Tea of Summer - Chapter 8 & 9: Autumn Tale 1.2 - 1.3

Hey guys sorry for the late update (again). Another homework thing was due last night and I got an eye infection so trying to get over that.

Chapter 8

Autumn Tale 1.2

It was 4:55 when they arrived at the party as they had planned.  Basically everybody was there.  Altogether there were over ten students from the Shanghai area, both undergraduate and graduate students.

“You came so late. “ One man came to greet them after he saw them while talking to several freshmen.

“Wei shixiong[1].”  Both Xia Liang and Lin Qian greeted him.  His name was Wei Minghuei, a very talented senior student in the business school.  He was very socially active and it’s said that his family was very rich.  He was very popular among the Chinese students.

“Summer, Cici, why did you guys come so late?  Did anything happen? “  Wei Minghuei asked with concern.

Lin Qian shrugged helplessly, “You should ask her.”

Both of them looked at Xia Liang, who was looking around innocently.

Lin Qian poked her head, “Wake up.  What are you looking around for? “

Xia Liang replied subconsciously, “I am looking for cheese cake……”

Wei Minghuei: “……”

Lin Qian: “……Xia Liang you’re such a foodie!!!”

Xia Liang winked her eyes innocently, “Well, you two chat.  I will get something to eat first.”

Xia Liang turned around. It looked like Wei shixiong was chasing after Cici, so she created an opportunity for them.

After Xia Liang finally grabbed several desserts onto her plate, she then reluctantly turned around to find Lin Qian.  Along the way,  she overheard some girls from the medical school mentioned one name------“Song xuezhang[2].”

When she walked back to Lin Qian’s side, Lin Qian, a natural socializer, had already mingled with several freshman.

“Summer!” Lin Qian waved at her and mysteriously came close to her ear.  “Did you know that medical school hunk Song xuezhang is coming here too!  Isn’t it unusual?”

“Song xuezhang? Who --- ---?” Xia Liang dug up a spoonful of cheesecake.

Wei Minghuei looked at her strangely , “You don’t know --- ---”

His words were interrupted by Lin Qian half way, “Just ignore her.  She doesn’t belong to this world.  She’s a homebody, all her leisure time is spent on the virtual world.”

Xia Liang flattened her mouth innocently.

Wei Minghuei shook his head in amusement.  Then he saw someone and waved his hand toward the door, “Qiyan, here!”

Lin Qian stabbed Xia Liang’s arm.

Xia Liang managed to swallow the cheesecake in her mouth.  She was distracted.

Qiyan?

Oh, wasn’t it Song xuezhang?

Song……Qiyan?

This name seemed a bit familiar……

In the next second, Xia Liang heard a familiar voice from her back.  She choked instantly.

“Sorry, I’m late.”

Chapter 9

Autumn Tale 1.3

“You finally came.”  Wei Minghuei patted his shoulder with a wink.  “Do you know how many beauties would feel dejected if you didn’t show up tonight.”

Song Qiyan glanced at him and didn’t respond.  The coughing on the other side, however, drew their attention.

“Summer, what happened to you.  Don’t cry……”

Xia Liang coughed, from choking on the cheesecake, till tears welled up in her eyes.  She tried to identify, through her blurry eyes, the newly arrived man in front of her.

He wore a hunting cap, a casual shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of casual black pants.

This was exactly the Beiyan she would always recognize, no matter what form or shape…….

Why didn’t somebody tell her, why did she not know that Beiyan was surprisingly in the same college as her!  And even more so, they were in the same college abroad.  That was just too much a coincidence.

Lin Qian raised her hand to pat Xia Liang’s back to help her recover.  She did not notice that Song Qiyan had already raised his hand but then put in down.

It took a minute for Xia Liang to calm down and stop coughing.  Currently her only thought was --- --- I embarrassed myself, again.

Oh wow, why was she always embarrassed whenever she met Beiyan------This was not scientific TAT.[3]

One trouble after another, just one sound broke Xia Liang’s composure that she had struggled to build up.

Song Qiyan spoke indifferently. “I’ll take her to drink some water. “’ Then he turned around by himself and walked away.

Xia Liang blanked out for two seconds and finally awakened after Lin Qian pushed her.  She followed Song Qiyang closely.

Behind them, Lin Qian, Wei Minghuei, and the other freshmen looked at each other in confusion.

Wei Minghuei was shocked and scratched his hair--- ---How come he never knew that Song Qiyang was such a kind-hearted person?

[1]: 师兄, pinyin: “shi xiong,” means literally “older classman” for a older male student  (like senpai in japanese)

[2]: 学长, pinyin: “xue zhang,” also means “older classman” for male students in a higher grade, just to clarify xue zhang can be used for someone who is in your school but older/higher grade; for shi xiong it’s more general and can be used for a peer that’s older or more experienced than you (not necessarily in an educational institution).  They are somewhat synonymous in usage though.

[3]: The author wrote this emoticon in the raw.  ‘TAT’ for crying.  Never seen it myself, probably a more common Chinese emoticon.
