Starlight Has No Past - Chapter 35 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 35 Part 1

Ye Qiao’s grandmother’s house was located in a residential community with large houses in an older style. The yard was designed to imitate the layout of the gardens from the Ming and Qing dynasties. There was a lotus pond near the front gate with colorful koi swimming between the lotus leaves.

Ye Qiao’s mother came from a family of scholars and painters. Their ancestors had earned scholarly fame and official posts in the Qing dynasty. Ye Qiao’s grandfather and grandmother were both leading authorities in their own fields. Even Ye Qiao’s mother was a famous connoisseur of Chinese painting and calligraphy. When the obscure painter Xu Zang dated the daughter of the Ye family, he suffered under tremendous pressure from the Ye family. Ye Qiao’s grandmother, Yu Deru, had vigorously opposed Xu Zang’s marriage to Ye Qiao’s mother. Finally, they were married with the condition that Xu Zang married into the Ye family. Unfortunately, the marriage didn’t last long, ending with the early death of Ye Qiao’s mother at the age of 35.
This was the reason why Ye Qiao carried her mother’s last name.

Those were all bygones now though. Night had just fallen and only a light rain was falling on the ground.
The front gate to her grandma’s house was ajar. It seemed the people inside were expecting a guest. Ye Qiao figured with the drizzle outside the car, if she dashed into the house she probably wouldn’t get too wet.
Zhou Tingsheng looked at the warm light lit outside the house for Ye Qiao and a thought came to mind. He said: “I’ll take you to the door?”
Ye Qiao wondered how he was going to do so without an umbrella. In that time, Zhou Tingsheng had already gotten off the car and circled to the other side of the car. He took off his jacket and lifted it up as shelter from the rain, then he called her: “Come out.”

She watched the shoulder of his shirt gradually grow wet. She stopped hesitating and came out of the car to stand under the shelter that had been specially erected for her. Zhou Tingsheng hugged her shoulder and walked her towards the house. They had to cross the narrow bridge over the lotus pond and through a small path paved with flagstones to get from the front gate to the house.

The door to the house was closed. The fragrance of the antiquated door made of camphor wood, mixed with the sound of the rain drops, was rather soothing.

Ye Qiao touched Zhou Tingsheng’s shoulder which was frozen to the touch and felt rather apologetic: “It’s easy to catch a cold in this kind of weather.”
Zhou Tingsheng smiled warmly: “It’s nothing. No big deal.”

Joyous laughter came from inside the house. Ye Qiao could tell it was from her uncle’s family and her grandma. She kept turning to look at the doors, worried someone would come to the door. Zhou Tingsheng thought she was in a hurry to go in the house and stepped back one step and joked: “You aren’t going to invite me in for dinner?”

Ye Qiao knew that even though he spoke in jest, he probably meant it to some extent. However Ye Qiao’s family was very conservative. Her grandfather and grandmother were rather old fashioned. Especially after the death of her grandfather and her mother, grandma doted on her particularly. Anything about her would cause a big fuss in front of her grandma.

It would put her on the spot if she were to invite a man whom she couldn’t even explain their relationship at the family dinner table.
Zhou Tingsheng understood her hesitation, dropped his smile, and waved lightly: “It’s alright. Go in now.”

Ye Qiao stood at the door and watched him slowly walk into the rain. The raindrops splattered onto the bottom of his leaden trouser legs. She felt guilty sending him into the rain but she didn’t have the courage to call him back. Since she had lost her phone, she had no means to reach out to him. She could only watch him leave.
When Zhou Tingsheng reached the bridge over the pond, he suddenly turned to look back. Seeing Ye Qiao was still at the door, he waved the jacket in his hand to her with a smile.

The rain was getting heavier, yet he was backing away slower and slower. Ye Qiao frowned in annoyance and urged him to move faster in her mind, while secretly clinging to the sight of him.
She didn’t ring the doorbell until Zhou Tingsheng disappeared from sight. The housekeeper, Aunty Zhong, came to open the door and happily reported back to her grandma: “Mrs. Ye, you’re right. She’s here.”
Her uncle, Ye Zhiliang, put down the rice bowl and laughed: “It really is Qiaoqiao.”

Grandmother, Yu Deru, was sitting on the redwood armchair, slowly chewing her food. She took her time setting her chopsticks down. Her face was all wrinkled, yet her smile was still quite graceful. She gently tidied up the scarf on her neck a bit, then spoke with a smile: “I knew she wouldn’t forget.”

Qianxi jumped up from her seat and ran over to hug Ye Qiao: “Ahhh, cousin, you finally came. Finally, I won’t be the only one being interrogated by grandma!”

Starlight Has No Past - Chapter 34 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 34 Part 3

After the elevator doors closed behind them, Zhou Tingsheng turned the car key. He looked mischievously at an annoyed Ye Qiao: “Kidnapping, hmph…...How many bad things have I done to you, hm? Could you count them to me?”
His tone of voice was deliberately low and suggestive. Especially the nasally way he said ‘hm?’ made her thoughts wander. She truly wanted to sew his mouth closed. What she didn’t expect was Zhou Tingsheng to come closer and try to kiss her, shamelessly. Ye Qiao tried to avoid him, the tip of his tongue quickly licked her lips. He smacked his lips as if he taste testing: “Why hide? Will one less kiss make any difference?”
Ye Qiao chuckled: “So what? I dare you to do it here then?”

Without waiting for his reaction, Ye Qiao easily loosened his tie. Zhou Tingsheng instantly became somber and called her name as a warning. The result was the unbuttoning of the first two buttons on his shirt.
He caught her wrists just in time when she was about to unbutton the third one.
Though both of Ye Qiao’s hands were restrained, there was a smile in her eyes and the still free fingers pinched his collar bone: “You’ve lost some weight. It’s bony here.”

Just as he was trying to control his emotions, Xu Yinshan and the others came out of the elevator. Zhou Tingsheng used one hand to control Ye Qiao’s hands and the other to drive the car away. Ye Qiao watched him driving with one hand and a darkened face out of the garage. She couldn’t help herself from bursting laughter, almost forgetting that her hands were still tied up.

She tried to wiggle her hands out of his grip: “Let go of me. You’re hurting me.”
Zhou Tingsheng subconsciously relaxed his hold for a second, then tightened again like he wasn’t willing to let this pass yet. Ye Qiao’s wrists were turning red, she grew annoyed: “You don’t have to torture me, do you?”
Irritated, Zhou Tingsheng sneered: “Who’s torturing who?”
Ye Qiao wasn’t prepared to reason with him. She raised her face and cried out: “It really hurts.”

Zhou Tingsheng stepped on the brakes before the red light and lifted her hands to take a look. There were some red marks on them. He reprimanded her in a low voice: “It won’t happen if you weren’t this naughty.” He was lucky that he didn’t get into a car accident under the circumstances, how would he recognize that he was using too much force to lock her hands.

Ye Qiao could discern the grumbling in his harsh tone and responded in disgust: “Anything is naughty to an animal who only thinks with the bottom half of its body.”
“What were you doing just now, hm? You try to find an animal who thinks with the upper half? I’m not disabled.”
His moody tone elicited more laughter from Ye Qiao.

Zhou Tingsheng was easily stirred by her laughter. Dragging her arm, he pulled her in front of him without much effort and looked into her eyes. Alarmed, Ye Qiao stopped fooling around. There seemed to have something alluring in her eyes. Zhou Tingsheng involuntarily drew closer and covered her lips with his. He moved gently. Dazed, Ye Qiao didn’t try to avoid it. As if afraid that she would resist him, his every move was tender and careful.

But after kissing for a while, he grew more forceful as if had just thought about some unpleasant memory. Ye Qiao began to panic as she was short of air but couldn’t get out of his arms. Zhou Tingsheng seemed to have lost his senses. Even when Ye Qiao dug her nails into his flesh, he still didn’t release her. He only let go of her when the cars behind his all honked the horns.

Zhou Tingsheng looked at the out of breath Ye Qiao, asked in a husky voice: “Do you know how I felt that day on the ship?”
Ye Qiao hadn’t recovered and was still gasping for air. She replied with some difficulty: “What?”
He turned to face the front: “That day, when you two went into his room, I was there.”
He said it quite calmly, then drove the car forward. He drove smoothly as if the surge of emotions earlier hadn’t occurred.

It took a while before Ye Qiao could breath normally. She recalled how she tried to trick Wen Shaoqian after they got into his room. All the voices and the sounds of jewelry dropping would make anyone listening outside the door think they were having sex inside. So he was nearby then?
She was stunned, but soon realized that it must be the reason why the first thing he asked her was “you get kicked out?” when he saw her in front of her cabin door.

Both of them stayed quiet the rest of the way. Zhou Tingsheng asked her the address to her grandmother’s house and Ye Qiao replied. She could be reckless sometimes, but still knew when to be obedient.
The rain finally came down. As the raindrops pattered to the ground, the car drove into the residential area.

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 62 Part 1

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 62 Part 1

In the end, Tong Yao got in Lu Sicheng’s car. The same car that he had claimed he had just washed and didn’t want to drive out to the street. They drove across half the city to finally reach the restaurant which Little Fatty had requested. They ordered 35 pounds of crayfish. Tong Yao could see the owner’s face change and was just about ready to call the police.

They quickly explained that it was a takeout order for a large group.

As they were waiting for their large order, Tong Yao looked down at her cell phone though there wasn’t much expression on her face, she was actually chatting with her good friend about some earth-shattering news-- --

[ZGDX, smiling: Ah, it seems that I do like that electricity pole a little bit. : ) ]

[Ah Mao’s mom: Tsk, tsk, tsk. I told you not to jinx yourself, that you wouldn’t fall in love with a professional player. Talk like that always comes back and slaps you in the face…...What do you do now? Where’s that trouble making woman?]

[ZGDX, smiling: She has been driven away.]

[Ah Mao’s mom: Then how about you?]

[ZGDX, smiling: I don’t know. On the way to be driven away?]

[Ah Mao’s mom: Be serious.]

[ZGDX, smiling: After he said in public that he’ll only be together with someone who plays games better than him, he and I played a 1v1 match together. He invited me and I won-- --To most of the fans who had watched the match, or as a plot in any romance novel, it seems that Lu Sicheng lost on purpose. But I could feel it at the time that he was playing seriously and very much wanted to win. I won simply because I’m more familiar with the terrain and minion lane at mid, that’s all.]

[ZGDX, smiling: So I don’t think he’s put much thought into it. Besides, we’re teammates, if I were to do anything hastily and got turned down, how could we be playing together in the future……]

[ZGDX, smiling: I panic whenever I think about it. I’d rather prepare myself for the competition than to think about something I can’t be sure of the outcome-- --It would be very humiliating if he rejects me. Furthermore, I don’t want others to think that I play professionally just for fame or to get a man…...It’s rare to have girls play professionally, if anything happens, it’ll just stereotype all girls…...It would be ugly.]

[Ah Mao’s mom: …...I’m starting to sympathize with you, so many things to be concerned about. I didn’t expect you would grow up one day, come, let me pat your head. It seems that a normal fan would have a better position to show initiative than you, a fan can at least call him hubby publicly.]

[ZGDX, smiling: Ur.]

[Ah Mao’s mom: Where are you now? Are you standing next to the Huangpu River and ready to jump in?]

[ZGDX, smiling: The one who lost this morning has to buy a late night meal for everyone. I’m outside buying crayfish right now with him.]

[Ah Mao’s mom: ‘rolls eyes’]

[ZGDX, smiling: What should I do now?]

[Ah Mao’s mom: You’ve analyze the situation very well yourself. Don’t move too fast. If the man has thought about it, he won’t just keep it hidden for long. If he didn’t do anything, then you’re the one who’s put too much thought into it.]

Tong Yao gave an audible “oh” towards the phone screen. Lu Sicheng who was looking at the news on his cell phone looked up at her and asked in a low voice: “What are you murmuring towards your cell phone?”

Tong Yao put away her phone and was about to answer when the first batch of crayfish was brought out. Lu Sicheng didn’t wait for her answer and walked up to the counter to pay for it-- --Tong Yao stayed put and watched him to go up to the register. A short while later, Lu Sicheng turned to take a look at her after exchanging some words with the owner behind the register. He quickly turned back after a short pause, the corners of his lips curved up a little into a restrained smile.

The view of his face from the side looked really nice.

Tong Yao lowered her head, using the sleeve to wipe the finger smudges on her phone screen while her brain went blank.

Those Sweet Times - Chapter 47 Part 4

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Those Sweet Times
Chapter 47 Part 4

Xiang Nuan was sound asleep. Suddenly she could hear noises in her ear.

She slowly woke up and her brain finally made sense of the noise: “Lin Chuyan, my hubby, Lin Chuyan, my hubby! Hahahahaha…...Lin Chuyan, my hubby, Lin Chuyan, my hubby! Hahahahaha……”

Xiang Nuan instantly became enraged.

She bolted upright and stared at Lin Chuyan, sitting next to her.

“Lin Chuyan, my hubby, Lin Chuyan, my hubby! Hahahahaha…...Lin Chuyan, my hubby, Lin Chuyan, my hubby! Hahahahaha……” echoed in her ear.

Xiang Nuan pulled off the earbud and threw it aside.

Lin Chuyan took his time to recover the earbud and looked at her with a smile.

Xiang Nuan took a deep breath and kept telling herself to calm down, calm down: This is the study room, she can’t hit him…...Hitting someone is against the law……

After a few deep breaths, she stared at him and lowered her voice: “How many times do you plan to play this old trick?”

Lin Chuyan moved his body closer and put one of his arms on the back of her chair. He tilted his head, squinted, and said to her in an even lower voice: “I’m going to play it-- --my whole life.”

Xiang Nuan noticed that he was saying it through clenched teeth.

She remembered and took a good look at his face. She noticed that his face had already been washed clean. The tips of his hair were still a little wet. He had obviously just washed his face not too long ago.

No wonder he was this mad.

Xiang Nuan felt a bit guilty. She looked up at the ceiling, then silently moved closer to Shen Zemu’s side.

Shen Zemu had given up studying and watched them in amusement.

As Xiang Nuan was moving closer to Shen Zemu, Lin Chuyan hooked his finger towards her and mouthed silently: Come over.

Xiang Nuan wouldn’t move.

Lin Chuyan lifted the white earbuds in his hand with a smile: Come over.

Xiang Nuan moved back, rolling her eyes.

“What do you want?” She whispered.

“Let me paint your face in return.” Lin Chuyan took out a highlighter from her pencil bag, got up, and ordered her: “Come out.”

Xiang Nuan dejectedly, like a defeated little hawk, followed him out of the classroom.

-- --

Lin Chuyan brought Xiang Nuan to the elevator lobby and had her stand against the wall. She stood there like a schoolgirl getting a timeout. She leaned against the wall, earnest and behaved. She tried her best to show her willingness to accept her punishment and hoped her eagerness would lessen Lin Chuyan’s anger.

“Look up.” Lin Chuyan said, his voice echoed in the spacious and empty elevator lobby.

Xiang Nuan looked up. Lin Chuyan was against the light in the elevator lobby and she couldn’t clearly see the expression on his face.

However, her every move was in the full view of Lin Chuyan.

Now under the white light, her white skin seemed even more pale and fragile. Her bright and dark pupils stared right back at his.

The way she was looking at him was quite straightforward and frank, without any other thoughts. However, in Lin Chuyan’s eyes, he seemed able to read a lot out of her eyes.

Lin Chuyan’s heartbeat quickened a bit.

Xiang Nuan closed her eyes and gritted her teeth as if she was prepared to die: “I’m ready.”

Lin Chuyan use one hand to hold her face, with the palm supporting her chin, and pressed his thumb next to her lips: “Don’t move.”

His palm was quite warm. When it touched Xiang Nuan’s skin, the sensation was scalding.

Realizing that the position they were in could easily be mistaken for a kiss, she began rushing him, her voice trembling slightly.  “Hurry up.”

With her eyes closed, she wasn’t able to see that Lin Chuyan’s hand with the highlighter was actually hanging down by his side the whole time.

All he was doing was just holding her face, looking at her, mesmerized.

After looking for a while, he slowly lowered his head as if enchanted.

Lin Chuyan felt as if his heart was going to jump out of his chest. Each beat of the heart was like the beat of a drum, lively and maddening.

Right at this moment, they heard a chilling voice: “What are you two doing?”

You're Beautiful When You Smile - Chapter 61 Part 4

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

You’re Beautiful When You Smile
Chapter 61 Part 4

“How do we not match? Our looks? Intelligence? Family background? Or our height?” Su Luo laughed and used her chin to point at a couple in front of a bar not far away: “Even they can be together.”

Lu Sicheng turned to take a look. He saw a big, tall man pick up a girl that only went up to his armpits onto a motorcycle. The girl was still wearing a high school uniform and the man only wore a tank top, showing his muscular arms and the tattoos on them. He ruffled her head and took out a helmet to put on the girl’s head……

The girl smiled, reached her arms around his neck and pulled his head down so she could kiss him on his lips. Afterwards, she put on the helmet.

Su Luo: “That girl could be his daughter.”

Lu Sicheng turned his eyes back: What’s wrong with that?”

Su Luo was lost for words for a while, then gave Lu Sicheng a strange glance.

Su Luo: “What kind of person do you like exactly?”

Lu Sicheng: “......Someone who plays better games than me.”

Su Luo chuckled: “Wasn’t that just a publicity stunt?”

Lu Sicheng: “No, it’s not.”

Su Luo: “But does that person really exist? I heard that you’re very good at games. No one is better than you.”

“I never said it has to be the League of Legends. It can be someone who plays Tetris better than me. However, if it’s League of Legends, I would marry her without a second thought.” Lu Sicheng said with an expressionless face: “Good bye.”

Su Luo: “......”

Su Luo finally left. She couldn’t change Lu Sicheng’s mind in the end. She apologized and he said she didn’t have to. She said she would work hard to get use to his profession and he told her it was unnecessary. She suggested that they matched very well from head to toe but he had made no comment-- --

He was as stubborn as a stone that even lightning couldn’t split open.

Su Luo drove away, annoyed.  When she passed the gate she had just left, she could see Lu Sicheng was still standing there. She lowered the car window and was about to wave him goodbye. Suddenly, the man turned around and looked straight into the community-- --

Su Luo paused for a moment. Her intuition told her that he was looking at someone back there.

But her car had passed the gate and in the end, she didn’t see anything.

……

Under the dim lights, Lu Sicheng could see a figure getting closer. Finally, she stopped in front of him out of breath, huffing and puffing…...Lu Sicheng moved his lips and looked down at the person who only came up to his shoulder. As he was about to speak, she gestured for him to shut up.

Then she bent over with hands on her knees and took a few deep breaths.

“Did you pass your high school PE class?”

“A girl who can play games well, looks cute, and has a good personality is already hard to find. Now she has to pass PE class as well.” Tong Yao pulled the collar of her shirt up to wipe the sweat on her chin. “Don’t push it.”

“Which one of the series of requirements you just listed has anything to do with you, except the ‘play games well’ part?”

“......”

“What are you out here for?”

“Little Fatty said he’s hungry.” Tong Yao straightened up: “He sent me to get you to buy the crayfish.”

“You can’t make a phone call?”

“My phone is dead.” Tong Yao checked behind Lu Sicheng: “Where’s your blind date?”

“She’s gone.” Lu Sicheng took out his car key from his pocket and pat the person next to him on the head: “Let’s go, go buy the crayfish.”

“We have to walk back!”

“No one asked you to come out here.”

Lu Sicheng turned as he was speaking. After a few steps, he noticed that Tong Yao wasn’t following him. He stopped to look back and found her standing at the same place looking a short distance away-- --Lu Sicheng looked over and saw the high school girl and the man with arm tattoos were still at the same place, speaking intimately to each other. Something made the man so excited that he picked the girl up like a toy from the motocycle……

Tong Yao looked at them for a while before turning her head to see Lu Sicheng there. Both of her eyes were shining as if they said: “So cute.”

“......” Lu Sicheng sneered: “That’s cute to you?”

Tong Yao turned around and jogged to catch up with Lu Sicheng: “Aren’t they good together?”

“What’s so good about it?”

“You don’t understand anything.”

“Oh.”

Inside the community, the light from the street lamps elongated their shadows on the ground…...When Tong Yao fell behind Lu Sicheng, his shadow totally covered hers.

She looked up at the broad shoulders in front of her with unfinished words visible in her eyes.

Those Sweet Times - Chapter 47 Part 3

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Those Sweet Times
Chapter 47 Part 3

Xiang Nuan pulled on Lin Chuyan’s arm to see the exchange between Oblivion and Lin Chuyan. She was anxious but afraid to speak aloud, even her face was turning slightly red from trying to suppress her eagerness to know: “When did you two hook up together? Why don’t I know about it?”

Lin Chuyan laughed: “You look as if you’ve caught us in bed.” The last two words were delivered with the slow exhalation of his breath.

Xiang Nuan grew uncomfortable: “Hey……”

Lin Chuyan lightly patted the back of Xiang Nuan’s hand and said: “I think he’s quite a nice person.”

Xiang Nuan was speechless. She couldn’t get over the fact that she had met both Chen Yinghu and Oblivion first, then they all became good friends with Lin Chuyan.

To vent her displeasure, Xiang Nuan changed her remark on Lin Chuyan’s WeChat account to “social butterfly.”

Not to be outdone, Lin Chuyan also changed his remark for her to “little silly.”

They even rhymed……

Xiang Nuan couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Finally, after some negotiation, both of them changed the remarks back.

-- --

Lin Chuyan became sleepy right after midnight, yawning constantly. Xiang Nuan offered him a can of coffee but he refused.

Xiang Nuan thought he was going to overcome the drowsiness with just will power. She didn’t expect he would simply fall asleep on the desk.

It didn’t seem like he was concerned about the final exam at all.

Though neither of them were diligent students, Xiang Nuan still despised him.

With Lin Chuyan sleeping next to her, she felt even drowsier than before. If she couldn’t find something exciting to do, she’d soon fall asleep too.

She came up with a good idea. She was exhilarated from just thinking about it and accidentally chuckled aloud.

Shen Zemu took a glance at her.

Xiang Nuan took out several colored highlighters and one black marker. She painted Lin Chuyan’s face as if it were a drawing board. She painted with great vigor, laughing as she put colors on his face.

Shen Zemu shook his head, concern for the retard in his eyes.

To tell the truth, he was starting to doubt his own aesthetic taste.

After drawing for a while, Xiang Nuan took pictures of his face from different angles and felt quite refreshed.

……

After napping for a little over an hour, Lin Chuyan’s arms grew numb and he woke up in a daze.

He saw Xiang Nuan was sleeping, with two jackets on her; one was her own jacket and the other was Shen Zemu’s.

Lin Chuyan, with a straight face, lifted Shen Zemu’s jacket and put it on himself then put his own jacket onto Xiang Nuan’s body.

Shen Zemu was stupefied: “......” Did this person know the word shame??

“I especially want to wear Xuezhang’s jacket.” Lin Chuyan told him with a face full of scrawls and doodles.

Probably because it was so late into the night, Shen Zemu finally lost his self-control: “Get lost.”

He at least knew what shame was as he was too embarrassed to take the jacket off Lin Chuyan.

Lin Chuyan heedlessly left for the bathroom wearing Shen Zemu’s jacket.

There were always a multitude of ghost stories about bathrooms after midnight. There was a student relieving himself when Lin Chuyan walked in. The student heard him enter and turned to take a look. Under the dim white light, he saw someone walking with a ghostly face.

“Ah! ! !” The student screamed, directing his stream towards the wall.

Lin Chuyan was confused at how he could frighten a man so much: “Am I a ghost?”

“Yes, yes!”

Lin Chuyan sensed that something wasn’t right. He hurriedly went in front of the mirror and saw his face. He squinted and gritted his teeth: “Xiang - Nuan.”

Starlight Has No Past - Chapter 34 Part 2

Translated by Team DHH at http://dhh-workshop.blogspot.com.

Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 34 Part 2

There were a few makeup artists and actors whom Ye Qiao didn’t recognize inside. Xu Yinshan’s assistant was sitting at the seat where Ye Qiao had set her bag. Ye Qiao asked her whether she had seen her bag. The assistant acted as if she was surprised and pretended to look around for her: “I haven’t seen it. Keep looking. Are you sure it’s not somewhere else in the room?”
Ye Qiao patiently told her that the bag was missing. Zhao Mo came over to help her search the room and asked Ye Qiao: “You went to the bathroom earlier, is it possible that you left it there?”

Ye Qiao thought about it for a second and turned to go to the bathroom.
Jars and bottles were strewn over the countertop in the bathroom, some having fallen to the floor. Ye Qiao’s white bag was wide open and flopped over in the corner of the counter. Everything inside the bag had been emptied out. Ye Qiao threw all the scattered lipsticks, moisturizers, makeup kits, and pens into the trash can. Then she checked the money, id cards, and credit cards inside her wallet. They were all there and still intact. She stuffed them all into her pocket and also threw the wallet into the trash can.
After she finished cleaning the items outside of her bag, she checked the inside. There was nothing left inside except an envelope.

Ye Qiao walked out of the bathroom, tearing off the seal on the envelope.
Inside the envelope was a stack of photographs. With each step she made with her high heels on the shining floor, she switched to another picture. There were pictures of her and Zhou Tingsheng in the garage of the airport, on the highway, coming and going into their apartments…… The angle of each picture seemed to be purposely making the situation as suggestive as possible. She could almost see the sensational headlines on the tabloids.
Who would take these pictures intentionally? Xu Yinshan?
Halfway through the hallway, she’d already gone through all the photos. Ye Qiao threw them into a nearby trash can.
The pictures dropped to the bottom of the trash can with a thud. Ye Qiao looked up and saw the male figure in all of the pictures standing in the hallway.

Ye Qiao paused for a moment. She thought he would at least stay in the audition room till the end of all the auditions, even if he was just pretending. She expected that he’d at least show some superficial interest.

Zhou Tingsheng glanced at the trash can: “What did you just throw away?”
“It’s nothing.” She prepared to move forward.
Zhou Tingsheng blocked her way: “Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
Ye Qiao stood still: “I lost my phone.”
Zhou Tingsheng was relieved: “Stolen?”
She smiled: “Thrown away.”
He frowned again: “Why?”
Ye Qiao pushed him aside and walked forward, eyebrows raised: “Not because of you.”

Though her tone wasn’t friendly, her answer was a positive one. That still didn’t make Zhou Tingsheng happy. He seemed to believe at the bottom of his heart that he had to be the reason for Ye Qiao’s happiness or sadness. Even if she got angry to the point that she threw her cell phone away, it had to be because of him, not someone else. Zhou Tingsheng followed her into the elevator and pushed the floor for the underground parking lot. Ye Qiao gave him a look and pushed floor 11 instead.

The tips of Zhou Tingsheng’s eyebrows moved ever slightly: “Are you really this heartless?”
Ye Qiao had both of her hands in her pockets and amusedly asked: “It’s the Mid Autumn Festival. Doesn’t Mr. Zhou have family to go back to for the celebration?”
Zhou Tingsheng immediately replied: “No.” Then he smiled at her: “I just have one moon to chase after.”
Ye Qiao couldn’t hold it anymore and burst out chuckling. Then she changed her tone of voice: “Too bad that I have family that I have to be with.”
That was an irrefutable excuse. Zhou Tingsheng gathered his eyebrows: “To be with whom?” He remembered that Ye Qiao didn’t have a good relationship with her family.
Ye Qiao couldn’t help but giggle: “My grandma.” She was actually still debating whether to go or not, but the words just came out of her mouth. So now she planned to spend the night at her grandmother’s.

The elevator reached the lobby. Ye Qiao stepped out with one foot when she was suddenly lifted into the air as an arm circled her waist from behind and pulled her back into the elevator. There were several people waiting for the elevator outside. Zhou Tingsheng tightly held Ye Qiao right next to him despite the surprised gazes of the people outside. Only a female janitor entered the elevator, pushing a water tank, and stood face to face with both of them. They had limited space inside the elevator now. Ye Qiao was afraid to get her windbreaker dirty by touching the dirty water if she tried to struggle to break free. She angrily said: “This is kidnapping.”

Zhou Tingsheng treated the accusation as a compliment. Soon the elevator reached the underground garage. He carried Ye Qiao out of the elevator under the suspicious eyes of the janitor. He turned to the  janitor and said: “I’m just playing along with her.” Ye Qiao heard him, let him carry her to the car, and fasten the seat belt for her. Then she gazed at him gloomily.
