She typed while trying to smooth out her breath: [Mr. Xu, I’m ready.]

Xu Huaisong didn’t send a video chat invitation until after 15 seconds had passed.
Ruan Yu used one hand to adjust the camera and the other to rub her face to relax her facial muscles. She tried to show a smile, then clicked the accept key.

Xu Huaisong appeared on the screen.
He was wearing a simple but decent white shirt, all buttoned up, even the buttons on the sleeves. He was looking down, flipping through a stack of documents, and had a very professional appearance.

He didn’t look at her and seemed totally immersed in his work. Ruan Yu felt relieved.
If possible, she hoped that she wouldn’t have to look at him in his eyes.

But as if Xu Huaisong knew what she was thinking, the very next second, Xu Huaisong looked up. Ruan Yu immediately sat up straighter and greeted him: “How are you, Mr. Xu.”
She sounded like she was greeting the head of a government agency.

Xu Huaisong glanced at the screen and acted like the head of state, nodding slightly as a greeting. Then he looked back down at the documents and said: “Ms. Ruan’s manuscript is a bit long.”

Ruan Yu then realized that he had printed out the documents she had sent over last night. The printouts were in two thick stacks.

Her heart skipped a beat but she kept herself calm: “It’s alright. Take your time.”
Xu Huaisong then really took his time to read through her manuscript.

In contrast to his relaxed manner, Ruan Yu, with her arms crossed in front of her, was nervous like an elementary student. She fixed her eyes on the screen and carefully watched for any changes in his facial expression.
She was afraid that he would suddenly find certain parts of the story quite familiar.

But except for flipping pages, Xu Huaisong didn’t have any other movement. It looked like he was simply reading a story of someone else.

Ruan Yu gradually relaxed.
Then she began to notice Xu Huaisong’s surroundings.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 162 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 162 Part 3

Half an hour later, Lu Sicheng dragged Tong Yao back to their training room when he couldn’t stand it anymore-- --

“I never knew your English was this good.”

“How are you, thank you, nice to meet you, me too? How hard can it be to greet others with English.”

“The only thing missing is that you didn’t take out a pen to sign autographs for them.”

“It doesn’t make sense for you to be jealous of them.”

“You were almost buried by all those men.” Lu Sicheng stretched his head over to smell Tong Yao. Then childishly said: “You have the smell of strange men.”

Tong Yao grabbed his hand and randomly wiped it on her clothes: “I’ll let you share the smell…… Everyone’s watching, be good, don’t try to mark your territory whenever you feel like it.”

Lu Sicheng pulled his hand back and arrogantly cast a sidelong glance at Tong Yao. Tong Yao ignored him and turned to play a few rank matches to get herself warmed up.

Xiao Rui came back after two or three hours. The form in his hand was filled with scheduled skirmishes he had managed to arrange. Except Lu Sicheng’s old team, TAT, rejected him with the excuse that the team had a full schedule already. The rest of the teams in the first and second seeded pools had all agreed to play with ZDGX-- --

Tong Yao teased Lu Sicheng: “Your old boss doesn’t care for you.”

Lu Sicheng: “They won’t care for Li Junhe either. Wait and see. If we can’t get them, YQCB won’t either.”

Tong Yao: “......”

Before Tong Yao could tease Lu Sicheng for always comparing to Li Junhe, what happened next proved Lu Sicheng to be right-- --

Around dinner time, about 7 o’clock, the manager of YQCB, with a frustrated face, knocked on the door of ZGDX’s training room to ask whether ZGDX still had time to arrange a skirmish with them.

Tong Yao was standing next to the drinking fountain when YQCB’s manager walked in. She glanced at the scheduling sheet in his hand. There were only the names of two or three teams on it with most of the sheet blank.

Tong Yao was surprised that YQCB couldn’t get other teams to play skirmishes with them.

Was there something wrong?

Even FZ could arrange to have at least 7 or 8 skirmishes.

Tong Yao hadn’t gotten over her shock when the CK manager came over. When he saw the YQCB manager who was standing at the doorway of ZGDX’s training room, his facial expression immediately changed as if to say “I know what’s going on here, I have the same problem.”-- --

The manager of YQCB: “I thought it’s because of our bad reputation at the Spring relegation competition that everyone thought we’re really weak so no one wants to train with us……”

The manager of CK: “At least you’ve arranged one with OP.”

The manager of YQCB said with a bitter smile: “It’s just because their bot duo is interested in playing against our bot duo so they agreed.”

In other words, OP agreed to the skirmish because of Li Junhe.

CK’s manager: “I only managed to schedule some teams from Europe and North America. I didn’t even bother to ask the teams in the Korean region. How about our own China region?”

The manager of YQCB shook his practically blank scheduling sheet, then took a look at CK’s manager: “I heard that the reason why our region didn’t do well at S5 was mainly because of our internal competition. The teams refused to play against each other so they wouldn’t give away their strategies?”

The manager of CK immediately understood him: “So, we have to pick ourselves up right from where we’ve fallen down?”

The two managers exchanged a look of determination. They turned to Xiao Rui and pushed him to arrange for a few skirmishes with both teams. Then the two men left with arms around each other’s shoulders, satisfied……

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 8 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 8 Part 2

Ruan Yu bounced up from the couch.
Had she sent out a friend request? Had she clicked on it by accident? If so, then what did she write in her friend request?
She couldn’t figure it out. She jumped off the couch, paced for a few steps, then came back to the couch again while pulling at her bangs.

On the other end, Xu Huaisong looked at that line of “.....” Ruan Yu had sent over as the greeting and curved up his mouth.
What was she doing?

It was already early morning in San Francisco. Ruan Yu didn’t know that Xu Huaisong had returned to the US and therefore, sent the message at such an hour.
Xu Huaisong lifted up the coffee mug to take a sip, waiting for her to say something more. But nothing else appeared on his cell phone.

The silence was exactly like the “standoff” which lasted through the whole three years of high school. The two of them stood on the stage they had erected themselves. With backs to each other, they acted in the same play but couldn’t see each other’s parts and thought mistakenly that all the deep feelings were just in the scripts they had written in their minds.

Yet the curtain between them had been lifted after so many years.

Xu Huaisong took a look at the screen of his cell phone, it was showing Jinjiang website which he had been on numerous times. He got up to walk over to the huge French windows which overlooked the bright lights of the city even though it was deep into the night. The golden spots of light reflected on the broad surface of the water in the distance, flickering with the wind, like little fires burning under the calm sea.

After a little while, his cell phone began to vibrate again.

Soft Jade[1]: [Mr. Xu, how are you? I’m Ruan Yu, we met yesterday.]
She sounded like she was planning to continue pretending not to know him.
Xu Huaisong lightly blinked his eyes and decided to play along. He typed: [How are you?]

[Mr. Xu, if it’s convenient to you, I would like to ask you a question.]
[En.]
[Well…… what was the friend request message I just sent you?]

Xu Huaisong started laughing at his screen. He could see her struggling and the frustration in those ellipses. Ten seconds later, he simply sent over the screenshot of what she had sent.
Soft Jade: [......]

It was quiet for two minutes before Xu Huaisong’s cell phone vibrated again.
Soft Jade: [Sorry, I accidentally clicked send…… Mr. Xu, are you in the US now?]

Xu Huaisong took a look at the screenshot, he had exposed his location himself with the name of his cell phone carrier on the screenshot. He replied: [En.]
Soft Jade: [I’m terribly sorry, I didn’t know……]

Xu Huaisong was thinking of replying that it was fine since he always slept late. But after he finished typing all those words, he felt that it didn’t sound proper and deleted it.
In those moments of silence, Ruan Yu had sent another message: [Sorry to disturb you. Let’s talk when it’s more convenient for you.]

Xu Huaisong turned to look at the empty coffee mug and pinched between his eyebrows.
He had just drank the coffee to give himself a lift and now she was saying he could go back to sleep now?

Ruan Yu didn’t send any more messages. Xu Huaisong checked the Moments on her WeChat. There was nothing there. He looked at the line “only showing the moments of the last three days” for five minutes, then turned off the phone.

He was irritated by her aloofness, pretending not to know him at all. Xu Huaisong walked to the bathroom and took off his bathrobe.
He took another shower. Once he was done, he came out of the bathroom with his hair still wet. He took a look at the cell phone on the table and in the end, picked it up to reply to her: [Let’s talk 5 pm San Francisco time.]

Ruan Yu got another key piece of information, he was in San Francisco.
For the past eight years, he was probably living in a place which was over ten thousand kilometers away from her, with the entire Pacific Ocean between them.
Of course, the situation would stay the same in the future.

Ruan Yu was suddenly glad.
It looked like they wouldn’t have to communicate face to face. With the screens between them, she felt much safer with all her secrets.

Five minutes later, Xu Huaisong sent his email address and asked her to forward all the related documents regarding the case over to him. Ruan Yu was now feeling more relaxed and decided not to fuss over the situation. She sent over the documents without hesitation.

Despite all that, Ruan Yu still didn’t sleep well that night. Five o’clock afternoon San Francisco time meant it was eight o’clock in the morning Beijing time, which meant that she had to discuss the case with Xu Huaisong once she woke up the next morning.
To begin with, her biological clock had been disturbed by the incident lately. Now with the pressure of the appointment in the morning, she suffered from insomnia for most of the night. When the alarm clock sounded at 7:30 am, she couldn’t resist the drowsiness and instantly shut the alarm off.

When she woke up again, she missed the appointment time. Her cell phone showed that it was 08:27 already. Ruan Yu was now fully awake and sat up on the bed.
She turned on WeChat and didn’t see any messages. She was relieved. She figured that as a lawyer in California, Xu Huaisong should be quite a busy person and wouldn't just sit around waiting for her.
But she still needed to apologize.

She hastily sent a message over: [Mr. Xu, I’m terribly sorry, I got up late. Do you have time now?]
There was no reply from the other side.

Ruan Yu got off the bed to wash up. The cell phone was quiet even after she had finished cooking breakfast. She took her time to eat breakfast.
When she put down the empty milk carton, her cell phone vibrated, as if he knew she had just finished eating her breakfast. She clicked open WeChat and saw Xu Huaisong had sent over one simple “en.”

Ruan Yu never had to file a lawsuit before and didn’t know what was the proper way to communicate with a lawyer. Seeing that Xu Huaisong acting so aloof and never initiating a conversation, she could only type again: [Then, shall we discuss the case?]
[Let’s talk face to face.]

Ruan Yu was stunned; wasn’t he in San Francisco?
The next second, Xu Huaisong: [Video chat. If it’s convenient.]

[1]: Ruan Yu’s WeChat id is a pun. 软玉 (ruǎn yù) literally means “soft jade” or known in English as nephrite. It is pronounced exactly like her Chinese name: 阮喻 (ruǎn yù), but is spelled with different characters.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 162 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 162 Part 2

Since the three Chinese teams had arrived at San Francisco early, they were too early to check into the hotel provided by the organizer. The bosses of the three clubs had met earlier to discuss the living arrangements for the teams before the official arranged rooms were available. They had decided to reserve a whole floor at the same hotel the organizer had designated which was close to the group match location. It was for the convenience of the players and staff so they wouldn’t need to move afterwards.

-- --The Chinese teams had learned their lesson from many years of playing in world tournaments. They were afraid that if they weren’t careful enough, there could be headlines like “The players lost sleep after switching hotels that affected their performance” “Not being acclimatized influenced the performance of the players” “Unable to adjust from their jetlag, the players’ performance suffers”......

Unlike the hotel room, the training rooms reserved for the players were open for use early on. After their arrival, Tong Yao and her teammates rested for a day. Then they went to check on the training rooms-- --When they got there, they had discovered that in addition to the China region, teams from the other regions had also arrived early. Only the wild card teams from Russia and Turkey hadn’t arrived yet……

When the teams spoke about their current living arrangements, the players from the other regions were all quite envious of the Chinese players. The captain of the team from Taiwan, FZ, was also overweight. He had gotten to know the players from ZGDX quite well since they had often played skirmishes with ZGDX…… He complained to Tong Yao and her teammates that they had arrived two days early and were currently living in a place that was one and a half hour drive from the training rooms.

“It’s so hard. We have to get up so early in the morning then ride in the car for an hour and a half doing nothing.” FZ’s top and captain, game id “Pikachu”, bitterly complained: “That’s not the worst part. The worst part is that we thought if we came here early we would have a better chance to arrange skirmishes with the stronger teams, but they’re ignoring us and only playing practice matches with teams from their own region…… We’re a team in the first seeded pool, that really hurts our feelings!”

As he was talking, his eyes were looking at the three training rooms reserved for the teams from the Korean region-- --There were other people from other regions in the hallway, talking and drinking coffee. There were others who had come out to see what the only female player in the world tournament looked like when they heard that the China region had arrived…… Overall, it was quite relaxed and friendly among all the players. Only the teams from Korean region were very quiet, all of their players were sitting in the training rooms, playing training matches with their headphones on. Their coaches pacing back and forth behind them.

Tong Yao stood up on her tippy toes to take a look at the solemnity over at the Korean area: “The Koreans won’t play skirmishes with other regions?”

Pickachu: “It’s possible that they think we aren’t qualified. You can ask Xiao Rui for a try. Maybe you’ll have a different result, you’re ZGDX after all…… Anyone who has seen you guys play knows that you’re super good!”

At the time, Tong Yao didn’t think too much about Pickachu’s words. She thought the Korean teams didn’t agree to play with FZ because they probably didn’t want to expose their strategy or something……

Pichachu told Tong Yao and her teammates that his team had tried hard for a whole day before they were able to schedule about 7 or 8 skirmishes with 6 teams. Then they pestered Xiao Rui to arrange one with ZGDX as well-- --Before the end of the first round of the group match, those were all the skirmishes Team FZ would be able to play.

Xiao Rui was quite sympathetic to them.

The two Taiwaness teams left after chatting with the ZGDX players. Tong Yao was then encircled by players from other regions-- --They came over one after another to greet her. In the end, Tong Yao had exchanged greetings with almost half of her future opponents……

[You are Smiling!]

-- --Yes, I am. How are you.

[Come see, another world class “Smiling”! It’s unbelievable, such a young girl!]

-- --Haha, I’m very happy that I can bring “Smiling” back to the world stage. I’ve come to make up for Gao Xuecheng‘s regrets from that year.

[Oh oh oh, my little sister looks exactly like you, she’s 14 this year.]

-- --I’ll be 20 this year, very shortly. Thanks.

[Smiling, are you sure you’ve reached adulthood? Really? My goodness, your captain, Chessman, he’s your boyfriend? He’s absolutely committing a crime.]

-- --I’ve reached adulthood, but nonetheless, he’s still committing a crime alright.

[Hi, Smiling, I’ve watched videos of your competitions, you’re really good. There is a powerful, tough, and mighty soul inside that slender body! Look forward to meeting you face to face in the match!]

-- --Thanks, I’m also looking forward to going up against you in the match.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 162 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 162 Part 1

Before boarding the airplane, all the players, including the substitutes and their coaches, took a picture at the gate with a national flag. Tong Yao was so short that only her head was visible behind the flag. Lu Sicheng and the others stood behind her in a row. The coaches knelt in front of the flag. At the photographer's direction, all of them, except Lu Sicheng who was with his usual stone face, broke out with bright smiles.

After the picture was taken, Xiao Rui carefully folded the flag and put it away. He mumbled: “Store it, store it. Wait till October 30 when we’re in Los Angeles to take it out again.”

Los Angeles was where the finals of the 2016 League of Legends S6 World Tournament would be held and October 30 was the date of the final matches.

Before they boarded the plane, the picture with the national flag was posted on the team’s official Weibo site. The post sparked heated discussion on various sites-- --

Under the team’s official Weibo page, someone commented: [Professional leagues matches are just matches among clubs, don’t elevate it to the national level to attract more fans. It’s quite retarded.]

To the comment, the moderator of the official site, for the first time, replied directly: [I don’t want to call people names, but I’d just like to remind you that at least during the days of S2 and S3, the team uniforms of all the major clubs in our country were embroidered with the five-star red flag.]

On Tieba, someone posted: [I despise the people who confuse professional leagues competitions with national competitions. Isn’t it stupid that ZGDX posted that picture on its official Weibo site?]

A moderator of one Tieba forum who enjoys trolling professional players all the time, nicknamed Esports Toilet, suddenly came out with an arrogant reply: [Since there’s someone here to feed the turret, then let me announce the most recent Tieba rules: For the duration of the S6 tournament, this forum forbids any topics about picking on the three teams representing our region. It was fun to diss the professional players among ourselves before, but please let’s unite against the foreign teams at this critical moment-- --If there’s anyone who doesn't believe me and go against the rules, I’ll personally cut you down and bar you from posting while the tournaments are happening.

Our goal: Let everyone enjoy this grand event in peace and cheer for all the players who represent our region at the competition!

Furthermore, my Tieba forum is ruled by only one voice, so what. If you want to troll, go somewhere else. If you’re unhappy about your user rights being restricted, bear with it!

The rule above is in effect till October 31, 2016.]

All the derogatory comments were suppressed before the issue exploded.

When Tong Yao and her teammates got off the airplane, passed customs, and climbed onto the bus, exhausted, Little Fatty turned on his cell phone to check Tieba. He called out in shock while all the others on the bus were dozing off: “Shit, was I on a plane to the US or time traveling to a parallel world? Esports Toilet has turned into Garden of Eden, what’s going on!”

Tong Yao immediately tried to lift her head up from Lu Sicheng’s arms to pull out her cell phone. Lu Sicheng pushed her head back down: “You can’t even think straight and still can’t leave gossip alone.”

Tong Yao took out her cell phone with one hand while using the other hand to push Lu Sicheng’s hand off her head: “Don’t touch me, don’t touch me. My hair is very greasy.”

Lu Sicheng: “......”

Tong Yao sat up a little to check on Tieba. The first thing she saw was the post with the picture they took with the national flag. She opened the thread and found that almost all the comments were cheering for them except for a few odd ones-- --

[Xiaohuzi: ………………..I won’t be banned if I say this? Smiling is really short!]

[Xie Xiaofang: Cheng Ge standing behind her makes him look like her dad. My eyes hurt.]

[Aihehehe: Hahahahahahaha, has Tong Yao really gone to the US? Maybe they just photoshopped her head on the picture, hahahahahaha! ! ! !]

[Ah hurts: With her height in the US, Cheng Ge better tightly hold onto her. Or they might think she’s a kid playing hooky from kindergarten and be forced to go back there.]

Tong Yao: “......”

Tong Yao angrily turned off her cell phone and stuffed it into Lu Sicheng’s pocket: “What Garden of Eden? Shit!”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 161 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 161 Part 3

…...The people at the next table were all drunk, lying on the floor or leaning against the table. Civet Cat went to pay the bill then got each of his drunk teammates to get on their feet and helped them out of the restaurant.

Xiao Rui went out to get a ride for them and helped Civet Cat get all those drunk people into the car one by one-- --Civet Cat was the only one left. He stood by the car and said to Xiao Rui with a smile with both of his hands in his pockets: “I’m local, not going back to base.”

Then he raised his hand to wave at all the teammates in the car: “Don’t fall asleep, all of you. Wash your faces after getting back before going to sleep. Bye, bye.”

The car drove away and it became quiet outside the restaurant.

A few minutes later, Xiao Rui came back to the table. He looked at his teammates around the table who obviously weren’t talking much or in high spirits anymore. Xiao Rui sighed then just uttered three words: “Farewell dinner party.”

All the people at the table became even quieter.

-- --Once a team is relegated to the minor league, it would be next to impossible for the team to fight its way back to the major league with its original players. The professional league is a very pragmatic business. Once the team is relegated, the better players of the team would immediately be bought by other major league clubs during the transfer period and turn to work for the new teams. The less desirable players of the team would go their separate ways as well. Teams that were relegated to the minor league usually ended up as an empty shell.

The fantasy of all the original five players working together to get back from the minor league to the major league was a story you wouldn’t even see in a web novel.

To the members of Qing Dynasty, the moment the team lost in the relegation competition, the team was literally disbanded at the spot. Whether they could sit together to play games or eat at the same table and chat like before all depended on fate.

Feeling sad for Qing Dynasty, ZGDX players had lost their interest in the food. In the end, they had almost forgotten that they had come here to celebrate their good luck in the S6 drawing……

When Tong Yao went to sleep and closed her eyes that night, all she could see were Civet Cat’s burning red eyes from too much alcohol and the liquor which spilled onto his hand when he raised his glass.

……

September 13, 2016, the China region held a solemn send-off ceremony for all three teams: ZGDX, CK, and YQCB.

There were flowers and applause at the ceremony. The 18 custom-made uniforms for all the players and substitutes descended from above. All the players took them down from the hangers and put the uniforms on them.

They received everyone’s blessings.

September 15, 2016, all three teams were on their way to Shanghai Pudong International Airport at the same time. They were going to take the same flight to San Francisco. All the streaming platforms and media such as Weibo gave them a bustling send-off. Fans lined the streets to cheer them on .

……

On the same day, at Qing Dynasty’s base, it was dead quiet. There were no clicking sounds on the keyboard or mouse. All the bustle had disappeared, there was no one at the base.

After a long while, Civet Cat came out with his own suitcase.

There was no one to see him off.

Civet Cat carried his suitcase past the empty training room at base by himself and came to the doorway. He opened the door and lifted the suitcase out of the door. After walking out a few steps, he pulled out his cell phone to log into Weibo. There were several private messages-- --

[We’ll go wherever you guys go. It’s not that terrible to go to the minor league. We’ll be there with you.]

[Cat god, would we be able to see you again like that year when you lifted up the spring championship cup, beaming?]

[After the disappointment, I don’t know what to do. I’ve never liked a team as much as yours. I probably won’t watch any major league games…… I feel so exhausted. Why do I want to like esports?]

[Actually I’ve always said to myself, why don’t I try to like Korea’s TAT or ZGDX? How nice would that be, they can always win matches. It should be really exhilarating to be their fans-- --I’ve said it over and over, but in the end I’ll still come watch you play. It’s depressing to see you lose, then I’ll optimistically think you’ll win the next time…… So stupid of me, but what can I do? I’m also very desperate!]

[It’s true that fans feel desperate, but I know that you players are probably even more desperate…… Watching you guys walk step by step into an abyss that you can’t break free and run away from.]

[Didn’t come when you were at your peak, won’t abandon you at the low point.]

Civet Cat smiled and closed his private messages.

[DQ, Civet Cat: Despair. It’s a slow death, as if you’ve received a death notice. How can one not feel despair? However, I can finally have a moment of peace and quiet. It’s time to rest for a while.

-- --Whether it’s for us or all of you lovely fans.

Goodbye Qing Dynasty, to all the glorious honors you once had.]

He posted the message to Weibo, then put his cell phone away.

At that moment, an airplane flew overhead in the blue sky, leaving behind a cloud trail which faded away in a flash.

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 8 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 8 Part 1

Xu Huaisong hurriedly walked out of the courthouse with his cell phone in hand and said to Liu Mao: “I’m not that proficient with Wubi now.”[1]

When he finished, a man in a suit chased after him from the tall white building behind him. The man came to thank Xu Huaisong and praised his performance at court. This man also apologized to Xu Huaisong for his misunderstanding earlier.

The man was from SG Company. When Xu Huaisong went back to China the day before without informing the company in advance, this man thought Xu Huaisong had chickened out of the case and had sounded like he was willing to go and tear down his law firm with his bare hands.
Xu Huaisong, with phone still in hand, told this man not to worry about it.
He spoke fluent American English.

There was a Lincoln sedan parked not too far away and the driver had already opened the car door for Xu Huaisong. Xu Huaisong nodded to the driver as a greeting and brought the phone closer to him after he had gotten in the back seat of the car.

Liu Mao started to talk business: “I’ve taken the case for you.”
Xu Huaisong was quite courteous this time: “Appreciated.”

In comparison, Liu Mao was more demanding: “She avoids you like the plague. You’re forcing this on her. There are so many law firms in Hang City, why did you press her to choose Zhikun?”
“Because only I know how to go about this lawsuit.”

“It’s just a civil lawsuit, any law firm can handle it. Oh, right, you have feelings for her, that’s no problem. But in this case, you're a lawyer first, you can’t do whatever a client wants to do. She has a request and you say it can be done without even blinking?”

Xu Huaisong laughed.
The driver noticed that he was in a good mood and gave him a smile from the rear view mirror.

Xu Huaisong looked back at the driver and gave a friendly nod. When he spoke again, one could hear the laughter in his voice: “I did blink. Furthermore, what feelings do I have for her? I don’t even know myself, so you know?”
Liu Mao choked. He was surprised how Xu Huaisong could miss the point.

“I’m talking about the case……”
“I said it can be realized based on my assessment as a lawyer.”
“No, the legal system here is different from the one over at your place. This case in China has to proceed from the theft of the outline.”

“It should proceed from the theft of the outline in any country.” Xu Huaisong corrected him. He switched the phone to his other ear: “But, what if the outline isn’t stolen at all?”
Liu Mao was startled: “What did you say?’

Xu Huaisong was about to explain when the phone suddenly vibrated. He moved the phone away from his ear and saw there was a new WeChat message. Instead of explaining, he said to Liu Mao: “You’ve sent my business card to her already?”
“Yeah.”
“Then let’s talk later.”

Liu Mao cried out in an attempt to stop Xu Huaisong, but Xu Huaisong ended the call.

But when Xu Huaisong opened WeChat, he instead saw a message sent by Xu Huaishi.
Shijingbing: [Ge, there’s nothing happening on Ruan Xuejie's Weibo for the past few days. The comments and private messages are still turned off. Didn’t you tell me not to bother with this matter and you’ll take care of it?]

She seemed to be questioning her brother why he hadn’t taken care of it after so many days.
Xu Huaisong kept typing: [It won’t be that fast. You just focus on your studies.]
[You really don’t need me to issue a new statement?]

Xu Huaisong sent a voice message over: “You were so bold to lie before. Now you regret it? You have to be responsible for any statement you make. Now this is such a hot topic at the moment and you want to repudiate it completely at this juncture. Have you thought about how public opinion would take a turn for the worst? Do you think anyone would believe you, believe her?”

Shijingbing: [I know I was wrong…… but shouldn’t we at least give Ruan Xuejie an explanation privately?]
Xu Huaisong: [There’s no ‘we.’ Any private explanation is between me and her. You better keep your mouth shut.]
Shijingbing: [Oh…… But, ge, I keep thinking about this. I can’t even study. I feel that I probably need a large sum of money to distract me. <cute> Well…...the tickets to Li Shican’s concert are about to put on sale soon!]

Xu Huaisong didn’t bother replying to her and just transferred the money over to her. Before he put down his cell phone, he glanced at the “contacts” at the bottom of the screen.
There were no new notifications.

*

Ruan Yu struggled for half a day until the evening before she gave in. She had opened Xu Huaison’s digital business card for the hundredth time and braced herself to click “add to contact,” but then was stuck at sending the friend request.

What should she say?
How are you, Mr. Xu, I’m Ruan Yu?
Mr. Xu, sorry to bother you. Please accept the friend request?

She shook her head and deleted what she had typed, then she fell into her couch with the cell phone still in hand.

It was just like back in her high school days.
When she first developed a crush on Xu Huaisong back then, she considered confessing to him. Since her dad was Xu Huaisong’s homeroom teacher, she had gotten his Q-Q account number behind her father’s back. But she simply couldn’t muster the courage to send out a friend request. She could only look at his never changing personal information on the account over and over.

Eventually, she wasn’t able to add his Q-Q account during those three years.

After she calmed down somewhat, her cell phone suddenly vibrated. She thought it was a new message from someone. She lifted up the phone to check, it was-- --Xu Huaisong: [I’ve accepted your friend request. Now we can start chatting.]

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 161 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 161 Part 2

Qing Dynasty had relied on Xu Tailun carrying them. The team which people said was ruled by the voice of one Korean player. Xu Tailun was recently let go because of discipline issues and the team had become an all Chinese team at the later stages of the summer competition…… Tong Yao was partially the reason for the change in players. Though the team was freed from the Korean player, the team nonetheless didn’t perform well in the competition.

Tong Yao pulled on Xiao Rui and lowered her voice to ask: “It’s almost 10 o’clock now. Their club doesn’t have a curfew anymore? How can they let their coach and players come out drinking at this hour.”

Xiao Rui also lowered his head and replied in a small voice: “To the other 9 teams that don’t have to go to S6, all competitions for the year are basically done…… What the hell do they need curfew for!”

Tong Yao: “Oh.”

Lu Sicheng kicked Tong Yao and Xiao Rui and said in a low voice: “You two shut up. They’ve been relegated.”

Tong Yao was stunned.

After her team won the championship of the summer season, Tong Yao wasn’t paying much attention to the rest of the matches for the other major league teams-- --She naturally wasn’t concerned with the relegation/promotion playoff either-- --Qing Dynasty failed at the relegation game? They had been relegated? Dropped down to the minor league? So Qing Dynasty wouldn’t be among the 12 teams in the major league next season?

All sorts of questions popped into Tong Yao’s head. While Tong Yao hadn’t gotten over the shocking news, a tall and slender young man sitting at the Qing Dynasty’s table had stood up with a glass in his hand. Tong Yao knew him, his game id was “Civet Cat” and he was the support and captain of Qing Dynasty, a veteran player…… Civet Cat filled up his glass with liquor and staggered over to ZGDX’s table. He looked at Lu Sicheng and Little Fatty, steadied himself, then said with a smile: “Brothers, I saw the drawing for S6 this morning. Your team got the best one!”

Lu Sicheng and Little Fatty stood up.

Xiao Rui also stood up-- --He was once bitten twice shy. He was very sensitive to drinking especially during the post-summer competition period. He was equally sensitive to people who were drunk, worrying that an intoxicated person would stir up trouble…… But to his surprise, Civet Cat only stood there without any movement. His speech was a little slurred and eyes a little out of focus. When he raised up the glass, some of the liquor spilled over.

Civet Cat said: “This year, hic, this year, don’t get into trouble. Play good since you have the ticket. Earn some credit for the China region in front of the Koreans-- --”

Civet Cat paused for a moment, laughed as if to himself, and looked a little lonesome: “We can’t take your place like last year.”

At first, Tong Yao felt his words sounded strange. Then she thought it over and remembered the answer she couldn’t recall this morning before she fell asleep-- --It was Qing Dynasty, as the second place in the stepladder tournament, that replaced ZGDX to go to S5 last year.

That year, Qing Dynasty was quite strong and was led by some veteran players. Those veteran players were well respected in the team and the team was well disciplined. They had won last year’s spring competition. Because the team had such a glorious past, they had a lot of fans, even up to this day, sometimes it looked like they had more than CK……

Late in last year’s summer season, though they didn’t do as well as the spring due to a certain veteran player thinking about retiring, they still performed quite well…… In the end, they lost the chance to get the last ticket to go to S5, losing to CK at the last match in the stepladder tournament. Tong Yao had heard that that night Qing Dynasty’s fans wailed on Weibo. It was quite a scene.

Qing Dynasty eventually got the chance to go S5 because ZGDX backed out of the competition, making their fans’ dream come true. Yet what they didn’t expect was that this dream, in a strict sense, was actually a nightmare for the team.

Qing Dynasty was eliminated at the group match stage in S5 and returned disgraced. Their veteran top and jungler retired right afterwards. With new players joining the team, their performance in the spring season this year was disastrous at the start until the team hired the Korean player Xu Tailun. Xu Tailun helped save the team during the relegation tournament at the end of the spring season and gradually the team started to perform better……

-- --After Xu Tailun left the team, the team once again lost their competitive edge. In the latter half of the summer season, they didn’t win a single match and were relegated to the minor league, taking last place in the summer competition.

It was not hard to imagine the torment their fans suffered as they watched the team from hope to despair.

Tong Yao: “......”

Tong Yao had mixed feelings as she thought about how sad those Qing Dynasty fans felt these days and how heartbroken Civet Cat was feeling. He had led the team when they won the spring championship and was now facing the relegation of the team under his leadership. Suddenly, Tong Yao wasn’t sure whether the decision to let go of Xu Tailun was a good idea.

She put down her chopsticks. Though she was still hungry, she suddenly lost her appetite.

Civet Cat raised up his glass and touched glasses with Lu Sicheng and Little Fatty, who were drinking tea instead, in a toast. He laughed and unlike earlier, slowly spoke in a much more sober tone of voice: “I really like to play professionally and the feeling of playing with teammates as a team. Though there are still many regrets, perhaps I have reached the end on my path. Yet there are always others who will continue to move on and move on further than I…… I hope you’re that group of lucky people.”

Civet Cat raised his head and drank all the liquor in his glass. Then he put down the glass.

“Best wishes to you all.”

After finishing what he wanted to say, Civet Cat returned to his team’s table.

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 7 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 7 Part 3

Instead of answering Liu Mao’s question, Ruan Yu asked: “Mr. Liu, in your plan, how would you handle this case?”
Liu Mao was somewhat surprised and said: “The most direct way to do this is to prove that the outline has been stolen.”

Ruan Yu resigned herself to the same strategy and said: “En.”
Liu Mao keenly detected that she was low in spirits and asked: “What’s wrong? If you’ve run into any trouble, just let me know. Even if I’m not your lawyer, I can still be your friend.”

Ruan Yu hesitated: “I’m just thinking, if I want to probe into the originality of my work, would it be possible to realize it in this case?”
It was quiet on the other side of the phone for some time. Ruan Yu was quite understanding and said with a smile: “Forget about it. I know……”
“We can.” Liu Mao interrupted her.
“We can?”

Liu Mao thought about it before saying: “Right, it can be done……”
Ruan Yu sensed that the tone in his voice seemed a little awkward. She said: “If you’re just making the offer to help as a friend, you’re not obliged to do it.”
“I’m not!”

He suddenly raised his voice and Ruan Yu could hear an echo on his side. She asked: “Mr. Liu, do you have your speaker on?”
“Right, sorry, please wait a moment. I have some papers here that need my signature.”
“Go ahead.”

Ruan Yu didn’t hang up but there was no sound on the other end. She started to browse the newspapers in the see-through kiosks.

In one of the evening newspapers, there was news about an executive from SG Company in the US being prosecuted for quitting his job to go working for the company’s competitor.
It looked like even a well known computer software company couldn’t avoid getting into this kind of legal dispute.

Ruan Yu glanced at the report and saw several phrases like :”San Francisco” “in court tomorrow” and “Chinese lawyer”. As she was about to read it more closely, Liu Mao started to speak on the other end of the call. He told her that he had finished his work and asked whether she was still there.
She looked up: “Go ahead.”

Liu Mao spoke much more smoothly than before: “Though the probe you’ve mentioned isn’t the necessary evidence in this case and would rather serve as supplemental evidence, it can have a positive impact on the result of the lawsuit. As such, we’ll be able to realize your request.”
Ruan Yu was a little surprised: “Aren’t you worried that the result of comparing the two works won’t be as satisfactory?”

Liu Mao was silent again before saying: “I’m sorry. I have to sign some more papers.”
“......”

One minute later, Liu Mao spoke again: “Worry or not, frankly it’s about the success rate. As a lawyer, I can’t give you an answer to that. However, I think it’s worth it to try and prove it’s a real original work.”

Ruan Yu almost couldn’t breath. After being turned down so many times, his words were so comforting in the time of her distress.
Suddenly, the image of Liu Mao had grown so much taller in her mind.

Almost right at that moment she had decided that Zhikun and Liu Mao were the correct choice for her.

But right at the next second, Liu Mao hesitatingly said: “En…… I’ve learned all this from Mr. Xu.”
“......”

Ruan Yu quickly calmed down: “Mr. Liu, if I choose to file a lawsuit, you would be my lawyer, right?’
“Certainly.”
“Then, Mr. Xu?”
“He won’t be in court and only participate in the preparation for the case.”

Ruan Yu held her forehead and lied: “Well, I probably can’t afford the cost for two lawyers……”
“You don’t have to worry about it. Mr. Xu wants to participate in this case only out of his own personal need to learn and study. You don’t need to pay any extra fees for his part.”

Ruan Yu was still struggling: “Actually I have several friends in this profession who also encounter copyright issues. I can refer him to them.”
“En…… well.” Liu Mao sounded like he was caught in a difficult position: “Based on my experience for so many years, I haven’t seen a case as special as yours.”

Ruan Yu didn’t know how she managed to hang up the phone. When she came to herself, there was one more digital business card in her WeChat chat box-- --[Zhikun Liu Mao] recommends [Xu Huaisong].

The cell phone felt like it weighed a thousand pounds in her hand and Ruan Yu felt dizzy.

On the other side, Liu Mao also felt dizzy from being so nervous as he hung up the phone on his desk. He took a look at the computer screen, picked up his cell phone on the desk which had been on speaker mode for a while now and asked in annoyance: “Xu Huaisong, can’t you type any faster. When do I ever have that many papers to sign?”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 161 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 161 Part 1

After the drawing had ended, everyone at ZGDX was quite satisfied with the result and prepared to go back to their rooms to go back to sleep.

Xiao Rui was planning to have a meeting with management to decide on the date for the team to fly to San Francisco-- --The S6 tournament would begin on September 30th and it was already September 10th. With the invitations from Riot Games, the players had all gotten their visas already. In theory, Xiao Rui was hoping that the players could go to the US early enough so they could get over their jet lag and adjust to the food and climate over there……

The players had no objection to going to the US early. It would be nice to get used to the surroundings before the actual matches while playing some skirmishes with other international teams and even get some sightseeing in at the same time.

After the players expressed their willingness to go early, they were dismissed on the spot. Lu Sicheng followed Tong Yao back to her room. As Tong Yao was getting the bed ready, he stood right behind her. As Tong Yao climbed onto the bed while yawning, he also got in the bed.

Tong Yao had gotten used to it.

Since she had gotten up quite early in the morning, she had no energy to fuss over it. She rested her head on Lu Sicheng’s chest as he laid down on the bed. She moved around to find a more cozy position and yawned…… Lu Sicheng held onto her head: “Don’t move, or we won’t be able to get any sleep.”

“Didn’t you play ranked matches till 4 am this morning, you still have the energy to do anything else?”

Lu Sicheng’s fingers, which were caressing her face, paused: “I still have the energy to do it once. Do you want to try it?”

Tong Yao thought: who would want to try it in broad daylight.

She reached over to pat Lu Sicheng’s face then grabbed her cell phone to check on Tieba to see the discussion on the result of the drawing. She then changed the subject: “The result of the drawing is quite unexpected…… We manage to avoid all three Korean teams-- --Though there’s nothing wrong about meeting them in the group match so we can check them out, I still feel quite relieved that we won’t…… People on Tieba seem to all agree that we got the best result from the drawing and CK got the worst of it. Do you think this counts as being afraid of the Koreans?”

“The China region hasn’t done well in the S series finals for so many years and has been called the second region all this time, shivering under the shadow of Korean dominance…… We won the championship at the Mid-Season Invitational during S5 and everyone thought that was the most hopeful year for the China region-- --Then two of the three teams came back after the group match. The only team left got eliminated in the quarter-finals…… It’s only natural that people view us as the underdog.”

“Last year if your guys were able to go, maybe you guys could have moved past the quarter-finals.”

“We weren’t as strong last year as we are now, in terms of our ability to execute, make decisions, and champion pools. Thinking back on it now, we were indeed not as good as the Korean region then.” Lu Sicheng wasn’t too interested in analyzing the past: “Besides that's already in the past, what’s there to think about now.”

Tong Yao on the other hand couldn’t stop herself from thinking about it. Last year ZGDX had gotten a ticket to go to S5, but had to give up because of the incident that happened to Lu Yue and Ming god. Which team was the one that went to S5 instead? …… At the time, Tong Yao wasn’t paying much attention to the professional scene and couldn’t recall which team it was.

As she was thinking about it, her eyelids became heavier and heavier. After browsing on her cell phone for a little longer, she fell asleep in Lu Sicheng’s warm arms.

……

When she woke up again, it was already the afternoon.

Lu Sicheng wasn’t in the bed when she woke up. Tong Yao washed up and went downstairs to find Lu Sicheng playing duos with Old K. When he heard the footsteps, he looked up to see Tong Yao walk down the stairs: “Are you hungry?”

“No.” Tong Yao walked over to sit down next to Lu Sicheng. She watched him finish one match, then turned on her own computer. Her own id was at the Challenger tier which could only play solo. She played a few solo queue matches, when she looked up from her computer, it was already 9 o’clock at night.

She had missed lunch as well as dinner.

Now she was starving.

Tong Yao rubbed her stomach. Before she could say anything, Little Fatty announced loudly that he was hungry-- --Since the result of today’s drawing was very satisfactory to the team, everyone agreed that they should go celebrate with a hotpot feast.

Like always, Cheng Ge would buy dinner for everyone since he was the rich one.

They went to the place and sat down. Then they discovered the people sitting at the next table looked familiar. The two groups sat across on opposite ends of the walk way. Little Fatty hit his forehead and greeted the people across: “Yo, what a coincidence? !”

The people at the next table were the members of the team Qing Dynasty, the players, substitutes, and their coach, eight of them altogether. They had almost finished their dinner and had drank quite a lot of alcohol as well-- --

Learning the lesson from last year, Xiao Rui wished he could put a collar around every player’s neck. The club had ordered the players not to drink any alcohol before they finished their competition in the US. ZGDX players were all drinking watermelon juice now, a sharp contrast to the liquor bottles strewn on the next table.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 160 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 160 Part 3

Little Fatty, as the support and nanny of the team, hurriedly pushed Tong Yao back into her seat: “Sister, sit down. The captain was only making fun of you…… If you keep mumbling, the whole world will know that our mid and bot have become estranged.”

Old K nodded and turned to the camera to say: “Don’t listen to her. Our team isn’t full of ourselves at all. Our goal is only to get into the semi-finals.”

The drawing ceremony continued.

The champion of last year’s world tournament and Lu Sicheng’s previous team, the Korean team TAT, was placed in group A. Taiwan team FZ was placed in group C and North America’s team Time was placed in group D…… After the teams in the first seeded pool had finished their drawings, the other teams responded in almost unison when it came time for their own teams to draw-- --

“Not A! Not B! ! ! God! ! ! !”

“Please not the B group! We were crushed by ZGDX in the skirmish last time, ahhhhhhhh. Don’t draw our team, please, please!”

“It’s really our team’s logo. I’ve seen the edge!  The edge is green! Looks like it’s really ours!”

“It’s over, it’s over. Manager, you can go ahead and reserve the return tickets after the group matches!”

“Not A! ! ! ! God ! !  ! !”

“&#%#%%”

As all the other teams were praying to not end up in TAT’s A group or ZGDX’s B group, the last wildcard team was placed into group B. Some teams were happy while the others were sad. The drawing for the world tournament had ended.

YQCB had been unluckily placed into group A with TAT, which was Pope’s old team as well. CK had equally bad luck being grouped with team OP and Taiwan’s team FZ. On the other hand, ZGDX, blessed with the lucky hands of Tong Yao’s idol, Gao Xuecheng, had been placed in the best group out of all the teams-- --

The teams in the group B included: ZGDX from the China region, CNC from the Chinese Taiwan region, Tank from the North American region, and Bear from Russia as a wildcard team.

ZGDX had avoided all the three Korean teams in the group match. The other three teams in the group weren’t particularly strong to begin with, especially Team CNC, which ZGDX hadn’t lost a single skirmish to. The result of the drawing practically meant that ZGDX was guaranteed to go into the quarter finals this year.

After the drawing ceremony had ended, everyone at the ZGDX base was jubilant.

Tong Yao raised her arms to shout: “Long live the King!”

Lu Sicheng pulled out the chair cushion under her and pressed it into her face: “So noisy.”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 160 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 160 Part 2

That night, it didn’t go as Lu Sicheng had expected because Tong Yao’s began menstruating. Tong Yao almost cried when she saw the blood stain on her panties. Then their captain announced to the rest of the team with a black face: Vacation had ended earlier than scheduled. Everyone must begin training.

Soon, it was September 10th.

This was a special day.

After all the major regions had finished their playoffs, the teams that would represent each region at S6 had been decided. And on this day, each team would draw lots to decide which group they would be in at S6.

There were altogether 16 teams from five regions.

The three teams from the China region were: 1st seeded pool ZGDX, 2nd seeded pool CK and YQCB.

The three teams from the Korean region were: 1st seeded pool TAT, 2nd seeded pool RP and OP.

The two teams from the Chinese Taiwan region were: 1st seeded pool FZ and 2nd seeded pool CNC.

The three teams from the European region were: 2nd seeded pool G4, 2nd seeded pool Sun, and 3rd seeded pool Moon.

The three teams from the North American region were: 1st seeded pool Time, 2nd seeded pool Tank, and 3rd seeded pool BBQ.

The two teams from the International Wildcard All-Star Event were: 3rd seeded pool Bear and 3rd seeded pool Turkey.

The drawing ceremony would be live streamed all over the world. Every region would send a professional player (or a retired player) to fly over to San Francisco, US, to attend the ceremony-- --

…...This year the person representing the China region to go to the US happened to be Tong Yao’s idol, a retired player with the id “Weixiao”, Gao Xuecheng, nicknamed “the King.”

There were 16 teams participating in the S6 world finals. They were divided into 4 groups. The first four teams in the first seeded pool would draw first. They would be put into the four different groups, which meant that these four teams wouldn’t see each other in the group matches.

Then the eight teams in the second seeded pool would be placed into the four groups.

Lastly, the teams in the third seeded pool draw, then put into the four groups.

In theory, the teams from the same region wouldn’t meet each other in the group match. The group stage would consist of best of one matches. The top two teams from each group would advance to the quarter finals.

At 7 o’clock in the morning of the 10th, 8pm in the US, all the teams gathered at their respective team conference rooms at their base to watch the stream. The organizer had sent over photographers to each team to film the nerve-racking moment and share with stream’s audience-- --

As a team in the first seeded pool, the result of the first round of drawing didn’t mean much to ZGDX since it would only decide which of the four groups ZGDX would be placed in. Therefore when ZGDX drew group B, the audience could see in the window at the lower right hand corner of the screen that most of the people gathered in ZGDX’s conference room looked quite calm as there was little expression on their faces-- --

Except for their mid sitting among all ZGDX players, the only female player in all the five regions who had become famous during the summer competition-- --The moment Gao Xuecheng turned over the slip of paper in his hand, she grabbed the hand of her boyfriend and captain and screamed: “My god! The King’s fingers look so nice! Have you seen the way he pinches the paper with our team’s name on it, ahhhhhhhh. I feel like I’m that piece of paper! ! ! !”

Lu Sicheng: “......”

Lu Sicheng pulled his hand back and coldly sneered: “Now the whole world knows that you like him. Do you want to take the chance to confess to him?”

Tong Yao immediately turned around to face the camera with a bright smile and waved her hand: “The King! ! ! I like you! ! ! ! Wait till I bring that trophy back and send it to you with express delivery! ! !”

Lu Sicheng: “......”

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 7 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 7 Part 2

“Don’t be a narcissist. An elite lawyer in America won’t have the time to check your Weibo. Besides, he doesn't even remember you. Even if he read through your novel over and over, he might not find out that you’re writing about him.” Shen Mingying analyzed the situation for her: “Besides, it’s all in the past. Just treat him as a passerby. Worst comes to worst, you’ll just be a little embarrassed. Who doesn’t have some fantasies during puberty, right?”

Ruan Yu knew her words made sense, but: “It’s just whenever I think about how he’s probably going to see that “erotic dream” in the story, I just can’t get over it……”
Shen Mingying burst into laughter: “Who told you to add those extra scenes for the sake of artistic impact!” She used her elbow to nudge Ruan Yu who had already collapsed on the couch: “Seriously though, you don’t want to file the lawsuit now just because of this?”

Ruan Yu straightened up and shook her head.
It certainly wasn’t true when she said she would give up on the lawsuit, it was just that she planned to give up on filing the lawsuit with Zhikun and instead find some other lawyers.

After she confirmed through Shen Mingying that it wouldn’t cause any trouble for Shen’s friend, she contacted another law firm in Hang City the same day.
The lawyer there also invited her to come to the office to talk.

The law firm was called “Dingzheng.” The lawyer who took up her case, Mr. Fan, was quite efficient. He had worked out a plan to proceed with the case.
The next day when Ruan Yu arrived at the law firm, she was presented with a document outlining the proposed plan.

As Ruan Yu was going through the document, the middle-aged man sitting across from her said: “Miss Ruan, you’ve mentioned that your case involves copyright and defamation issues. But in reality, the case doesn’t have much to do with the latter. Whether your novel is original or not doesn’t need to be validated in the court.”

Ruan Yu was surprised: “Then how would I turn public opinion around?”
Fan Yizhong twitched the corner of his mouth: “Assuming that all the evidence online is well preserved, as long as we can prove the outline has been stolen, then the case of copyright infringement of the accused will be established.”

“In terms of the law, it probably will be. But as you can see, the other author has already come out to clarify everything but it hasn’t worked too well in terms of changing public opinion.”
“That’s because that statement doesn’t qualify as having the force of law yet as of now.”

Ruan Yu frowned: “But, if on the basis of proving that the outline has been stolen, we can also probe into the question of the originality of the novel, wouldn’t it be more persuasive?”
“After the case of theft is established, it would be meaningless to compare the two novels. Miss Ruan, you wouldn’t be looking forward to receiving a verdict saying that ‘both novels have a high degree of resemblance’?”

Ruan Yu shook her head: “The resemblance is only in appearance. If you could compare the two novels carefully, you would discover……”
“If Miss Ruan insists on that,” Fan Yizong interrupted her: “then my plan wouldn’t meet your expectation. I would suggest you to find other more qualified lawyers. But to tell the truth, I don’t think there’s any lawyer who would accept your point of view.”

Ruan Yu was quiet for a moment then nodded: “I understand. Thank you for the suggestion.”

Hang City had become quite warm lately. When Ruan Yu left Dingzheng, the sun was scorching.
She hailed a taxi under the blazing sun. She was planning to go back to her apartment but on the way, she remembered what Fan Yizhong had said in the end and wasn’t willing to give in just yet. She changed her mind and went to another law firm instead.

After visiting two law firms, she received a call from Liu Mao on the street.

Liu Mao heard the noise in the phone and said: “Ah, you’re outside? Then let’s talk when it’s more convenient for you.”
Ruan Yu said: “Wait a minute.” She turned to an unmanned newsstand on the side of the road.

On one side of the newsstand, there were a row of transparent kiosks stuffed with newspapers and magazines for people to buy. Since it was so hot outside, there was no one there buying newspapers.

Ruan Yu stood in the shade sheltered by the eaves of the stand: “We can talk now, Mr. Liu.”
Liu Mao was straightforward: “The notarization process is almost done. How have you decided?”

Ruan Yu was silent for a moment.

She certainly hadn’t given up on filing the lawsuit, though it was quite frustrating that she had been turned down by three law firms in just half a day. Ruan Yu understood that the lawyers weren’t wrong in their decisions.
If they could strike it down with one shot, why bother with other issues? Who would want to take on an arduous but fruitless task anyway?

She had been working for a few years now and understood that sometimes being adaptable was the key to surviving in this society. When she was crossing the street earlier, Ruan Yu was actually thinking that maybe she shouldn’t insist on the issue about the originality of her work.
Then Liu Mao happened to call and made Ruan Yu want to try one last time.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 160 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 160 Part 1

Tong Yao sat down on the floor right next to Lu Sicheng. The two of them huddled together right in front of Tong Yao’s bathroom door…… Lu Sicheng pulled her up so she could sit on him: “It’s cold on the floor.”

“It’s fine. I’m not going to give birth to a boy now.”

Tong Yao used both of her arms to circle around Lu Sicheng’s neck. Noticing that Lu Sicheng didn’t say anything afterwards, she slightly turned her head to look at him. Lu Sicheng cast down his eyes and seemed to have spaced out…… Tong Yao was baffled: “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Lu Sicheng looked the other way.

Tong Yao held on to his chin and turned his face back: “Obviously, there is.”

Lu Sicheng pushed her hand away and pressed Tong Yao’s head closer to him-- --Tong Yao could hear the vibration inside his chest when he spoke: “......I don’t know myself. Actually I should be relieved since you still have so many things you have to do after all. It would be really inconvenient if you got pregnant now. But when I found out you actually wasn’t, I feel somewhat disappointed about it…… On my way to the drug store, I was searching for clothes with radiation protection on Taobao. I even made a personalized training schedule for you.”

Tong Yao moved a bit in his arms and felt a little moved by his words-- --He was totally different from the men in TV dramas who panicked once they heard the female leads got pregnant and immediately decided to abort the pregnancy. This guy seemed to really want to have a kid? ….... A kid of hers and his.

Tong Yao: “So you’re disappointed now that it was one line?”

Lu Sicheng touched her ear and said: “En. You don’t know how much I want to give you the 8 carat diamond ring.”

“......” Tong Yao pricked up her ear, lifted her head up a little, and squinted her eyes slightly: “You can give one to me now.”

“No merit, no reward. Now, even buying a glass one on Taobao feels too expensive because of the cost of shipping.”

“Lu Sicheng, I’ve accompanied you to get the summer championship!”

Lu Sicheng mindlessly humphed: “That big championship cup downstairs, you can use it as a drinking cup. If anyone would stop you, just tell them your captain has approved of it.”

Tong Yao moved around in Lu Sicheng’s arms. Lu Sicheng held on to her waist. Propping himself against the wall behind him, he stood up, while still holding Tong Yao: “I suddenly remember that there’s something I can reward you.”

Tong Yao paused: “What?”

Lu Sicheng walked over to shut the room door with his foot and seriously said: “A night of romance.”

Tong Yao took a look outside the window, the sun was still bright outside. Her expression changed-- --But before she could say “never mind”, Lu Sicheng pushed her onto the bed! Lu Sicheng took off his clothes which he had just put on. Tong Yao looked at his solid chest and covered her eyes. Lu Sicheng held her hands and said: “It’s not like you haven’t seen it before, come touch it……”

Before Tong Yao said anything, someone knocked on the door. It was Little Fatty outside: “What are you doing? Indulging in indecent acts in broad daylight?”

“We’re on vacation. If I’m not going to indulge myself, then what else do I do? Go back to playing games?” Lu Sicheng straightened up and yelled at the door, annoyed: “Don’t bother me!”

Little Fatty was probably shocked by Lu Sicheng’s straightforwardness, he was quiet for a moment before responding with an “oh.” Then there was the sound of his footsteps moving away from the door-- --Lu Sicheng looked back at Tong Yao. He found her blushing face particularly cute…… Lu Sicheng kissed her on her forehead and tenderly said: “If we were to have a kid, the kid must be cute and pretty.”

Tong Yao looked up at him: “Don’t say things like that while looking at my breasts. It feels weird.”

Lu Sicheng started laughing and pulled the blanket over to cover the two of them-- --

Tong Yao had concluded afterwards that the moving disappointment Lu Sicheng had displayed earlier was only a trick to get her in bed with him. Otherwise, she probably would have already kicked him off the bed……

The next morning, Tong Yao said to Lu Sicheng: “You know overindulgence may result in ED in middle age.”

“I’m waiting to invite you to witness the miracle after 20 years.” Lu Sicheng reached over to pat her head. “Go sleep, I’ll be back in the afternoon.”

“....................................................” Back for what? “Get lost!”

You're My Belated Happiness - Chapter 7 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 7 Part 1

How to say it? Xu Huaisong truly didn’t know where to start. Finally, he spoke: “It’s a little complicated.”
“There’s a relationship in this world which is more complicated than an ex-lover?”
“Isn’t the relationship between a debtor and a creditor complicated?”

Liu Mai widened his eyes in surprise, but after giving it some thought, it did look like that kind of relationship.

As a lawyer, he had to deal with all sorts of people and had developed a keen observation ability. Based on what had happened today, he could be sure that Ruan Yu and Xu Huaisong knew each other before.
Originally, he thought the reason the two were so awkward when seeing each other again could only be the fact that the two were “exes.” But after being reminded by Xu Huaisong, he thought he might be too narrow minded.

Liu Mao suddenly understood and stammered: “She…… she owes you money?”
No wonder Ruan Yu was so nervous and pretended to not know Xu Huaisong, while Xu Huaisong had put on a poker face, which was unusual for him.

Xu Huaisong gave a hearty laugh after seeing Liu Mao had believed him: “No.”
“......” Liu Mao felt like committing a crime.
“Let’s go find a place to eat.” Xu Huaisong interrupted him seeing that he was going to ask more questions.

Liu Mao had no choice but to step on the gas pedal. As he was turning the steering wheel, he recalled what happened yesterday.

Xu Huaisong called him yesterday and asked him to use his connections to help him find a certain person’s basic personal and contact information. He asked Xu Huaisong whether it was urgent or not since he was busy preserving the online evidence for a new case which involves copyright and defamation.

Xu Huaisong said: “It’s urgent.” But he didn’t go on, then as if he had thought about something, he asked who was the client of Liu Mao’s new case.

Xu Huaisong was the partner of Zhikun Law Office and did have the right to know about the cases the law firm handles. Liu Mao told him about the case and Xu Huaisong immediately hung up the phone.
When Liu Mao heard from Xu Huaisong again, it was today at the early hour of the morning. Xu Huaisong surprised Liu Mao by telling him that he was at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

After he had connected all the dots, Liu Mao fully understood now: the person Xu Huaisong wanted to check out was Ruan Yu.
This wasn’t an unexpected reunion. Xu Huaisong had flown back just for her.
However, he had come such a long way back only to be told that she didn’t know him.

Liu Mao thought Xu Huaisong was probably too embarrassed to admit it and didn’t bother getting to the bottom of it. “What should we eat? Western food?”
“It takes too long. Just something simple, I have a plane to catch.”
“To San Francisco?” Liu Mao was shocked.
Xu Huaisong nodded.

So it was a lie also when he said he wanted to find a hotel.

“You just arrived, why do you need to go back in such a hurry?”
“It’s less than 24 hours from now to my client’s court appearance. Should I be in a hurry or not?”
Liu Mao was dumbfounded: “Are you crazy?”

He had spent a dozen or so hours flying here, briefly met her, then another dozen or so hours to fly back to defend his client?

Xu Huaisong lowered the back of his seat to lie down and exhaustedly closed his eyes: “Probably.” He sighed with a laugh: “Who wouldn’t be.”

*

Inside Shen Mingying’s apartment, Ruan Yu curled up on the couch and buried her head in the pillow: “I’m really going crazy……”
After hearing the whole story, Shen Mingying laughed so hard that tears came out: “Where’s the confident person from before that your story won’t be recognized by him?”

“How would I know that this whole thing would catch his attention?” Ruan Yu scratched her hair to sit up: “It’s too surreal, you couldn’t even find it in a novel. Am I dreaming?”
“You know, you look just like how you were at that time?”

Ruan Yu listlessly mumbled: “What time……”
“The day you turned 18 and Xu Huaisong held your hand that night.”

That night, Ruan Yu was so excited she didn’t go to sleep for the whole night. She was also asking herself over and over back then whether she was dreaming.
But instead of being excited like she was then, now she’d go ballistic instead with the same intensity.

Shen Mingying went to the kitchen to cook lunch. When she came back, she saw Ruan Yu tightly holding her cell phone with a deathly pale face: “What to do? That Weibo post which I said the story was based on my personal experience was posted together with that video which clarifies the timeline of the creation of my outlines……”

In other words, she couldn’t delete the Weibo post, nor could she edit the content of the post. Because any changes she made would be twisted by whoever was trying to attack her career.
