You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 10 Part 2

In fact, Ruan Yu didn’t feel that there was anything to catch up with Cen Sisi. But since Cen Sisi was so enthusiastic, Ruan Yu decided to buy her some sweets and chat.
Since they weren’t that familiar with each other, Ruan Yu was rather quiet. When Cen Sisi asked about her profession, Ruan Yu vaguely replied: “It’s sort of freelance work.”

Cen Sisi: “Whoa, are you an author?”
It wasn’t that surprising that she would make such a guess since they both were Chinese majors.

Ruan Yu said: “Not really, just an ordinary writer.” Since she didn’t want Cen Sisi to ask about her pen name. Ruan Yu asked Cen Sisi a question to change the subject: “How about you? What have you been doing after graduation?”
Cen Sisi bit on the straw and was a little embarrassed: “Me? I work for my family’s business.”

Ruan Yu was about to say that was nice, but her phone started ringing.
It was from Liu Mao.
She was afraid that it was something urgent and got up: “I’m sorry, I have to take the call.”

Cen Sisi glanced at the screen of Ruan Yu’s phone and saw the name “Lawyer Liu” on screen. She nodded: “No need to be sorry, go ahead.”

Ruan Yu went outside of the shop and picked up the call. She heard Liu Mao’s voice: “I was just informed by the courthouse. We’ve added another defendant to the case.”

Liu Mao was very efficient. He had filed the complaint to the court six days ago and applied for an investigation order to be issued. The original defendant was Weibo. Once the case was filed with the court, the court would ask Weibo to provide related information about the accuser. Weibo wouldn’t take responsibility for the accuser and would investigate accordingly.
It looked like Liu Mao now had the information about the accuser “Su Cheng.”

“The case is going quite smoothly thanks to all your efforts.” Ruan Yu said.
“You’re welcome. I’m not calling to claim the credit but to ask you about a person. I don’t know whether it’s coincidental or not, but you might know this defendant.”
Ruan Yu was taken aback: “Someone I know?”

“Right, I’ve heard from Uncle Ruan before that you graduated from Hang University, right? This defendant is from the same department as you, three years younger, called Cen Sisi. Any recollection about this person?”
Ruan Yu: “......”

Ruan Yu was caught off guard by what she had heard.

Subconsciously, she turned her head to look at the direction of the dessert shop. Through the window, she could see Cen Sisi look at her while biting her straw. Seeing that Ruan Yu was looking at her, Cen Sisi even smiled at her.
Her white teeth showed inside her red lips and her almond shaped eyes were bright as if there were water in them.

Ruan Yu smiled back at her. When Liu Mao asked her what was going on, she turned her head back and said: “......I’m having dessert with her right now.”
It was Liu Mao’s turn to be shocked.

Ruan Yu calmed down and told Liu Mao of what had happened from beginning to now. She asked: “What you mean is that it might not be a coincidence that she’s attacking me online and happened to run into me today?”
After saying so, even before Liu Mao had answered, Ruan Yu shuddered and had goosebumps all over her.

“We can’t exclude that possibility.”
“But I don't remember having any problem with her while in school……”
“Then think of it positively, this is maybe just a coincidence. But even if it’s not, don’t panic. Tell me first, does she know who you are talking to on the phone now?”

Ruan Yu thought back: “She probably saw your name on my phone which is ‘Lawyer Liu.’”
“Then go ahead and have an open and honest chat with her.”

Ruan Yu frowned. She hadn’t even fully grasped what had happened and now she had to go straight into the battle?

“If she didn’t know your pen name and since you two are from the same school, I would suggest going through private mediation. It’s better than going through the court if we can reach a settlement which is more favorable to your interests. It takes a long time to go through the legal process. Compared to other kinds of lawsuits, it’s better to resolve the case early rather than late to protect your reputation.”

“However, if she had malicious intentions from the beginning, then she probably would know what you’re up to by now when she saw ‘Lawyer Liu.’ Besides, she should have been served by the court in the last couple of days, then you two have to face each other shortly after anyway. As it is now, you wouldn’t be unnecessarily alerting her in advance of the existence of the case……”

Liu Mao gave Ruan Yu detailed instructions. After hanging up the phone, Ruan Yu had no choice but to go back to the shop and face the battlefield.
She felt that her life lately had become more and more fantastical.
