Those Sweet Times
Chapter 74 Part 3

A few days later, Oblivion told Xiang Nuan and Lin Chuyan the good news-- --He had done well at training and the club had decided to officially hire him.

Xiang Nuan was very happy for him.

Oblivion wanted to invite some of the friends who had helped him to dinner. Xiang Nuan gladly accepted the invitation. She and Lin Chuyan left from their own campuses. Xiang Nuan arrived before Lin Chuyan since her campus was in a suburb

They had decided to meet at a BBQ place. Oblivion poured some tea for Xiang Nuan after she arrived.

Xiang Nuan felt there was something different about Oblivion. Is he smiling more than before? Or was his face getting lighter?

After Xiang Nuan sat down, Oblivion turned to face her with a serious look and said to her: “I want to thank you face to face.”

A warm feeling filled Xiang Nuan.

She had done a lot of things that were related to the game, but this was the only time that she had earned recognition.

She was so happy that she felt like crying.

Xiang Nuan took a sip of the tea and laughed: “It’s because you’re good.”

“It’s because I have good luck.”

Xiang Nuan thought about the manager of the team. She had worried that Oblivion would experience unfair treatment at the club and asked him about it: “If someone who wasn’t as skilled as you, but is better looking than you received better treatment than you in the team…...Would you feel that it’s unfair?”

“No.”

“Oh? You don’t really care?”

“How can everything in the world be always fair?  If I care about everything, I’d have depression long ago.”

Xiang Nuan was taken aback by his reply.

A serious unfairness in her eyes was so easily brushed aside.

He acted as if that inequality wasn’t as important as the menu on the table in front of his eyes.

Exactly how much fickleness from the world had he experienced in the past to develop such a serene attitude?

And he was only half a year older than her.

While Xiang Nuan was still lost in her thoughts, Lin Chuyan and Chen Yinghu also arrived.

Chen Yinghu didn’t want to leave after he came to Nanshan. He found a place to stay near Lin Chuyan’s campus. Since he was poor now, he couldn’t afford to live in a high end hotel anymore and was instead staying at a small hostel. The kind that had thin walls that let sound in during the night.

Sometimes the noise was so loud when he was streaming that even his viewers could hear it.

During dinner, Xiang Nuan was very quiet and quietly drank some liquor.

Lin Chuyan could sense that something was off. Shouldn’t she be happy as Oblivion was finally becoming an official player of the team?

Xiang Nuan kept drinking while listening to the other three. Sometimes she would smile, but seemed absent minded.

Lin Chuyan was worried, but didn’t know what was wrong with her.

This was the disadvantage of a long distance relationship. They couldn’t see each other everyday and thus it was impossible for him to know what happened around her all the time.

Xiang Nuan hadn’t actually gotten drunk. When he walked her back to her dorm, her steps were steady as she held his hands.

The weather was getting warmer and the night breeze had grown softer, rustling the newly sprouting branches.

They walked side by side under the street lamps, their shadows growing longer and then shrinking smaller.

“What’s on your mind tonight?” Lin Chuyan asked.

“En…...Just sometimes I feel like I’m too naive. I haven’t grown up yet.”

“When you’re thinking that way, it means that you’re starting to grow up.”

“I just feel a little bit sad.”

“It’s alright. I’m here with you.”

“You’ll always be with me?”

“I’ll always be with you.”

“Lin Chuyan.”

“En?”

“I like you too.”
