Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 34

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 34: That Bastard

To get a good grade on the language portion of the test is similar to building a good economy as an ADC in a game, it all depends on gradually gaining minion kills, one after another.

Yu Luocheng felt confident for the language exam and it went smoothly when he wrote the essay too.

Yu Luocheng was more interested in language. His father taught him a lot when he was in elementary and junior high. Though his schooling was interrupted for more than a year, language was always the subject he was best at.

It was hard to copy another person’s answer on a language test; most people buried their heads focusing their attention on their answer sheets. Occasionally, some raised their heads to take a look at their watches.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 33

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 33: The Proctor Will Arrive at the Examination Hall in 30 Seconds

Time flew by quickly; the college entrance exams was fast approaching!

For many students, if they could successfully conquer the entrance exam, then no matter how miserable and difficult their senior year was, it would be a perfect GG.

For the past three months, Yu Luocheng didn’t play games much. Occasionally on weekends, he would play with Yang Qianqian. Yet, those were basically easy wins for him.

Yang Qianqian probably used to be defeated by other players before, ever since she teamed up with Yu Luocheng, her confidence exploded because they hardly ever lost. Sometimes she would even ask Yu to play a couple of rounds with her during weekdays.

Yu Luocheng was puzzled. She played a lot yet she still kept her grades high. She would rank ahead of him in every monthly exam.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 32

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 32: The Inactive ID

Inside the team dormitory, members of Team Hell sat around Qinguangwang’s computer.

The video was short, yet by the end they had all been enthralled. Even Qinguangwang himself discovered some brilliant moves in Zyra’s play which he hadn’t noticed during the game.

After they watched the video attentively, observing every move of Zyra the support, they had further confirmed their speculation earlier!

“This guy plays like a professional player.” Coach Huang Kang commented.

People who played professional games could easily tell whether the opponent was a professional or not from the tiniest of moves. Coach Huang Kang was an experienced analyst, he made the comment from just the short clip he had just seen.

Professional players have very high APM.  He would automatically position himself perpendicular to an enemy’s directional abilities; each of his seemingly causal moves has a clear objective; the timing of every ability is precise…...

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 31

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 31: Leaving Without Saying Goodbye

Yu Luocheng was baffled why Yi Qin had changed into another person after the phone call.

What made her mood swing so drastically? Was it really from her ex-boyfriend?

Yu Luocheng thought back about the tone of his voice just now and realized that it really sounded like he was blaming her.

He didn’t mean to, but he had a chance to compete with professionals after playing amateurly for so long.  He did have some complaints about Yi Qin’s mindlessness…… Deep down, he was still a professional esports player who refused to be defeated after all.

Yu Luocheng carefully thought it through and decided he better apologize.

Unknowingly, he had asked Yi Qin to play like a professional in the last few rounds. Yet in reality, too much talk would only distract his teammate and make her more irritable……

“Yiyi, I’m sorry…...I was too serious about the game.” Yu Luocheng said.

“Yiyi, say something.”

Yiyi jie, I have called you jiejie already. Don’t be like this. I’m apologizing here……”

“Darn, when did she get off voice chat!”

Yu Luocheng suddenly discovered that the he was the only one in the voice chat after pleading.

“Player ‘Xue Yi Yi’ has left the game!”

A line of bright red words suddenly appeared on screen.

What was going on?

Yu Lucheng, stunned, quickly sent a QQ message to Yi Qin.

“Yiyi, what’s wrong?” Yu Luocheng hurriedly asked.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 30

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 30: Are You Blaming Me?

“You’re awesome.” Yi Qin excitedly said.

“I got the kill, so we are still at a disadvantage.” Yu Luocheng shook his head.

“It’s already good enough. You probably don’t know how high these two guys rank in LoL for our country. It’s quite rare for an amateur player to kill one of them without the help of a jungler. You’re quite good.” Yi Qin praised him.

All along, Yi Qin knew her partner was a good player; without his help, she wouldn’t have reached 2000 so easily.

Yet, Yi Qin didn’t expect that he would be so calm and outstanding when facing professional players. If not for the fact that she had known him online for some time, Yi Qin would start to question whether he was actually still a student.

“Hehe.” Yu Luocheng laughed. It felt very good to be praised by Yi Qin.

It looked like he still got it.

But come to think of it, Qinguangwang’s series of maneuvers had been rather sudden; if his reaction time was a little bit slower, then he would have died before firing any ability!

Yu Luocheng had played many rounds of League of Legends, but this was the first time he had met such a strong and determined opponent!

Qinguangwang had made good calculations. The minion line was now pushing towards Yu Luocheng, so even if he died, Caitlyn would have a hard time to pushing the minions back while he was waiting to respawn. Besides, Thresh would surely help Ezreal control the minion line so Qinguangwang wouldn’t lose too many last hits.

Yu Luocheng was the support. There wasn’t too much benefit getting a kill himself other than buying a few more pink wards to have a better view.

Yu checked the statistics for both sides. Ezreal had one kill and his cs was still higher than Yi Qin. His equipment was better than hers too.

Yu started to worry a bit; if things kept going on like this, the disparity between the two ADCs would grow wider.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 29

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 29: Maneuver, APM, Awareness Are All First-Rate!

“It’s so annoying, they put Exhaust on me! !” Yi Qin angrily said.

Qinguangwang’s Ezreal was so aggressive, he had fallen into the range of Caitlyn’s attack.

Yu Luocheng’s Grasping Roots and Stranglethorns would keep Ezreal under control for two to three seconds, there would be enough time for Caitlyn to kill the weakened Ezreal.

However, Caitlyn was weak and could only attack with minimum power. Furthermore, Thresh’s hook was on her and almost forbade Caitlyn to attack!

“He’s dead!”

The pulling time of Thresh’s hook finally ended, Yi Qin clicked the Q key and used Caitlyn’s ability “Piltover Peacemaker” right into Ezreal’s face.

Ezreal had very low health and this ability would be enough to kill him!

But right at this moment, an aqua colored Dark Passage fell on Ezreal and created a protective shield around him!

This shield increased Ezreal’s health by one extra bar!

Piltover Peacemaker washed over Ezreal and broke the shield.

Still alive?

It didn’t matter, Yi Qin would use Headshot next and kill him!

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 28

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 28: A Wild Fight

There was a difference of 15 last hits in just 8 minutes. Under normal circumstance, it should be Caitlyn who had 15 more last hits than Ezreal, yet the reality was the exact opposite……

“You’re last hitting somewhat slower today.” Yu Luocheng said to Yi Qin.

A difference of 15 last hits was almost like losing one kill. After buying equipment, it basically would be hard for Caitlyn to challenge Ezreal one on one.

When both of them were back in lane, Caitlyn had the 1550 gold B. F. Sword and Ezreal also had the 1550 gold B. F. Sword plus an extra Vampiric Scepter!

Ezreal was even more aggressive after he acquired the Vampiric Scepter!

His aggressiveness wasn’t aimed at Caitlyn however, he kept using his abilities on Yu Luocheng’s Zyra!

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 27

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 27: A Downright Expert!

……

“This guy is so annoying. I just can’t get him!” Yi Qin said somewhat unhappily.

“No hurry. Take your time. It doesn’t matter if you can’t get him.” Yu Luochang said.

Caitlyn had the advantage of having longer range than Ezreal. Under normal circumstance, Caitlyn should be able to restrain Ezreal from last hitting.

Yet, Yi Qin didn’t find much of a chance to do it. Instead, she was hit a few times by Ezreal’s Q ability “Mystic Shot,” which was hard for Yi Qin to accept!

It was Yi Qin’s habit when playing games to always return the same blow whenever she was hit by the enemy!

After she lost some health, Caitlyn moved slightly forward. Every headshot had to be a hit on the Ezreal’s face!

Yu Luocheng was quietly observing the situation. He couldn’t help but frown when he sensed Yi Qin’s little trick.

Yu Luocheng wasn’t against Yi Qin bravely harassing Ezreal; after all, Caitlyn had a range advantage over Ezreal.

Yet her intentions was too obvious. She would poke at the enemy at every seventh headshot!

If enemy Thresh was smart, he could count the timing of headshots and would have a good chance to hook Caitlyn if Caitlyn kept following her own pattern!

Surely enough, Thresh started to move! It was right at the moment when Caitlyn used headshot!

Ezreal was moving backwards; he was purposely trying to lure Caitlyn to move outside of the minion line. This was exactly what Yu Luocheng had expected! !

“This Thresh is also an expert! !” Yu Luocheng instantly concluded.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 26

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 26: Team Hell, Qinguangwang

“Ai, looks like you don’t understand the difference between a professional player and a normal player.  Nevermind, we’ll just be a punching bag for them to practice on. Hopefully we also have a big shot on our team!” Yi Qin somewhat optimistically said.

Yu Luocheng didn’t think so. Actually, it no longer mattered to him whether they won this ranked game or not. What he really cared now was winning at bot!

This round, Yi Qin played Caitlyn and Yu Luocheng chose Zyra.

Zyra as a support was popular for a while during season 2; this champion is a more well-rounded support.

Her skill had a poke ability, her seeds can be used as vision, and has a crowd control ability and ultimate at the same time.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 25

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 25: The Enkindled Fighting Spirit!

To play 2000 ranked, having jungler is a must.

Here I will explain in detail why a 2-1-2 line up isn’t reasonable and why there has to have a jungler.

We can just use top lane as example.

First it's a problem with gold.

There’s only one lane at top; no matter how hard the two players play for gold, there are only a limited amount of minions.

For those who have played LoL for some time should know that there is only one result when two players play for gold at the same time: both of them will lose economically!

Therefore, it makes more sense to have just one person getting cs, earning gold. It will guarantee that one person will earn all the gold in lane. (it’s the same at bot.)

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 24

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 24: The Information is Somewhat Overwhelming

“Can you hear me?”

A pleasant feminine voice came from the other side, gentle and warm. The voice wasn’t specially sweet but reserved and dignified.

When Yu Luocheng heard the voice, he was very excited!

It was the spring for an otaku!

Yu Luocheng didn’t expect that his longtime online friend would be a woman with such beautiful voice.

Yu Luocheng could even imagine her looks; a beauty with gold rimmed glasses, wavy hair, smart and sensible…...a charming, elegant metropolitan lady! !

Yu Lucheng had to admit that he had imagined his friend would be like this for a long time now. After hearing her voice, he felt that his imagination had come a bit closer to reality!

“Yeah, yeah, I can hear you!” Yu Luocheng hurriedly answered.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 23

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 23: Yiqin of Esports

A lot of people know about video games, a lot of people also know about esports.

But who knows how many esports clubs there are, how many professional tournaments there are, and what are the most prestigious tournaments?

Otakus are everywhere and players are numerous. Then why does everyone know about the NBA and CBA[1], but not many people know about the G League, LPL, and IMBA stand for?

Many know about Barcelona, the Lakers, and the Rockets; but how many know which esports club wins international championships at various esports competitions in popular games like DotA, LoL, Warcraft III, Starcraft, or CrazyRacing KartRider?

Few know these facts.

There are obviously numerous players, numerous game lovers, however the rise and fall of several esports clubs hasn’t received any attention at all.

The rewards are only meager money amounts for those heroes who won international honors. There’s no respect, no glory.

Yiqin, GTV event planner and game commentator, felt quite helpless with the lack of attention esports had.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 22

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 22: The Atmosphere of Esports

“Hey, what are you doing here?” After school, Wang Qin stared with unfriendly eyes at Lin Xu who was waiting in the hallway.

Lin Xu wasn’t in a good mood either. He just couldn’t figure out why his team had lost so miserably to this bunch of lousy players!

“Uhm, we won one round before and you won one round afterwards. Our two classes are even now.” Lin Xu sneered.

“You really know how to find excuses for yourself. So what are you up to now?” Wang Qin said.

“Let’s have a final round!” Lin Xu clenched his teeth and said.

The whole senior class knew about the news of room 3’s loss to room 8; all the LoL players in other classrooms were talking about it. Lin Xu, who was known as the strongest LoL player in the whole high school, felt ashamed!

“I knew it, you just can’t accept the fact.” Wang Qin coldly said and slapped hard on Yu Luocheng’s shoulder.

He meant that with Yu Luocheng on our side, you would lose no matter how many more rounds we played!

“Let’s do it again next week.  This time each side can invite an outside player. Double the bet, do you dare to do it?” Lin Xu said.

That would 2000 RMB with a double bet. This amount was a bit overboard as the bet among students.

“I’m poor, can’t afford to play this much money.” Wang Qin was keeping it cool this time.

“Then we won’t bet any money. Simply just play one more round.” Lin Xu said.

Wang Qin glanced at Yu Luocheng who was surrounded by all the LoL players of room 8. Wang Qin thought it would be better to let Yu make the decision.

“I’m not interested.” Yu Luocheng firmly refused.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 21

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 21: A Good Cabbage Shouldn’t be Destroyed by A Pig

From inside the room, the woman could hear laughter from time to time.  Sometimes, she could even hear the girl anxiously yell phrases like, “pull me, pull me, quick!”[1]

When the woman rushed into the room, she saw Yang Qian Qian was only playing an online game. She was relieved, but the voice from the other end made her suspect that there was something going on between the two young people. She further confirmed her desire to invite that boy over for dinner or something.

It was important to make sure the boy had good character. As the aunt, she had to watch out for her niece!

……

They played three rounds in the morning; winning two, losing one.

In the afternoon, Yu Luocheng was even more skilled at controlling Thresh. He worked together perfectly with Yang Qian Qian and they won every round except for one when their own internet went down.

Yang Qian Qian was having a great time playing. Yu could tell that she truly loved playing League of Legends.

It seems that there resided a little devil inside every girl, just like how every man had some aggressive nature in him.

In the middle of their games, the little devil fully manifested itself. There were several times when they destroyed their opponents bot to utter worthlessness, Yu Luocheng felt sorry for their enemy and wanted to give them a break.  However, Yang Qian Qian would always resolutely raise her gun and eliminate the enemies!

A champion worth 6300 gold was reduced to the same value as a siege minion; it was simply too inhumane!

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 20

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 20: How Could It Be

Two young men sat in a corner at a small internet cafe attentively looking at their computers.

For a lot of young people, to be able to play games at an internet cafe when they were free, drinking some coke and smoking some cigarettes, was a very enjoyable thing to do.

“Xiao Bing, look, the other side is using Thresh.  Don’t know whether he’s good or not?” The one with the darker face said.

“Good for what.  This champion only came out a few days ago.  It must be an idiot who’s trying out a new champion.  Let’s go kill him!” The one named Xiao Bing said.

“You’re right.” The darker face laughed showing his white teeth. “What kind of skill does this champion have?”

“He has a hook.”  Xiao Bing said.

“A hook? Just like the one Blitzcrank has?”

“No, different. Blitzcrank’s claw drags you directly towards it, Thresh’s hook can drag you back for quite a distance. Just don’t get hooked, this one’s is easy to avoid.”  Xiao Bing sipped some coke and said.

“Ok, ok.”  The darker face played the Frost Archer - Ashe.

For some unknown reason, though he had a darker face, he particularly liked Ashe whose skin was as white as snow!

“Hey, this guy dares to try and hook me. Fortunately, I’m super good at dodging!”

The darker face moved Ashe to the side and avoided the flying hook that went wide.

Xiao Bing noticed that Thresh was aiming randomly and couldn’t help but smile.

It was a guy who was practicing with new champion; then they would have an easy time winning.

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 19

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 19: Showstopper!

Yu Luocheng had added onto Yang Qian Qian’s QQ and game’s friend list last night.

He was still using his alternate id, at level 13, to play.

The thousand RMB they won last night, half of it was spent on their late night feast and the other half, 500RMB, was evenly split among the five teammates.

Yu Luocheng exchanged his share of 100 RMB into Q coins[1] and purchased the “The Chain Warden - Thresh.”

“Invite me.” Yang Qian Qian sent a QQ message with a naughty smiling face.

“Ok, let me purchase a champion.” He bought “Thresh” with his Q coins.

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 18: Invite Him/Her Home for Dinner Sometime.

......

As they talked, time quickly flew by. By the time he noticed, they had crossed the bridge.

“Just here is fine. I can get back home myself.” Yang Qian Qian stopped at the next crossroad and said to Yu Luocheng.

“I better see you to the door,” Yu was being a gentleman.

Certainly, in his head, he had a different script; he walked her to her door and found that there was no one at home, he therefore walked in with her, then…...then…...they played League of Legends the whole night.

Well, it’s probably better to just go their separate ways.

“It’s not necessary. My dad usually waits for me nearby. If he sees me walk back with a handsome guy, he’ll grill you about your family background……” Yang Qian Qian said.

Yu Luocheng was happy to hear the first part of what she said, hum, she said he was handsome, but the latter part didn’t sound that great.

“Then, maybe we can chat some more here?” Yu wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet.

“No more chatting. Bye ~” Yang Qian Qian gave him a sultry look, turned, and slowly walked into an alley…..

Yu Luocheng made a note of the location and went home after she left. It was still early enough to play a few ranked games. Tomorrow he had to play with Yang Qian Qian; he figured that her level wouldn’t be too high and it would give him a chance to practice the new champion “The Chain Warden - Thresh.”

Undefeated - League of Legends - Book 1: Chapter 17

Book 1: The Return of the Lost King
Chapter 17: Better Practice Support Well!

……

Along the banks of the Qing River, at the street food stalls.

Since they were just students, there’s no reason to go to a fancy restaurant. Besides, it’s quite an enjoyment at this time of the year to sit near the river, eating good food and having some drinks.

“Ah, the beautiful Yang Qian Qian’s here too,” Zhong Xiaoyun surprisingly looked at the beauty sitting with them.

“Can’t I?” Yang Qian Qian asked in reply.

“You can, sure you can! !” Before Zhong Xiaoyun could say a thing, a bunch of excited boys shouted. They all wished that they could be the one who sat next to her.

Fang Xiaomei stared at those perverts and kept Yang Qian Qian next to her. Though Yang wasn’t from room 8, she knew Fang well and all the boys came to know her through Fang.

Certainly, Yu Luocheng was an exception. He had never talked with this famous girl.

“Come, let’s all have a drink together! !”

“Cheers!”

With the help of good food and alcohol, everyone was getting even more lively and talking about the game that just finished.

Yu Luocheng was a transfer student and only knew his deskmate Wang Qin well. But this game and late night feast had pulled him closer to his other classmates.

Yu Luocheng couldn’t help thinking back to his earlier days, when he had a group of good buddies who spent long hours at an internet cafe together, eating instant noodles and flirting with girls. It’s too bad that they all left one by one without anyone noticing and he had turned into a senior, no longer able to be as carefree as before.

But, it was quite nice knowing new friends and new girls.
