Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 5 Part 2

Ye Qiao was in a hurry to get her shot. When the nurse was administering
the rabies vaccine, most patients would say “Please be gentle,” but Ye Qiao
wore a frown and was rushing the nurse “Please hurry up.” Right afterwards,
as she held a cotton ball to her arm, she said to Zhou Tingsheng: “Let’s just
have lunch at the hotel? My treat.”
Zhou Tingsheng grabbed her right hand which had just been given a new
dressing and he could still smell the disinfectant. Ye Qiao leaned forward to
his left shoulder with the force and heard him slowly saying: “You’re inviting me
to go to the hotel.”
It was a sexy and seductive voice.

What an indecent mind.

After being with him for sometime, Ye Qiao now treated him as a paper tiger.
All she was worrying about was whether their position now would be seen by
others as if they were embracing each other. She calmly said: “You’re putting
words into my mouth.”
He chuckled out loud and took out a cigarette from the cigarette box.
Ye Qiao quickly turned her face away with furrowed brows. Zhou Tingsheng
glanced at her, but still lit the cigarette. He didn’t speak until he blew out the
first smoke: “Let’s go. I’ll take you back. I have other arrangement at noon.
We’ll eat together some other time.”

Ye Qiao felt that there were so many aspects of him which she disliked.

Such as smoking, rough behavior, and not willing to accommodate women,
not even a pretty woman-- - -And then there was his general indecency, vulgarity
and mysterious whereabouts.

Yet, she simply couldn’t dislike him, the person.

If there was anything more unthinkable than this, then it had to be the fact that
she was going to cut the birthday cake with Cheng Jiang.

The news conference for <The Watcher> had invited all the mainstream press,
TV stations, and online media in the country. Several major stars working on the
movie were also present.
Gu Jin, following his teacher, Lai Zhicheng, usually told stories of serious issues
with their films, but Gu Jin could also achieve commercial successes. One important
reason for this was that Gu Jin would recruit famous actors to achieve maximum publicity.
Ye Qiao sat under the stage and watched Gu Jin excitedly delivering his speech
on stage. She recalled her first impression of him-- --Gu Jin was a talented person.
Even up till now, in her mind, he was one of the few in this business who possessed
both talent and passion.

However, reality was sometimes cruel.
The director’s presentation was over in a short while. Gu Jin remained on stage.
The host announced with an elated voice: “Now, we’ll have the female lead of
<The Watcher>, Cheng Jiang, come on stage!”
The sound of camera shutters and flashing lights filled the room. The woman in
front of all the lenses wore a red, long gown. The halterneck gown was simple
yet well designed to show off her ample bosom. Gu Jin waited at the side of the
stage to escort her up the stairs, with a big smile on his face.

Their interaction furthered confirmed the rumors which had been released earlier
by the public relations department-- --that director Gu and best actress receiver
Cheng Jiang were a couple now.

Ye Qiao could foresee the picture of the two walking on stage together would be
the headline of every major entertainment news tomorrow.
