The Most Majestic You
Chapter 19 Part 1
Despite being uneasy in front of him, she tilted her head up confidently, “Why are you looking at me like that. You hugged me before…...and didn’t ask for my permission then.”
Last night was the first time she’d been carried like a princess. The memory was still vivid in her mind.
All the staff nearby took notice of their conversation.
Feeling multiple pairs of eyes on them, Xu Jimo felt it was time to stop her.
“I won’t let you down.” He put the watch on slowly. “Satisfied?”
Qianxi nodded, “You have to keep your word.”
“En.” The man in front of her remained expressionless. He bent down to check on their mouses and keyboards. She waited for him to finish checking until a member of the staff called her away.
Xu Jimo slowly raised his head to look back. There was no sign of her, but he saw a familiar face. Tundra walked towards him with a frivolous smile. “Your little girlfriend?”
Xu Jimo was silent.
“Haven’t seen you for a few years and you finally learned to bring your girlfriend to the game, eh?” Tundra had heavy eyebrows, a protruding brow ridge, and when he smiled, had the look of a delinquent. “You even accused me of misbehaving before.” He pushed Xu Jimo’s shoulder.
Tundra shoved with enough force that most people would be caught off guard and step back. Xu Jimo, however, was used to it and didn’t move an inch. “Crystal doesn’t have a match today. What are you doing here?”
“To watch the game.” Tundra sat down on a couch, spreading his legs apart. “It’s rare to see you fight all the way from the preliminaries to the wild cards. I certainly wouldn’t miss such a spectacle.”
Tundra spread out his hands. “I don’t think your team is good enough to go on. Didn’t you always want to get the TI championship? Why don’t you join Crystal? It would be much better than organizing an inferior team on you own.”
Xu Jimo’s voice was devoid of any emotion, “Are you headhunting right before the match?”
“What’s wrong, I can’t do that?” Tundra crossed his fingers and took his time sizing him up. “A professional player will peak only for a few years. Your talent shouldn’t be wasted on training the newcomers. Nowadays, the market is much different than before. A championship isn’t just about the honor, but also for the large prize money. If you come to Crystal, get a championship with me. I’ll retire afterwards and you do whatever. Isn’t that a happy ending for everyone?”
“You need to win a championship now?”
“No one pushes money away.” He replied frankly.
Xu Jimo looked down at his watch. “It’s almost time. You should get back to your seat if you’re here to watch the game.” He turned back to circle the wires around the keyboards, then led KG into the soundproof booth.
The lights on stage gradually lit up. The silhouettes inside the black soundproof booth were adjusting their equipment, talking occasionally.
Qianxi watched from under the stage. With the dim lighting, the silhouettes inside the glass soundproof booth were indistinct. She couldn’t see clearly what he was doing or the expression on his face.
Nonetheless, she could tell which one was him just from one glance.
So it was really true; when watching from under the stage, he really did glow.
When the lights finally illuminated the entire arena, players from both teams officially walked onto the stage and shook hands. A figure showed up next to her.
“Are you worrying about him?” The stranger lifted her name tag on her chest and read aloud, “Ye, Qian, Xi?”
The startled Qianxi stepped back, “You’re……”
“Shang Quan.” He raised the tip of his eyebrow with smile. “You probably have heard my other name, Tundra.”
So he was that Mr. ‘don’t talk about him’?
Qianxi sized him up from head to toe. Except looking somewhat superficial, there wasn’t anything special about him. Why did everyone at KG avoid his name like the plague?
Though she had heard about this man over and over again, in reality, he was still a stranger. She didn’t know how to properly greet this person. She stiffly said “hi,” then stuck out the tip of her tongue, “You’re name sounds like an arithmetic problem.”[1]
“......,” What kind of wiring did her brain have?
This was the type that Xu Jimo liked?
When looking from afar, she seemed very graceful. He thought she would be a mature intellectual, a perfect match with that stuffy Xu Jimo. He didn’t expect that once she opened her mouth, she was a young girl, at least seven or eight years younger than her looks.
Qinaxi was uneasy under his gaze, “Did you come to watch the game?”
“This match isn’t worth watching.” As if to show he meant what he said, Tundra didn’t turn to glance at the big screen, not even once, as he spoke. “They probably will go back and forth for a few times. But the result isn’t a surprise. If he can even lose this one, then he isn’t the Xu Jimo that I know.”
“......really?” Qianxi had no idea how to analyze the game. She had nothing more to say and turned around to watch the match.
She hoped that he was right.
The banning and pick phase had already finished. The horn for battle sounded, the sound effect echoed over the arena from the speakers on stage. She felt like her heart was vibrating with it.
So nervous. Even though she wasn’t the one who was competing, somehow she was even more nervous than those on the stage.
He had trained through the night up till 4 or 5 am with a stomach ache, watching the replay. This match should be very important to him?
It should be. His record before his retirement was so glamourous. He almost won every championship of the larger competitions. He had reigned over a generation. He definitely wouldn't want to be stopped at the door before his comeback even began.
[1]: Tundra’s real name “Shang Quan”, one meaning of “Shang” is “quotient” and a meaning of “Quan” means “weighted” as in a weighted value in mathematics.
Thanks for the translation. I like them.😙❤❤
