Those Sweet Times
Chapter 93 Part 2
Extra: Shen Zemu and Yang Yin

After watching all the videos, Yang Yin closed the video player, stretched, and drank some water.

Then, she opened a web browser and entered the search page, and searched the key words: self-taught higher education examination, degrees.

The next day, Yang Yin went out during her lunch break to an educational institution.

She met a teacher, Kuang Chaosheng, who was responsible for admission. She had made an appointment with him online earlier.

Kuang Chaosheng was about 30 years old. He was dressed rather formally and was wearing a pair of thin framed glasses. He went over Yang Yin’s application and dubiously asked: “Those who register with us to take the self-taught exam for degrees-- --Especially for young women, most of them study Economics or Management, since it’s relatively easier to get those degrees. I can’t quite understand why you chose to study Automation? This is a hard subject.”

Yang Yin replied: “I feel that Automation sounds more fancy.”

The answer made Kuang Chaosheng speechless. He put the application aside and said: “My suggestion to you is to make your choice more cautiously.”

“Thanks, Mr. Kuang. I’ve made up my mind. I can register now.”

Kuang Chaosheng couldn’t refuse and helped her complete the registration process. Then he recommended a one on one teacher to her based on Yang Yin’s schedule. Yang Yin only had 8 to 9 o’clock in the morning available for classes. Kuang Chaosheng was curious about what Yang Yin was doing for a living. The occupation box on the registration form was left blank.

“What do you do for a living?” Kuang Chaosheng asked.

“I’m a video game coach.”

Kuang Chaosheng was surprised to hear it. It wasn’t a popular profession and he couldn’t tell from her appearance.

Kuang Chaosheng had Yang Yin add her teacher’s WeChat. The degree from the self-taught exam was the most valuable one among all the adult education programs. To get a college equivalent degree, she would have to pass over a dozen exams. After getting that degree, she would then be eligible to take exams for an undergraduate degree. Then after that she would be able to take the exam to get into a full-time graduate school, like the one Shen Zemu was going to.

It was an arduous path to go through all those exams, especially for the subject Yang Yin had chosen. Kuang Chaosheng didn’t think the pale and skinny woman in front of him would be able to stick to the end.

“Why don’t you give it more thought?” Kuang Chaosheng said: “I can still change it for you if you want to change to another subject.”

“No need to change.”

“Your foundation isn’t very good. You haven’t even finished 10th grade.”

Yang Yin said: “Though I didn’t finish 10th grade, my math grade for the high school entrance exam was 100% and I got the highest total score in my class.”

Kuang Chaosheng was taken aback. He wasn’t sure whether this girl was boasting or not. He asked: “Then, why did you leave school?”

“I went to play video games.”

Kuang Chaosheng figured that this game addicted young lady was now returning back onto the right path.

Since Yang Yin had made up her mind, Kuang Chaosheng gave up on trying to persuade her.

Yang Yin efficiently took care of her registration and went back to the club without anyone noticing. On her way back, her teacher sent her a WeChat message, telling her that the materials available for this kind of exam weren’t very useful. The teacher told Yang Yin to go to Nanshan University to get a whole set of their undergraduate textbooks.

Yang Yin asked Xiang Nuan to get those books for her and made sure that Xiang Nuan wouldn’t let anyone else know about it. Xiang Nuan went to the second hand bookstore to get a whole set of second hand books for her. In addition, Xiang Nuan even ordered a whole set of “Notes from a straight A student” online. These notes had been taken by Shen Zemu, but Waiwai was the one who was selling them online. Xiang Nuan was afraid of exposing herself and even used an alternate name when she bought them.

What Yang Yin got was the scanned version of the notes. She printed all of them out after she received them. Looking at Shen Zemu’s vigorous and slender handwriting somehow warmed Yang Ying’s heart.

She shut herself in her room and happily stared at the notes for quite a while.

Then her head cleared up: Oh, my, I don’t understand a single word of it!
