At this time of the day, Qianxi’s parents were usually away from home.  Qianxi quickly packed her purse, documents, clothing, and daily necessities…...then lugged a suitcase out of the small community.  She became a full-fledged, rebellious runaway.

Though sad, she felt relieved and took some joy from it without knowing why.  She really wanted to scream loudly to the sky, “I’m free!”  But she stopped herself after seeing Xu Jimo leaning at the gate.

She put down her suitcase, took out some cash and a bank card from her purse, and walked towards Xu Jimo.

“Here is your money.”  Qianxi handed it over.

Xu Jimo had begun to understand her stubbornness by now.  He paused shortly then accepted.  He pointed to that bank card using his eyes.  “What is this?”

“It’s a debit card.  There is twenty million in the account, it was the money I earned for my medical studies in North America.  Anyway it’s of no use now, so I’ll just give it to you.”

“......”  Xu Jimo stared at her.

In the sound of the pouring rain, Xia Liang finally pushed away from Song Qiyan’s chest.  She turned her eyes away from his gaze, which was filled with desire.

Song Qiyan sighed lightly.  He stood up from sofa and pulled his hand out of Xia Liang’s top. Then he pulled Xia Liang up and locked her in his arms.

Xia Liang buried her face into Song Qiyan’s chest, recovering her breathe.  Her face was flushed.

After a while, she poked Song Qiyan’s chest. “Qian Qian and shixiong haven’t come back yet!”  Then she poked again.  Umm, wow, he’s pretty brawny.

Song Qiyan buried his head in her hair and taking in the nice scent of her hair.  He said “Umm”.

“Ah?”

Qin Xiao continued without taking a breath.  “<The Continent> is very popular and it’s an area we’re focusing our development on.  We have found that Kill’s fanbase is the largest with the highest loyalty of all god-level players.  If we can sign with him, I can even give you a commision!”

“No, no, no…...I don’t mean that!  I’ll definitely help you.”  Qianxi’s brain functioned very slowly and she couldn’t catch up with Qin Xiao rapid fire speech.  She managed to digest what had been said.  “But I’m not too sure that I can arrange for you to meet him.”  Anyhow she had already indicated that she had left Yinyuan.  “How about this…...can you come to my hotel tomorrow?”

“Hotel?”

She quickly took a hot shower after she returned to her room and casually put on a SP uniform.

As she was blow drying her hair, she was still looking at the wet shirt that had been thrown into the bathtub.  She was thinking whether she should wash and dry the shirt before returning it?

“Manager!”  Her roommate rushed in.  “I saw boss’ interview on the sports channel!”

“Last month’s?”  She tried to remember and turned off the dryer.

“Right~”  The girl held the remote control, swaying left to right, and laughed.  Then she saw the black short sleeves in the bathtub.  It instantly caught her attention. She picked it up. “Isn’t this K&K’s uniform?”

“En……”  Ai Qing didn’t continue the topic.

“Whose uniform?”  The girl was even more intrigued.  She measured the size and looked at the tag on the collar.  “XL?  180cm?   Taller than 180cm in K&K------”
Dt and Grunt!

“It’s K&K’s captain Dt.”  Ai Qing cleared her throat.  “My skirt was wet when I was at the beach.  He lent it to me.”

The shirt was from him?

Then, wouldn’t the owner of the shirt be half naked?

When the youngest member of SP ran to the beach looking for Ai Qing, he happened to see the strongest K&K captain was holding a white beach towel wrapped around Ai Qing.  He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him……

“Aren’t we going to have a buffet together tonight?”  Ai Qing heard the youngest member calling her.  She hurriedly took the bath towel.  “I’m going to change clothes first.  Your T shirt…..”

“No hurry.”  His eyes looked down and saw that the shirt was utterly soaked.

It was too cold here and you could catch cold.  He thought.

“It’s too cold here.  You’ll catch a cold like this.”  Ai Qing said softly.  “Go back quickly and put on some clothes.”

She then ran away wrapped with the towel after saying so.

Qianxi checked the room number on the key and headed straight for the elevator.

She took off the suffocating formal dress.  It was well after midnight when she showered, hopefully washing off all of her bad luck.  Qianxi tossed and turned on the bed in the hotel room, but sleep refused to come.  She opened the friend group chat and sent an excerpt from a book.

“We would never openly wish to teach ourselves to never have a wish. But if we did, perhaps an unexpected blessing will feel like something falling from the sky or blown over by a nice wind. If the result is not satisfactory, then at least we can comfort ourselves knowing that we had no expectations to begin with.

When Xia Liang opened her eyes again, she was still lying on Song Qiyan’s back.  But they had already at the front of their vacation house.  He was opening the door.

Song Qiyan felt movement on his back and turned his head to look at her.  His voice was soft and magnetic, “Are you awake?”

Xia Liang rubbed her eyes and quietly yawned.  She spoke tiredly,  “Umm------? We’re already back?  Oh, where are Qian Qian and Wei Jian xuezhang……”

Song Qiyan opened the door and walked in. “I didn’t see them on our way back.  I left them a message and came back to the house directly.”

“Oh……”  Xia Liang was still drowsy, her head lazily hanging onto his shoulder.

“No!”  She instinctively denied.

Xu Jimo then spread open the tissue to cover the lower half of her face and stared at her eyes.  “Really?”

Qianxi, with only a pair of eyes revealing, nodded forcefully.  “But why cover my face?”

Xu Jimo put the tissue next to her hand.  “Because eyes do not lie.”

Qianxi didn’t pick up the tissue, she simply lifted her arm and hastily wiped her face.  She turned her head around to calm herself down enough to recover her normal facial expression.  “Ok, it’s ok now.”

Her face had turned red from crying and her eyes were bloodshot, but she still had smile on her face.

It was probably bad timing for him to make this trip, yet it might also be the right time.

Xu Jimo crumbled the tissue with his fingers making rustling noise.

Finally, he said.  “Then let’s go.”

“En.”  She nodded.

But in the end they didn’t go because Qianxi’s cell rang.

Ai Qing stood at the water’s edge watching the lapping waves reach near her feet.  She debated whether to go into water and run against the waves.  But there were orange yellow flags flying along the beach warning against it------Do not go into water today.

While Ai Qing was still in the middle of Inin’s lesson, all the other good for nothings swarmed around her to play poker.

Ai Qing gave up on the lesson when she noticed that Inin’s attention was no longer focused on the whiteboard and instead on the game of poker. She put on her large straw hat and walked towards the beach.

It was the same when she quit her job at the hospital.  The emergency room had received a patient with AIDS in need of surgery.  The head of the surgical department and chief surgeon for the operation asked for an assistant volunteer. She volunteered and they had successfully completed the surgery.

At the hospital, patients with an infectious disease was common.  She had encountered many such cases and handled each without incident.  But for some reason, this particular case was reported in the news. Her parents were furious when they learned about it. Their dissatisfaction from her chosen profession all these years finally reached a tipping point and they forced her to resign from the hospital.

She originally planned to perhaps study for a degree in basic medical sciences. Later, she could work on research which would be much safer and less stressful, maybe then her parents would approve.

But now, it looked like it was just wishful thinking.

“It hurts!” she hissed.  They were walking along the shore line and had reached a shallow tidal pool littered with washed up broken shells.  They were both walking barefoot on the sandy beach and unfortunately, not all of the shells had been smoothed by the tides.  At first, Xia Liang closely followed Song Qiyan, but soon felt that the bottom of her feet has turned a bit numb and uncomfortable.

Song Qiyan frowned lightly and crouched down.  He supported her as he raised her foot.  He noticed a cut on her big toe with fresh blood trickling from it.  Enough salt had been left behind on the beach by the ocean tide, which naturally made the cut painful.

Song Qiyan turned half a circle as he was crouching down, with his back facing Xia Liang.

Xia Liang hesitated before climbing onto his back and gingerly wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Do you want to keep walking?”  Song Qiyan asked her.

Xia Liang looked at the endless beach, then looked back at the distance they had walked so far.  She shook her head.  Then she realized he couldn’t see.  She put her chin on his shoulder. “No, let’s go back.”

As she wished, Song Qiyan turned back.

Qianxi and Xu Jimo agreed upon when and where to meet. Afterwhich she threw it to the back of her mind.  Since she never took a finance course in university, her daily work was difficult and tedious for her.  Though nobody demanded her to accomplish much, she felt compelled to do some actual work as an employee of Yinyuan. Thus, in addition to her own work for her own department, she spent time learning from other departments.  She worked overtime with other employees, occasionally even overnight.

She had been working overtime for a whole week.  She didn’t give much thought when she agreed to her dad to return home for dinner that day.

Her mom came early to pick her up from work and took her to get her hair done and do her makeup. Her mom picked out a sweet and elegant skirt for her with an entire set of matching jewelry before heading home.

Qianxi blinked her false eyelashes and asked,  “Mom, which uncle is coming tonight.  Why am I dressed so formally?”

“En, your Uncle Pei is coming.”

More than ten young men were having fun in the clear water of a swimming pool.

Ai Qing sat on the poolside wearing a long skirt.  She was giving the youngest team member, Inin, a private lesson.

The names Solo and Gun were written on the whiteboard.

“Ten years ago, Solo’s team was known for its ‘ten inconceivables’ in the Chinese CS circle. The two star players, Solo and Gun, were ranked in the top ten in the world for two consecutive years. The team members swept up many personal ranking in the world; the 2nd most consistent player, the 4th best player to draw first-blood in a game, the first and 2nd best at map control, the 4th best player for pistol-only matches, the best shooter, and nominated three times for MVP, etc, etc.” She circled Solo’s name with the pen. “Solo’s expert in tactics.  There was a saying at the time that god always stood behind Solo.  His control of the battlefield was unmatched and it was also the key factor that allowed the team to win every competition.  And Gun’s personal skill at the time had reached the highest peak that a professional player could ever reach.”

Inin sat at the poolside attentively scribbling notes.  “In other words, will our boss lose if they battle with each other?”

What an interesting hypothesis?

She really never thought about it.  “I don’t know.  They have never battled with each other.”

Inin thought for a while. “They never battled with each other for ten years, so they organize two strong teams ten years later to finally have a duel?”

“Damn it!  I’ll kill him!”  Ai Jing pushed Ai Qing away despite the fact that she was clad only in a bath towel.  “Wait a minute!  You just let it go like that.  Why on earth did you join SP?”

“For my dream.  I’m not as shallow as you; the only thing you think about is love affairs……”  Ai Qing covered her forehead at a loss.  “Have you forgotten that  you’re the one who got dumped?  I’m just trying to comfort you with my sad past, my dear!”

……

“Shit.  Damn the dream!  Don’t give me that shity excuse.  Have some backbone.”  Her elder sister bit her teeth angrily. “Come on.  Keep talking.  Why did that bastard Solo say the name of that woman!”

The two remained silent, Xu Jimo treated Wei Lai as if he was air.  His KDA (Kill/Death/Assist) numbers kept rapidly changing.  Just like his ID “Kill” indicated, he was a legendary killer in the <Seventh Continent> circle.

Xu Jimo played “Kael”, the third most difficult hero from over a hundred heroes in <Seventh Continent>.  Using three base elements, Kael can combine them to cast ten different abilities.  It required the player to maintain a high APM (actions per minute), reaction speed and map awareness.  Wei Lai watched his slender fingers fly over the mechanical keyboard at an amazing speed.  Each spell was connected perfectly and he wiped out any who stood in his way despite lacking two players on his side.  The words “Rampage” flashed on screen, he had pushed into the enemy’s base in fifteen minutes.

How scary…...how depressed was the boss today that he would turn the fish pond into a bloodbath…...

As Wei Lai was still wondering, Xu Jimo had already turned around after finishing a round. “Are you looking for me?”

Finally when Xia Liang appeared on the beach, she had changed her white, chiffon robe into one of Song Qiyan’s loose oversized T-shirt which reached down to her knees.

Lin Qian couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow when she noticed Xia Liang’s new outfit.

However, someone had obviously miscalculated.

Originally, he thought the T-shirt was at least opaque.  He didn’t realize that it was even more attractive, with only her white calves exposed underneath a loose T-shirt.  Song Qiyan had already facepalmed numerous times.  He made a note to himself that they should never go to the beach from now on……certainly, unless it was just the two of them.

Anyone who knew Ye Qianxi all admired her ability to play the reincarnation lottery------a reputable family, good looks, and a degree from a prestigious university. She was indeed a perfect example of the so called rich, fair-skinned beauty.[1]

For someone who had never experienced a hitch in her life, Qianxi felt for the first time the meaning of “I feel as if I’m suffocating.”

For the whole day, Xu Jimo’s indifferent eyes and his teasing, or perhaps it was mocking, smile constantly floated about in her mind.

Before her own imagination drove her mad, Qin Xiao’s invitation saved her.  “Long time no see.  I’m around the shopping district nearby.  Do you have time for a cup of coffee after work?”

Qianxi was eager to get out of the stifling Yinyuan Building, so she replied instantly.  “Great!  My treat.  How about meet me at the Starbucks downstairs of the Yinyuan Building half an hour later?”

Qin Xiao was shocked by her quick response.  “......ok.”

Ai Qing walked back to her own room, swiping her card multiples times before the door opened.

She walked inside and heard loud splashing from the bathroom. The door of the bathroom was open, filling the entire room with steam. Feeling something amiss, she dropped her backpack onto the floor and walked in barefoot.  She saw Ai Jing standing underneath the shower head with her her clothes on; soaked from head to toe.  With her back facing Ai Qing, Ai Qing could see her shoulders throbbing.

Was she crying?

It was a very familiar scene.

She stood there. Whether it was the instinct of being a twin or the scene reminding her of something from the past, Ai Qing couldn’t move.  She could only watch silently.  She feared that she might crush what little remained of her sister’s self-esteem.

Until Ai Jing’s hand touched the shower handle, Ai Qing snapped out of her daze and backed up two steps.

Ai Qing could feel the gaze of several pairs of eyes.

Only three people other than her on the bus knew Su Cheng.

Gun, All, and Solo.

Gun sat next to Su Cheng but he seemed to be in a phone conference.  He wore earphones but hardly said anything.  His beautiful eyes glanced at Ai Qing without any expression.  Only All waved his arm dramatically, signalling Ai Qing to sit next to him.  It seemed that she could be safe next to him.

For sure, she certainly couldn’t stay where she was standing.  The first six rows were all from K&K.

She walked past the first six rows and entered the SP section, the bus turned suddenly.

Two people reached out to hold her simultaneously.

Qianxi cleared her throat, then spoke in a professional tone.  “Esports is a new industry, but the supply chain hasn’t mature yet.  All esport teams in China basically rely on sponsors to exist, and their profitability is questionable.  Why do you think Yinyuan should invest in KG?”

Xu Jimo’s voice was low and cold.  “The National Sports Council has already recognized esports as an official sports event.  The money in the award pool for international competitions already exceeded ten million US dollars in the past two years.  It’s getting more and more mature.  I have written in the proposal that you have the naming right of sponsorship on our team logo,  flag, uniform, and all the other peripheral products……”

The entire speech was coherent and fluent, she could tell that he had already said those same words to many people before her.
