Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 29 Part 2

Ye Qiao made the excuse that she was tired and going to sleep, then bid goodnight to Wen Shaoqian.

She leaned on the sofa, though she felt exhausted, she didn’t feel sleepy. She closed her eyes in the darkness, her sense of smell sharpened and she focused on her thoughts . Wrapped in only a bath towel, she could smell the leather from the sofa and was suddenly reminded of one particular night. If it wasn’t for her overindulgence that night, perhaps she wouldn’t be trapped with such mixed and confused feelings. She asked herself and found that she actually did have some feelings for him.

However, she told herself that it wasn’t love. It was endorphins at most, not even dopamine.

It seemed that it was getting harder and harder for her to accept a new relationship. She was afraid of commitment. She feared that her dependence on the person whom she subconsciously relied on the most would turn around hurt the person. It became difficult for her to imagine what kind of person she could accept next and how they would even meet in the first place.

But, she was clear that that person couldn’t be her one night stand.

Though she had already said good night to Wen Shaoqian, she simply couldn’t fall asleep.

After a few toss and turns, she got up to turn on her PS4 and picked a game randomly.

It was a newly released drama adventure game, <Until Dawn>, a scary and mysterious game.

The plot began with the death of twin sisters. Eight good friends returned to the lodge where the sisters had died and had to deal with evil spirits, called Wedigos. Every choice the player made would determine the survival or death of all 8 characters. Ye Qiao had gone through the game twice but due to the butterfly effects in the game, the characters didn’t survive at the end of the game.

She stubbornly wanted to get a perfect ending and repeatedly played the game over and over.

The light from the screen shone on Ye Qiao’s face. Once again a bloody face showed up on the screen accompanied by frightening sound effect.

She promptly quit from the game and turned off the PS4.

It was 4 o’clock in the morning. Ye Qiao went back to her bedroom and untied the bath towel.

She lied on the bed naked. The chandelier in the shape of a wind chime on top of her bed reflected her naked body in its broken pieces.

There was a Weibo post for the promotion of the movie <The Watcher> on her cell phone. She decided to take a look at it.

Immediately there were fans commenting underneath the post: “Staying up so late?”

“The goddess is also a night owl, hahaha~”

“Qiaoqiao, get more rest!”

Without knowing it, Ye Qiao also clicked open the site where Zhou Tingsheng had been posting those pet pictures. Unexpectedly, she found the green dot at the lower left corner of his icon was lit as well. It seemed that there was more than one sleepless person in this city. Though they were only less than 10 meters apart, they were nonetheless drifting further and further away from each other.

In reality, that person wasn’t in the place 10 meters away from Ye Qiao. He wasn’t even in this city at this time.
