You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 33 Part 3

The moment Xu Huaisong answered the phone, what they heard from the speaker was the piercing sound of sirens from an ambulance.

Almost instantly Xu Huaisong realized what was happening and quickly turned the steering wheel to park the car on the roadside.

At the same moment, they heard Lu Shenglan speaking while panting: “Huaisong…… your dad had another stroke and the caregiver called the ambulance. I got the news and just arrived……”

Xu Huaisong was quiet for a moment, then quickly asked: “How’s he now?”

“I’m not exactly sure yet, just letting you know first. You don’t have to rush back unless it’s necessary. I’ll keep you updated.”

Ruan Yu sensed that it seemed quite serious and was frozen to her seat.

In the speaker, she could hear random footsteps and some exchanges in English which she couldn’t understand fully. But all of the noises seemed to prove her suspicions.

Lu Shenglan turned to say in English to someone: “Here!” Then she hastily hung up the phone.

The mood inside the car seemed to stagnate.

Xu Huaisong frowned and turned his head sideways to say: “I probably have……”

“You drive the car back to the hotel to get your passport.” Ruan Yu interrupted him: “I’ll book a flight for you.” She picked up his cell phone while talking.

Though she was quite decisive in making the arrangements, her hand still trembled while picking up his phone.

Xu Huaisong turned the car around to go back to the city while hearing her ask: “Password to unlock the screen?”

“Your birthday.”

Ruan Yu was anxious to book the earliest flight and almost couldn’t recall her own birth date. She paused a little before entering the password. Then she quickly found the APP which he usually used to book his flights.

“The closest one is at 11:20, you probably won’t make it. There’s one at 2:30 in the afternoon, will that do?”

“It’ll do.”

“The password for payment?”

“309017.”

Neither of the two was paying attention to the number as they spoke it or heard it.

Xu Huaisong raced all the way back to the city.

Fortunately, the traffic wasn’t too heavy at that time of the day. They reached the hotel after an hour.

Once back in his room, he hurriedly went to the bedroom to fetch his passport. Ruan Yu said behind him: “You drive to the airport directly. If there’s anything that needs to be taken care of at the hotel, I’ll take care of it for you.”

After retrieving his passport, Xu Huaisong turned to stand in front of Ruan Yu: “I probably don’t have the time to see you home.”

“I’m an adult. You think I can’t go home on my own?”

Xu Huaisong rubbed her hair: “En. Be careful. I’ll let Liu Mao know and you let him know when you arrive home safely, alright?”

“Alright.” She pushed him to the door: “Hurry up.”

Xu Huaisong left for the airport.

Ruan Yu stood inside the hotel room feeling perturbed. Her brain seemed to have gone blank for a long while before she suddenly heard the doorbell ringing.

She thought it was Xu Huaisong coming back. She said while opening the door: “Don’t you worry, I can……” She stopped when the door was opened.

It wasn’t Xu Huaisong outside the door, rather it was Tao Rong and Xu Huaishi carrying a lot of bags.

“......”

  1. Ruan Yu is oblivious of the password which is her birthdate...hehehe! Mr. Xu is so inlove with her for him to use her date of birth as his cp password. then here comes the mother & daughter with bags going somewhere? I would like to guess if Ruan Yu would be involved and going with them to the US! i love the course of the story going through...i hope this is not like in those kdramas like obsession of a second lead woman inlove to the male lead...talking about Ms.Lu here...afterall she is a lawyer and she should be rational enough to move on i guess.I always applaud women who knows when to surrender if she knows from the beginning that she lost the battle and walk out with pride in herself. One thing so cliche in the story even in reel or real is the dying wish of parents to chose whom they want for their children to end up with...i hope this story is not one of them. I found this story interesting and promising! Enjoyed reading...
