Ruan Yu sprang up after hearing Xu Huaisong’s last message.

Ten minutes, ten minutes again, why was it so sudden every time?

She rushed over to the closet in a flurry, repeating what she had gone through last time when she only had ten minutes to get ready to video chat with Xu Huaisong. One minute before the ten minutes was up, she ran out of the door with a stack of files in her arms, rushed into the elevator, then bent over with a hand on her knee, gasping for air.

When she walked out of the apartment building, she was about to slow down and catch her breath, but saw a Land Rover parking at the roadside some distance away and started jogging over immediately.

The big shot lawyer Xu hadn’t responded to her even with a punctuation mark for three days just because of a screw-up. Who was she to dare let him wait for her for even one more minute?

When she rushed to the side of the car, a faint flush covered her cheeks. Through the window, she found the driver was Chen Hui, the young man who received her when she visited the law office last time.

Xu Huaisong was sitting in the back seat. He rolled down the window to give her a glance.

Ruan Yu stood next to the window, leaned slightly forward, and greeted him while still gasping for air: “Mr. Xu……”

Xu Huaisong lifted his chin, gesturing for her to get in the car.

Since he was sitting in the back, Ruan Yu naturally chose to sit in the front passenger seat. This time the driver wasn’t the one who she had a blind date with, so there was no need to avoid sitting in the front.

The look in Xu Huaisong’s eyes cooled down. He lightly said: “To the law office.”

Once the car door closed, it was awkwardly quiet inside the car. Ruan Yu’s curiosity got the best of her. She couldn’t stop herself from turning her head to ask: “Mr. Xu, why did you happen to be near here?”

“Passing by here from the airport to the office.”

Ruan Yu figured that he probably didn’t plan to come here. It was because she happened to message him so he made the trip to come by.

Ruan Yu smiled: “Sorry to trouble you.”

Chen Hui was about to start the car when he got a phone call. After exchanging a few lines on the phone, his expression became grim.

He turned to say to Xu Huaisong: “Song Ge, Zhang Jie has run into some problem handling a case over at the construction site.”

Xu Huaisong was quiet for a second before nodding: “Take my luggage to the hotel after you’re done.” Then he opened the car door to get out of the car.

Ruan Yu didn’t have time to react before she saw Xu Huaisong walk over to the side of the front passenger door. He looked down at her through the half opened window: “You want to go to the construction site?” As he was talking, he pulled open the car door.

Ruan Yu then realized that Chen Hui wasn’t able to take them to the office and hurriedly got out of the car. She silently muttered why it was so difficult to communicate with Xu Huaisong.

Would he lose his tongue if he made a few more words of explanation?

The door was closed and Chen Hui quickly drove away.

It was around noon time, the sun was burning hot. Hang City was unusually hot the past couple of days. There was a large temperature difference between the  inside and outside of the car. Ruan Yu held on to her files with one hand and put the other hand on her forehead to shield herself from the sunlight. She looked up at Xu Huaisong: “Shall we call for a ride?”

Xu Huaisong probably felt that it was too hot as well and didn’t want to go through the trouble. He frowned and said: “Never mind.” Then he took a look at the apartment building behind her.

This time, Ruan Yu reacted quickly. She immediately understood him: “Go to my place to talk?”

Xu Huaisong didn’t answer the question directly but said: “If it’s not convenient, then we’ll talk next time. I’ll go back……”

“It’s convenient, convenient!” Ruan Yu immediately interrupted him.

Five minutes later, Ruan Yu, who was slowly opening the door lock, really felt like slapping herself.

Just because he got angry for a few days, now look at how much she’s trying to ingratiate herself to him? To hell with being convenient.
