Those Sweet Times
Chapter 81 Part 1
The “Leiting Cup” was named after the organizer of the esport competition, Zou Leiting. He was a legendary streamer on Pea TV and also one of Pea TV’s partners. So the competition was closely associated with Pea TV. Pea TV would be the usual platform that promoted and streamed the competition.
The winner of the Kings of Glory category in the Leiting Cup would receive a one hundred thousand RMB award. The requirement for participation in the Cup was that there must be at least one Pea TV contracted streamer on the team.
Chen Yinghu briefly introduced the Leiting Cup. Once Xiang Nuan heard that the champion would win one hundred thousand, she became very much interested: “Sure, we must do it.”
“Yin Jie also said she can do it.” Chen Yinghu said: “Then we’ll have four people now, only need one more.”
Xiang Nuan thought about Oblivion. Oblivion was a great player; Xiang Nuan always thought about him first when playing competitions: “How about Oblivion?”
“Oblivion needs to train. It’s not good to take a leave for a competition.”
Zheng Dongkai and Waiwai couldn’t do it either. Though the Leiting Cup was an amateur competition, most of the participants were streamers who were very good at the game and the rest were boosters or semi-professionals. In general, most of the players were people who made their living by playing games. So the skill level of the players were much higher than the collegiate competition they participated before. Chen Yinghu had discussed with Yang Yin earlier and she felt that Zheng Dongkai and Waiwai weren’t at the level yet to play in this sort of competition. It wouldn't be worthwhile if they formed a team which would only be pulverized in the end.
There was actually a better choice. But Chen Yinghu didn’t know whether he should bring the name up or not after pondering the situation.
Lin Chuyan was listening to them talking all the while but didn’t join the discussion. At the moment, his champion, Zhuge Liang, was chasing after the enemy.
He soon found that it wasn’t a good idea continuing his pursuit, but it was too late for him to retreat since the enemy’s reinforcements had arrived from the side. The enemy he was chasing after also suddenly turned around to join the other two who had just arrived to attack Zhuge Liang. They intended to kill him.
Xiang Nuan saw Zhuge Liang was surrounded on the mini map. Taking a look at the distance between her and Zhuge Liang, she felt there wasn’t enough time for her to get there to rescue him. Instead of going there to help, Xiang Nuan took the chance to push the turret.
Lin Chuyan was a bit upset and said: “You aren’t going to save your man?”
The phrase ‘your man’ made Xiang Nuan blush. She cleared her throat before saying: “Hum, you’ll die in any case.”
Lin Chuyan: “If I survive this, you’ll have to call me ‘hubby’.”
Xiang Nuan: “If you die, you’ll have to call me ‘daddy’.”
All the bullet comments went “hahaha.”
Xiang Nuan didn’t believe that Lin Chuyan could survive the attack. No matter how good Lin Chuyan was at handling his champion, the attributes of a champion were fixed. She checked on Lin Chuyan’s status. At the moment, Lin Chuyan had killed one of the enemies and damaged another, but he was almost out of health.
It was the best result that could happen. Xiang Nuan didn’t feel sorry for him at all.
She watched the handsome Zhuge Liang fall to the ground, with regret and a little unease at calling his girlfriend ‘daddy.’
Xiang Nuan couldn’t help but laugh: “Ha! Ur……” Her laughter abruptly halted.
Zhuge Liang stood back up from where he fell down.
How could it be?
The only possible reason for a champion to stand up like that was that Lin Chuyan had bought a guardian angel. Xiang Nuan took a look at his champion’s information and sure enough, Lin Chuyan’s inventory had “Sage’s Shelter” which was the so-called guardian angel that could resurrect the champion two seconds after death and recover a little health level.
The question was, when did he purchase it? Xiang Nuan was quite sure that it didn’t exist when she checked earlier……
The two enemies were getting ready to retreat when Zhege Liang came back to life. They were evidently surprised like Xiang Nuan and weren’t able to react in time.
Zhege Liang leisurely killed the enemy with the lowest health.
Immediately after killing one enemy, Zhuge Liang turned around and ran away. Another enemy chased after him. Xiang Nuan heard Lin Chuyan call out weakly: “Help.” Then she recovered from her surprise and went over to help him.
After she took care of the third enemy, the first enemy to die sent a message on the public chat questioning why Zhuge Liang would buy a guardian angel this early in the game.
Usually the guardian angel was the last item people bought, buying it too early wasn’t cost-effective.
Lin Chuyan answered: Afraid of getting killed.
That person replied with a string of ellipsis.
Xiang Nuan asked Lin Chuyan: “When did you buy the guardian angel exactly?”
“Right before Zhege Liang died. I bought it with the money I got after selling other items.”
Xiang Nuan didn’t believe him: “That’s impossible. How could you have the time to do all
that? How fast would it take with your fingers?”
Lin Chuyan lightly chuckled: “You know why my fingers can move this fast?”
Xiang Nuan, out of instinct, felt that he probably would say something obscene and hurriedly said: “Keep your mouth shut……”
“Because I’ve been playing piano since I was little…...what are you thinking of?”
