You’re My Belated Happiness
Chapter 49 Part 2
Ruan Yu walked over to take the blow dryer from Xu Huaisong’s hand. He didn’t let go of the blow dryer but instead said: “Sit down.”
Ruan Yu sat down on the chair and asked looking up: “Are you going to dry my hair for me?”
Xu Huaisong: “En.” He turned on the dryer with his right hand, adjusting it to medium temperature, and used his left hand to straighten out her hair strain by strain.
Ruan Yu comfortably squinted her eyes and leaned her head against Xu Huaisong’s arm, just like the cat when he was taking care of it.
Xu Huaisong continued to fiddle with her hair without saying a word.
When the noise from the dryer finally quieted down, Ruan Yu opened her eyes and looked up to say: “Xu Huaisong.”
He still didn’t look like he was in a good mood: “Hrm.”
“You’re so nice.”
Something flickered in his eyes: “Perhaps others are also quite nice, they just don’t have this kind of chance to be nice to you.”
Ruan Yu frowned and was about to ask what he meant by that, but Xu Huaisong put down the blow dryer and said: “It’s getting late. Go sleep.”
She was truly tired. She yawned and said: “What about you?”
“I’ll take a shower and go to sleep too.” Xu Huaisong pointed at the guest room: “I’ve just gotten that room ready.”
Ruan Yu looked over, following his fingers, surprised by his decision. She became somewhat distressed when he turned to go into the bathroom.
Ruan Yu went into the kitchen to warm up a glass of milk and handed it to him when he came out of the bathroom: “Are you upset about something? Did something happen in the US?”
Without waiting for his answer, Ruan Yu already knew the answer to her question should be no.
He only started acting weird after she went up to the 15th floor, then it should have nothing to do with anything that happened before that.
Xu Huaisong ruffled her hair and smiled: “No, just tired from flying.” He took the milk and walked to the guest room: “Don’t stay up late.”
Ruan Yu turned to go back to her own bedroom. She got into bed and still felt frustrated. She scratched her hair, knitted her eyebrows and had trouble falling asleep. She searched for her cell phone on the nightstand and unlocked it.
The first thing she saw was that there were 17 missed calls.
They were all from Li Shican.
Ruan Yu was dumbfounded.
She took a look at the timeline of missed calls and checked the call records. Then she uttered in a low voice: “Ahh.”
When she came down from the 15th floor, Xu Huaisong was in her bedroom and just at that time Li Shican made a flurry of calls.
She finally knew what was going on.
She gave an annoyed sigh and grimaced.
She should have thought of it.
Ruan Yu sat on the bed for a while and felt that she shouldn’t let this just go by.
She couldn’t expect a man who would write 327 short messages but not say “I like you” to ask her about the calls on his own.
But if she let this just pass by, he would have suffocated himself first, then begun suffocating her as well.
She braced herself to get off the bed, but stopped herself right before she was going to open the bedroom door.
He had just gotten off a long flight, helped her to deal with the fire alarm mess, and then cleaned the living room. Would he be so tired that he had already fallen asleep?
She slowed down her movements and quietly walked over to the guest room to paste her ear on the door.
She couldn’t hear anything inside the room. She was debating whether she should wait till tomorrow to talk about it. Suddenly, the cat came by her foot and made a long “meow”.
She immediately gestured “hush” but Xu Huaisong had already heard it and asked: “What’s wrong?”
Ruan Yu cleared her throat and asked: “May I come in?’
After receiving an affirmative answer, she turned the door knob.
