The Most Majestic You
Chapter 12 Part 1
The preliminaries was the last tournament for the first half of the year. The whole professional circle were now training in preparation for the International Invitationals. As a newcomer, team KG was under even more pressure. For a whole month, they underwent special training behind closed doors.
Soon July arrived.
On the way to the airport, Li Cang was still talking about the competition. “We haven’t set out yet, the captain of Gas has already invited us to a few skirmish games after we arrive. Is there something wrong about it?”
Qianxi interrupted. “Isn’t Gas the team qualified from the European regionals?”
“Right, it’s a foreign team.” Li Cang answered, then did a double take. “Young lady boss, you even know about this?”
“How could I not know! You guys talk about it everyday, so it was hammered into my memory.” Qianxi glanced at the competition flowchart on her iPad. “Our first match is to against them after we arrive. Why are we still accepting their invitation?”
“To know our own strength and the enemy’s is the surest way to victory.” Li Cang raised his eyebrows proudly. “Getting familiar with our opponent’s tactics and style before the official game would help us adjust our own tactics and reduce the chance of making a mistake. We are a team unafraid of exposing our own weaknesses, so we are brave enough to accept.”
“You keep boasting.” Cheng Yang glanced at him in contempt. “Only you would scheme like that. The captain of Gas was the king of non-professional players on the European Server. He’s a die-hard fan of our boss before he turned professional. He’s just a little fanboy.” He pinched his fingers in disdain.
Qianxi laughed as they bragged. She looked down at her iPad. “Then will we accept the training invitation from other teams from our own country?”
“We will.” Li Cang counted with his fingers. “It’s a tradition to have a skirmish with the teams in the same region. Three Chinese teams were invited directly this time. Pioneer. H and Pioneer. Y are from the same club. They usually don’t play with outside teams. The last one is Crystal. We expect that they will play with us.”
Qianxi had done her homework. Crystal was a powerful veteran team. This year, they were especially robust, winning almost all the <The Continent> competitions in the first half of this year. She recalled the team members of Crystal. “So will that Tundra you guys talk about come also?”
Li Cang turned in shock. “Damn. Young lady boss, when did you turn into a fangirl?”
“No…...I just heard you guys mention the name before, so I remembered.”
Li Cang looked outside of the window, then he turned to cover her mouth, warning her, “When boss comes here later, don’t ever mention this name!”
Half of Qianxi’s face was covered, exposing only her eyes. She nodded confusedly.
Xu Jimo got in the van and sensed that everyone was acting strange. “What happened?” He looked around. The guilty one, Li Cang, took his hand off her mouth, then dropped it down onto Qianxi’s shoulder. He giggled at his boss foolishly. Qianxi, totally out of the loop, kept blinking like when she acted innocent when caught red-handed doing something bad.
He stood silently for three seconds, then he turned to sit at the seat next to the driver to discuss the route.
Cheg Yang quickly reached over to smooth out the atmosphere. “We will be late if we don’t set out now. Where is Wei Lai?”
Xu Jimo answered lightly. “He’s coming.”
“Oh……” He turned around and took the chance to drag Li Cang back.
Wei Lai was the last one to get on the van. He looked at the seats and smartly chose to sit next to Cherry. Cheng Yang Ge had told him that the seat next to Qianxi Jie was off limits.
So, in this van with three rows of seats, Cherry was helping Wei Lai on his English homework; Li Cang and Cheng Yang were whispering at the row in front of them, and Qianxi was left alone in the last row with no one to talk to.
Though the conversation between Cheng Yang and Li Cang was as following------
“You are really too disrespectful. How could you touch young lady boss’ shoulder?”
Li Cang reacted innocently. “What’s wrong? Young lady boss herself didn’t say anything, she was still talking and joking with us.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, you, idiot.” Cheng Yang knocked Li Cang’s head, then enigmatically closed his eyes to rest.
Even after the van had started, Li Cang was still shaking Cheng Yang’s arm trying to get him to explain what he meant.
Qianxi watched them interact with each other so cheerfully, envious of their good friendship. Oh, she really wanted to have someone to talk to, too.
Qianxi felt isolated on the bumpy van. She felt sad for herself and then, fell asleep.
After they arrived at the airport, each member of the team checked their luggage and were ready to leave before they noticed that Qianxi was still in the van.
Xu Jimo let them go ahead to check in their luggage, then he went back to the van to get her.
He found her still sound in sleep.
Her head leaned against the window. He mouth was pouting unhappily. Xu Jimo hesitated, then stretched his hand to pat her shoulder lightly.
She awoke with a layer of mist in her eyes. She looked around in a daze. “Have they all…...already left?”
“Uhm. We arrived. You can sleep in the lobby.”
“It’s alright, it’s alright. I’m not that sleepy either.” She was just a little lonely.
Xu Jimo watched her as she rubbed her eyes to make wake herself. “What happened? Do you feel bored?”
Qianxi seriously contemplated the question, then decided to be honest with him. “If I go abroad with you guys, am I just deadweight?”
Take her with you...poor Qianxi she is lonely..
ReplyDeleteI was hoping she'd be friends with her former classmate.
